I love the show, the new season is starting out really slow though I hope it gets better I had high expectations.

Crap I didnt realize the new season was on.

I watched season 1, and i was indifferent. I didnt really like it or hate it but as i got in to season 2 I got hooked.

Anyone notice there using a Pierce Ladder Truck? Its a real FDNY truck but I think its a reserve rig only.

Yeah theres alot of sex but theres actually some point to it. In most cases its Denis Leary cheating on his now ex-wife who divorces him. Will they get back together? The BC suffers a heart attack while sleeping with an illegal alien. The woman has the nerve to run off and leave him there for dead because she afraid of being deported. Did the BC make it? Denis Leary's kid get hit by a DUI driver. Can his son pull through? His god son wants to become a FF and becomes a probe in the same fire house. When the former probie sneaks him in to a structure after knock down while they were doing a (secondary?) search. They poke around with there pike poles and pull a roof only to have tons of derbies and fire come flying down. Probe/His god son, who isnt supposed to be in the structure anyways is now trapped. Will he make it out alive or will the death of his god son come down on his head? Another intense moment, the fire has blocked the exit while attempting to rescue a girl from a multi-story building, and to make maters worse, the hydraulics jam on the ladder. How will he get her out alive? Not to mention her cat..

So there is alot of good drama in there as well, but you have to sit down and watch everything in order to understand whats actually happening, and while Season 1 wasnt very good, it does lay some ground work for the following seasons.

I'll likely give it another try. But the episode I watched was the one where the guys were sliding on some ice in the begining, then it was a fight between two of the guys and then the rest was all about sex. 5 min of what I want, 55 minutes of what I can do on my own. :( was kind of a let down. Low battery now damn.

Well if your after a show with alot of fire rescue then you will be disappointed. Theres alot of in the fire house life displayed. You know practical jokes and giving each other a hard time, but there is not not alot of fire/rescue. There may be some exceptions but none stand out in my mind. I was expecting more fire/rescue type action but it stills a pretty good show imo. I wouldnt place it above The Shield,24,Prison Break, and maybe House.

I do suggest watching it in order. While the episode dont pick up and leave off in the same place like 24, they still interconnect in a way that follows a story line.

I thought Season 1 was the best season, maybe thats just me. Anyway, I do think the sex is overplayed but I think outside of the sex and some of the funny moments on the job the show goes really deep. Alcoholism, infidelity, I mean Denis's character constantly sees ghosts which is an aspect of the show I personally love. I think when you really sit down and take the time to watch it for what it is, a T.V. Show most will probably find it is a great show.

It seemed to me like Season 1 was a bit more focused about seeing dead people then the other seasons, although the bit with Jesus driving the Lamborghini is pretty funny. Season 1 it seemed like he was victims of rescue attempts. In the later seasons he didnt see ghost quite as much but when he did it wasnt about a person he was trying to rescue, it was more baout trying to help himself.

But you bring up a great point with the depth of Leary's character as the seasons progress.

I think seasons 1 through 3 were the better seasons. To me it seems like the show went downhill from there.

The Pierce ladder truck the show was using was on loan from Pierce, which was not operational. Recently, the truck was refitted to be operational and sold to the Roberts Park Fire Department in Illinois. The FDNY would never be able to have this truck in their fleet, the wheel base is too long and the truck is too wide.

Through out the series, the show has used an E-One, two former FDNY Seagrave trucks, and then finally the Pierce for Ladder 62. Engine 99 has been a Mack CF/Ward and two former FDNY Seagrave engines.

Loved the show, but way to much sex & stuff, Though i understand the cheating and what not, it eventually seemed to be just soft-core porn. The storyline was great & plenty of twists & turns, Stopped watching after season 5, they seemed to be fixed on which girl they could hire to be the hottest in the episodes rather then continuing the storyline any further...

Just my opinion
