It is hard to imagine that this ultra-luxury building is about to rise in one of China's rural areas. At Huaxi Village, this eighth highest building in China and the world's 15th highest building is about to be completed in June of this year.

On January 3, 2009, Wu Xie'en, the newly re-elected chief of Huaxi Village, said that the design height of this building is 328 meters, and this 74-story building will cost 2.5 billion yuan in total investment and is expected to be put into use in 2011, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the village.

"There is a special significance in calling the building New Countryside in the Air," Wu said. The common impression of rural areas is always of low houses. It is now the time to get rid of that image and build a new high-altitude rural areas.

It is understood that the original plan for the building was to cost 1.5 billion yuan, but because of the current situation, coupled with decoration costs, at least 2.5 billion yuan will be needed to complete the project.

Wu said the building's capital investment is stable, because it is not a 2.5 billion investment in one year, and funds available for Huaxi Village is 3 billion yuan each year. This project will not influence input in education, medical, and other areas.

Huaxi Village in East China's Jiangsu province is supposedly the richest village in China. From poverty in the 1960's, to 1999 when it became the first listed company of comprehensive developing rural economy, to the current annual sales income of the village above 40 billion yuan, Huaxi Village is still one of the successful examples of China's rural reform.

I just found this on skyscrapercity and a 328 meter building with 74 floors housing 3000 families is just crazy for a countryside,what has the world come to? The countryside was supposed to be peaceful,not full of machines building 328+ meter buildings,they just proposed a 538 meter building for a rural area again. This is just crazy,what's next,a 100 floor hotel beside like a 3-4 story old houses. :1046275767_ugly:

It could work out very well in fact on one condition;

The building uses local produce to sustain itself.

I know nothing of laws/regulations etc in China, but if they sourced things like the farming products and employee's of the building it could be a huge boost to the area.

The only thing is that you would hope they don't build another 2-3 in the area, that could really cause problems

74 stories? Wow thats going to suck to come and leave. Wonder how long the elevator will take to go from top to bottom, and the parking..how the hell are they going to accommodate enough parking for this monster?

I'm sure most of the people in Huaxi already have villas,but i do find it true,how will they park like 6000 or 10000 cars in that thing with a car per adult in the city.All people have villas in this village,3 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,3 living rooms,2 car garages,and 6 tvs. Nobody is poor in this village,all the people get this so this is what I call paradise but if you leave the village,you lose everything,your house,your car,your free health care and your money. You need the leader's signature of the village if you want to get money out of it when you leave the village.

Lol but Communism/socialism are the biggest fails ever; it doesn't work in practice. That's why this is like the only rich place in China lol. All of the other money is hoarded by the government and a select few.

China has lots of rich places but this is like the only one in the countryside in China. Most chinese cities are really rich,and no,this is socialism working with capitalism.China is a mixed economy.
