  1. Hey William! I see Ropie58 has given a nice intro, thanks. Like he said, I am interested in joining forces; in fact I contacted you on one of the forum posts to find out how you got a unmarked police vehicle in and how someone would go around doing this. Although I can't really help you here, I am quite experienced with editing the game files for a better experience. So that's kind of like scripting. If you were able to get a new vehicle model in, please, I would like to know this. I think I might be able to change some skins if I can figure out what's up with the prefab files in this game.

  2. Hello Ben,

I'm glad that see that it seems that you are the guy who's giving us EM-5 players some hope again. I'll be looking forward to your Mod. BTW: on January 5, I sent you a PM which you haven't replied to yet. Maybe it slipped your mind or you just didn't find the time to respond yet. But would you mind checking your mailbox again? Thank you!

    Cheers!!

    :holdglass:

    Robert.

    Done.

  3. So as some of you may know, I'm doing some mods for EM5, after the demise of Frozen- One, this kind of includes the Dutch Mod (which I'm going to start rewriting as soon as I can manage to figure out some things for my Better Em5 mod.) I'm also going to be doing an American Mod if I can figure out how to add prefabs, but for you fans of Las Vegas, I will leak to you that it will not be taking place there . The reason why everything is on one post is because: 1. To prevent the excessive making of posts. and 2. Because I'm going to be combining most of my ideas from the Better EM5 mod into the Dutch Mod and American Mod. So, enjoy the latest update on the Better EM5 mod:

Better EM5 is now a launcher mod! YAY! I found out how to make a mod package (silly me) and it will be much easier to install. Will be uploading shortly as an update.

Dutch Mod: Coming soon, details will be added later. Will be a launcher mod too, most likely. Edit: If you have any Dutch vehicle models, please contact me so I can use them. EDIT 2: I am proud to announce that the Dutch Mod will be coming in a simplified version soon, probably by 2/21. Stay tuned!!!

The American Mod: I am leaning towards a New York mod as it is one of my favorite cities and preliminary results show the community would like this too. I will make the final decision when I am done making BetterEM5 and the Dutch Mod work perfectly. EDIT: Will consider a Chicago Mod, another of my favorites. Or LA. Maybe all three! But Chicago makes me think of Watch Dogs, although the idea of controlling the emergency services of a semi- futuristic city doesn't sound too bad. Any thoughts? Put them in the comments down below (that just sounds too Youtube). EDIT 2: Los Angeles and New York now tied? Amazing! I am now more certain I will be making multiple American mods in the near future.

  4. Okay, I'm not sure that Flnn Rescue 12 actually answered the question (good try, but he was asking about the menus, not a set of tips) so I'll help here:

You don't need any special equipment to light, everything can be your normal stuff.

So you need to find the prototype for the vehicle you want to light. Go to Edit Scene, find vehicles, find emergency vehicles, then find the vehicle you want to light. Then click on it, you do not need to place it but you do need to click on it. Then click on "Edit Prototype". Find "Lights" and voila! You have accessed the lights for the vehicle. There will be a few things you'll see:

Radiation: This is the light that will show on the ground, it is represented by a polygon.

Coronas: I believe the same as the Radiation but for the air.

So to edit the light color just change the RGB in the bottom right of the dialog, play around, this is really simple.

Play around, and you could learn a lot!

    (Don't forget to save.)

  5. Since from what I understand, you are talking about the Dutch mod, so although I do not have explicit permission, I do have two things to my argument:

    1. I'm trying to do a favor to the community.

    2. I reasonably believe that there would be no problem.

    And some more:

    3. I'm not taking the idea as my own. I'll still credit Frozen- One for the idea.

    4. If Frozen- One says I can't continue development of the mod, then I won't post it.

    5. I have no bad intentions with the takeover.

    6. If he ever goes on the forums again, he will find out and have a chance to tell me I can't continue development.

    Sure, go ahead.

Thanks! I'll credit you for your part.

