2.0 LA traffic/traffic lights/pedestrians/fire issues

I been playing the LA mod previous versions for a long time and was fairly fun, But 2.0 frustrates the hell out of me.

Problems in free play:

1. Traffic. Traffic ! Did I say traffic? I have followed the script editing from other posters, does not seem to help...

2. Traffic lights: Some traffic lights seem to stay red forever causing a even bigger traffic mess and bottleneck!

3. Red light and stop sign runners. I have several vehicles that want to run in front of traffic from a side road just to cause a traffic jam in the middle of the intersection where noone wants to move. I try to redirect them with PD. No help. Only way i can get rid of them is by shooting them, the car catching on fire, then me towing the vehicle.

It would be nice if PD could request a vehicle towed without the need of it catching on fire. That would be a cool sub-mod !

4. Pedestrians. These people also seem to want to stand in the middle of the damn road causing traffic jams. Yes I have tryed to arrest some. But I now have about 150 + people standing in my roads and sidewalks everywhere ! What the hell !

5. Fires: Fires are turning into multi block infernos sometimes before the first engine arrives on scene.

With these problems this game is more stressful then dealing with a Amtrak train crash with 80 + people hurt in real life {And yes I worked one}

Any tricks that are truly effective that will allow me to enjoy this game instead of dealing with unnecessary problems in my city? And no. I am not interested in having PD block off all major streets just to stop traffic. I understand some of you are doing that but thats unrealistic.

I'm no expert at the intricate details here but i'll give you my best shot at at least getting some more experienced people replying.

As you said yourself, there are plenty of threads on the traffic in 2.0

If you've tried said fixes and have got nowhere, either you haven't followed them correctly (just a possibility, not saying you have) or for some reason it's not working for you.

Unless you can post screenshots of specific areas where you are having problems so people can check them out, you will just have to live with it.

These two you will find are combined.

A car will try to turn right and jam another in place, as no traffic can move the red sequence does not complete, so all lights turn red until you remove the car by doing what you said, shooting it, putting the fire out, and towing away.

This is because the car gets stuck halfway through it's scripted action, hence why you can not just redirect it.

This will return traffic lights/flow back to normal, until the same thing happens again.

Pedestrians generally walk in the road when;

A)One of your units uses the path or

B)An armed suspect runs along the street.

The only way to sort this out is to arrest them and walk them to the pavement, or use the 'send to' function of PD or FF.

5. Fires: Fires are turning into multi block infernos sometimes before the first engine arrives on scene.

The only time this happens is;

A)Gas explosion

B)The multi vehicle crash by the hospital.

They are meant to be this way, much like real life when big explosions happen, things catch fire.

Just send all 4 units of FD1, and set up on each corner, of however you think is best for the area.

And finally,

I am not interested in having PD block off all major streets just to stop traffic. I understand some of you are doing that but thats unrealistic.

This game is designed to be a rough sim, not real life, sometimes we have to deal with that.

There was a set of cars that did a continuous loop and never left the map, this caused some traffic issues.

Hoppah changed this in his most recent patch, do you have it?

Yeah really, just search for the files to change the amount of people and traffic. If you can do that, then search through the traffic topics and find the traffic light tutorial. Put a few traffic lights where there are none and that should fix it.

I guess part of the problem is we need someone to Condense the postings that actually work and delete the postings that do not work or have bugs in them. I have sat here and read hundreds of posts on several topics, and with so many different approaches on the fix it makes your mind numb and wonder whos fix is actually correct. Even the pinned posts have several replys that just add to the bottleneck of hours of reading that turn out little or no good results. It would be nice if a moderator could condense fixes to one pinned post so people dont need to search everywhere for a problem fix. This would help downsize the amount of users reposting a already fixed problem.

And no, its is NOT normal for a car crash to cause 5 multi story buildings to catch fire, thats ridiculous. One building on fire due to the crash is okay, but not five for crying out loud...

What are you talking about? a SIM is BASED on real life events. That is the whole point of a SIM game to be as realistic as possible !

You didn't say it happened 'for no reason', you just said it happens, which is why I stated the 2 in-game reasons this happens.

If you have an obscene amount of pedetrians I suggest you edit the map params so less people enter the screen.

I have played freeplay 'for hours', and yes, fires break out, which is why you ahve the ability to call more units from off the map.

No, it's not normal for 5 buildings to catch fire, but in this game when something burns long enough, surrounding objects ignite. That's the way this game (and real life) works in regards to fire, it has set up scripts that when met, make things happen.

What are you talking about? a SIM is BASED on real life events. That is the whole point of a SIM game to be as realistic as possible !

And finally, yes, a sim is meant to be realistic, but there has to be a line somewhere.

The game is built and designed to operate in certain ways, and that's exactly what it does.

May I suggest that if you are having such issues with the new map, you delete and re-install the mod, but just opt to keep the original map.

How do I edit the map parameters for less ped. traffic?

And the problem isnt that I dont have enough FD units to fight the fire, the problem is the fire spreads ridiculously fast before the first arriving units can even arrive on scene {Which I have read several people on these posts complaint about}

I haven't done it myself, from what I hear it's the same as reducing traffic, i'll have a look for the thread for you and link it once I do.

I have trouble with it sometimes as well (gas explosion on that crossroad to the left of the petrol station is a prime example)

As I say, I just send all 5 engines there, and rapid deploy one by the limosine (this control the hedge which catches fire) then place one rapid deployed along the road to the South of the building, then the other 3 sit along the row of houses.

It's a case sometimes of being unrealistic and just flooding the area with units.

the best way to fix it is have a atmy helicopter landed in a place where theres no traffic then when a car cause the road to back up call them in have the army sott the car & then tow it away be ure to have fire department on scene to cool the car why you wait on the tow truck this works for me also at the start of freeplay a van always get stuck at start up by the fire station at the tp of the map hope if another version of the LA mod comes out they fix this issue

Two things;

1- Learn to spell. It took me five minutes to decipher that. And for our foreign friends who come in the forums, if they tried to translate that, it would be impossible because there were so many mistakes.

1b- Use punctuation. It was just one large sentence

2- That is NOT the best way to fix it. For several reasons

A- As mentioned earlier, this is a SIM, so it should be realistic. Sending in an army helicopter to shoot a car to clear traffic is not realistic. A regular patrol car with an officer would be able to do that.

B- Also, Army helicopters (Its called the jayhawk or blackhawk or something in the game, i really don't know because i never use it) cost A LOT of money, and as I said above, would not be necessary.

Sorry if I sounded a little mean, but it's true.

Emergency 4 is not a simulator, it's a game.

So..I think we have established that "mutualaidsupply" is;

Yea that is no fun. Are you from the Middle River Md area? I do recall that situation where the train engineer was smoking dope. I also was with a Baltimore County Vol fire co.

yea but the blackhawk gets to the scene quicker than a car, & its not that high if you use the cheat were you type magic then hold CTRL SHIFT & hit F11 alot im just saying this is easyest way for me but it would help if he would make a patch cause at the start of freeplay by the fire station a van just sits there & never moves

The Amtrak crash I was referring to happened in Kissimmee, Fl {Osceola County Fire/Rescue} about 20 or so years ago. Can't remember the date exactly.

A SIM is short for Simulation.
