  1. The chevrons on the back of ambulances and fire apparatus are something that has been a topic of discussion in many forums. Here in the United States, we have a non-governmental body called the National Fire Protection Association that sets standards for Fire Fighting and Fire Protection throughout the country. While these are not laws, the standards are practically adopted verbatim by all agencies. The new NFPA 1901 standard that takes affect this year specifies that 50% of the rear of vehicles are to have a chevron in an alternating color reverse V pattern. The standard includes a list of allowed colors and other technical details for each type of apparatus and is easily found via google. LAFD has decided to take the proactive step of covering the entire rear of their ambulances with the chevrons for safety, but you can be pretty sure that chevrons will soon be turning up everywhere in the US on fire apparatus.

So you mean its going to be on more than just ambulances? Wow, thats gonna look pretty cool.

  2. what about border patrol and customs? I just thought it is a possibility because LA is somewhat close to the border.

Not really, ICE for sure but I'd be really shocked to see border patrol doing much in LA. Voodoo's federal mod though may have border patrol, so definately that to look forward to.

  3. I only sugested this, because I think that it is out of question to make the animal control van.

That brings up another interesting point: even though theres a rabies emergency in freeplay I don't think anyones ever made a unit to go along with it. Maybe it would be more trouble then its worth, idk. Just the first time I've noticed anyone bring something like that up. Cool thought though.

  4. Ok! I just thought it could become handy when taking out rabid dogs :1046275747_biggthumpup:

Thats true. It would be neat if there were something like the mp5 that the regular police could use. Some cars have shotguns in them, and when I'm doing freeplay I usually don't use the swat team unless its something big.

  5. I love that your still going to use the hat, helps make the CHP officers look unique. (Plus you did a really awesome job on it, no need to waste any of that)

I kinda like the Camaro though because apparently it makes an excellent vehicle for traffic enforcement. A while ago I saw a lot of articles about the all white 'ghost riders' and thought it was really awesome. While it's not as useful since high speed pursuits and stopping speeders doesn't really happen in EM4, it could still be good for one of those car crash campaign missions you posted you were thinking about making.

What would be really awesome is if you made a charger as well. A lot of departments are using them now, some even plan on replacing all their crown vics with them. I think it would make sense to give the vehicle an appearance ingame.

  6. Sweet! If I can get through the "it's very complicated" part, I might be able to make those military paramedics I was planning to do.

Just one thing about your CHP officers... they look very nice, except that as far as I know, CHP officers don't have hats (unlike state troopers from other states). I've looked all over and never found any picture of a CHP officer with a hat on. Furthermore, even in "ceremonial" pictures (where sometimes police officers wear hats or decorations that are not part of their everyday uniform), CHP officers still appear hat-less. Maybe Mike can confirm if he sees this?

It would fit pretty good on a park ranger, though. Maybe an idea for V1.5, to assist the USFS in the forest fire mission?

I'm don't know very much about CHP, but I'm pretty sure this is them.

  7. In real life, SWAT units sometimes need to deploy as soon as they get out of a vehicle. Would it be possible to add a command to SWAT/army vehicles so that all the units inside will already carry a rifle when they leave the car? It would only be optional, though ; if you don't use the command, the units get out of the car without weapons, and have to take them from the vehicle (or take any other piece of equipment).

That would be awesome. Usually when I call for swat the first thing I have them do when they get on the map is exit the vehicle, take up arms, then get in again and proceed to scene. Something like that would save a helluva lot of time!

  8. You can use the editor.

Load the LA mod, go to map > load map > freeplay.e4m

Pick a spot, remove some houses and stuff. Go to: edit > Scene.

And put fences, open_house buildings on that place. In an original EM4 mission you have to control fires at an airport. So it's all modelled already. And they are acessable (open_house :) You can edit the ground texture for the airstrip :) .

(maybe an idea for the next LA map i'm workin on?

Yeah, I edited the heck out of my map already. My experience is very limited though so I'm sure that someone else could do it much better.

  9. Everyone wants a mod of their county's stuff, but 90% of these never amount to anything. Your best bet is learning to skin alright and just playing around with existing mods for your own personal use so it kinda resembles where you live. That's what I did at least.

  10. All the people stuck in the snow are in that same general area. If you don't think you got all of them make sure your dogs stay around that one spot. Someones in a house and you probably got both the guys under debris.

  11. Use snipers if you really want the guy dead. If your trying to bring him in alive though use a rescue truck to bring officers in close. When they use the pistols they have the tendency to get caught in each others line of fire.