  6. You should take a look at the tutorials section. A good texturing software is GIMP, that's what I use. People report errors because they don't pay attention. Also, note that the Bushton mod is a submod of the Mayberry Mod, so (as far as I know) there should be no issue with putting it up for public download here as long as you give the proper credits and put in the title somewhere that the files are a submod. Splitting the areas should be really simple; it's just a matter of making two textures, putting them on two different units, and putting them in place of the corresponding files. Or simply adding them- however, it's easier to replace, because after that, you have to change the station scripts for the new units, and any files that refer to them. The easiest way for you to get what you want is to texture some pre- existing models for one fire department and texture others for the other department. If you really need extra help beyond what is already publicly available (look everywhere), you can message me. I know a thing or two :)

  7. Reflection on this:

I seem to be the only one out there that is interested in picking up the pieces and continuing to mod the game. I have the latest new post in EM5 modding (the Better EM5 mod). That's a quick project. Although I have little experience, everyone has to start somewhere. That is why, in this time of negativity, I am a beacon of positive energy. I'm happy to begin to resurrect modding of Emergency 5. I may not accomplish it, but you have to try.

So: Don't keep your hopes up, but I'll see what I can do with this. Hopefully Frozen doesn't have a problem with it.

  8. Yeah I know, I might just peek into the scripts to see if I can figure out the inner workings. Then I might be able to make some scripts for EM5 like arrest at gunpoint, patrol function, stretcher paramedic heal... you get the idea.

  9. UPDATE 12/31/2015: I'm testing out what I have so far. If you would like to be a tester, please contact me.

UPDATE 1/1/2016: Happy New Year! I'm having trouble, however, with getting new vehicles into the game. Even if they use vanilla prefabs. This affects the SWAT ground transport and the special prisoner transport, and unmarked cars as well. Workaround was to change some values: Police car has four spots, van now has two with six prisoner seats.

UPDATE 1/11/2016: Mod is coming to you very shortly! I'm sending it to the Downloads section, all it needs to be is approved by a moderator.

UPDATE 1/16/2016: Mod Released! Find it at http://forum.emergency-planet.com/files/file/638-betterem5/

    CURRENT RELEASE: 0.1

So, because I'm having trouble finding a map or models for my Autobahn mod, I am taking the liberty of trying to make EM5 a little better for everyone out there. Plans:

    • Additional/New skins for emergency vehicles (green/white police cars) Not Started
    • Changing personnel amounts (two doctors for a doctor car, more cops in cars, ect.) Completed
    • Unmarked cars (I'm going to see if I can make it so that the cars can't be detected by criminals, or the plainclothes officers either) Not Started
    • Police cars will no longer be able to transport prisoners, a special van with seats for many prisoners (I think that's how they do it in Germany) Needs Reworking; Preparing Workaround
    • Doctor in ambulance Not Started
    • Police can use fire extinguisher Not Started
    • Firefighter can redirect, possibly doctor or tech Not Started
    • SWAT officer ground transport vehicle Needs Reworking
    • Other things to make the game more realistic or just for something new to do Mod Status Approximately 38%

Why? Because I think EM5 is a little short on mods for the new version. (2.0.2)

  10. Well I recommend the NL mod (Dutch Mod) and Unlimited Units. There are a few US lighting theme mods, and I think I heard of a Multi- Roles mod (firefighters can redirect, police can use a fire extinguisher) but that is included in the NL mod. However, I don't think there are any mods compatible with the new release, where normal officers have guns and some other minor fixes.

  11. In my personal opinion, the lights are easier and saves extra scripting work as there are already scripts for lights to go on during a traffic stop. In addition, are you sure the "STOP" on the bike is not just a static image? It probably is, I've never heard of a model that can change textures in- game. Even if it was a prototype, you can't exactly remove prototypes in- game...

EDIT: Noticed that they can change the message. Now I'm thinking possible model changing.

  12. Which medium? Disk? Steam? Online code? I'm going to assume you got it shipped to you, which in that case (don't quote me on this one) you should download the "Prerequisites" and the latest patch (2.0.2, the first one from the top). But I never had this experience as I bought the game from Steam, which auto- updates.
