Damn you Bama I was working on almost that same exact engine with THVFD!  Anyway, looking awesome so far!  I do have to admit I agree with some of the others before me, rural departments with limited water supplies have a tender as a necessity, you can go through the tank on your engine faster than you would believe!  Also, pretty much all the rural/county departments out where I live have AT LEAST 1 brush rig if not more.  For one they're a hell of a lot cheaper than structural engines so they are easier to procure it seems plus they serve a very specific purpose especially with the pump and roll capabilities they bring to the fire ground.  Again, I'm just throwing suggestions out there as to what I think would add to the mod, you're doing an outstanding job!

  2. What if you used a truck, like the Silverado, or even better an F-250! But then put a camper shell on it.  Most BC or Chief trucks that I have seen have a shell to protect all the command equipment (radios, maps, MDC, etc.).  Other than that I think a Suburban would be killer, or an Expedition, like the one Itchboy released.  Overall though, out of your 4 choices I'd go with the Tahoe, followed by the Explorer.  Looking good!

  3. I've answered this one repeatedly... That happens because the texture is missing either because you did not put the texture in the same folder as the model, or you renamed the texture file to something else and did not save the new texture associated to the .v3o.  Either open the model in zmod and re-associate the texture to the model, or open the model in notepad and find the lines referencing the model's texture and manually rename them to match the current texture name.

    SRF, Body, 0, 0, 0, bear01.png, 517, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0SRF, Interior, 0, 0, 0, bear012.png, 517, 2, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0

    change bear01.png for example to whatever your new texture is and save the file.

    Hey man, I had no idea this was possible without opening the model in zmod.  However, when I open the .v3o with notepad its just a huge amount of crazy characters.  I used the find tool to search for .dds and .png both with nothing returning.  How does this work? Am I doing it wrong?

  4. Thank you for explaining the situation to us but quite frankly i could care less about new scripts,missions, or new game features. I would be happy with all new units and a new map. The biggest part of a mod to me is the map i dont play the missions because ive played them way too much. Thus i spend the majority of my time in free play and the map immerses the player into whatever city or region the mod is based on. I think thats the problem with most mods is they are too ambitious this game is getting old and was never intended  to be so complex.That being said the community has made alot of progress and virtually made a whole new  game that is much better than the original game but you have to know your limits. I wish you guys the best of luck and look forward to playing the mod when it is released.

Hey guys, awesome mod!  I'm wondering about a couple things though.  So I installed it, installed the hotfix but there are still a few issues.  To start with, most of my FDNY units can't be moved once they're on-scene, even with all the FFs/Captain in the rig.  Second is that a few of the doors are missing from a unit, particularly the NYPD HWY unmarked Charger.  Thanks again, the mod is legendary great job!

  6. Sorry for the late reply...This is correct. If you don't assign a Vehicle Type to the car, it does not spawn. This is because the game uses a defined set of Spawn Points which are assigned to a certain vehicle type. So for example, Police STW spawns at a certain place, while Ambulance RTW spawns in another. The car you created does not spawn because the Vehicle Type is set to NoSquadCar by default and therefore the game does not know where to spawn it because it is not set as a playable unit that you own.

Hey Itch, so I installed your cars as you said in the read.me by just dragging in, so in the models folder there is one named Chevrolet, same in prototypes.  So I made a car using the Caprice.  I added lights, a lightbar and reskinned it.  I then proceeded to make a prototype of the unit with the editor as I learned in Hoppah's adding a vehicle tutorial.  Then, I made a units folder and added the new Prototype, named APDcaprice, to the freeplaybase to make it available in freeplay.  So now when I go to freeplay it is available to spawn, model previews totally fine and everything but then when I try to spawn it the car never spawns onto the map.  Is there a way to tell it to spawn the same place as the other police vehicles?  Could it be because its not in the police model folder?  I'm at a loss, any help is appreciated, thanks again!

When you go to export a file, make sure the object name matches the filename you export it as IE if the object is named car1 then you have to export as car1.v3o, or just go under the export button's little down arrow and select multiple export and then you can dump all the objects in the zmod file at once.... much easier imo.  As far as UV mapping there are tutorials for how to do the UV mapping of a vehicle, explaining the whole process in a post is a bit much, help with an aspect of it nadda big deal but the whole process bit much.

  9. Some who are more educated than I may have a more efficient answer however some things I may have observed:

     

    1. Did you use modify>attach and attach the two parts together under one title?

     

    2. I always seem to have to rewrite a file name that already exists:

     

        e.g. You want to name the combined model MFREngine you need to have a preexisting .V3O (with data that already exists) with the name MFREngine.V3O

               This is why we back things up

    When you say under one title, do I need to rename both to the same thing or rearrange them in hierarchy?  What do you mean?  Thanks again for the super quick response!

     

    Edit:  Never mind, I just did it and it worked perfectly!!! Thanks you!! Now, can you give a me a quick hint on how to remap a texture to it?

Hello everyone, I have a quick request for advice.  I was in zmod today messing around and opened up Bama's Pierce Velocity Heavy Rescue, and it's amazing!  So i wanted to make an engine using that cab.  I took the rear section of Montana Mod Engine 2 deleted the cab and took the cab off the Velocity and deleted the body.  Then I moved the two exactly into place and merged the files by dragging the engine's body into the file containing the cab.  All should be good I thought.  Then I tried to export it and it gives me the error seen in the screenshot.  Any help?

  11. Windows 7 right? Try checking the properties of each .mpg file of the Supervisor to see if Win7 blocks it. This might cause the game not to read the file properly causing it to be silent. I've had a problem before where the supervisor crashes my game. This fixed it somewhat.

    I just tried this, went through and unblocked all, pressing apply on every one.  But then i went back to double check and they had been blocked again!  Do you know of a way to fix that? Thanks for the reply by the way!

Hey everyone!  So I have an issue that I have tried to resolve but I can't.  When I get a call in free play the window with the video pops up, the information scrolls at the top of the screen but for some reason I don't get any audio.  I have gone into the supervisor folder and played the videos and they all have sound.  I cant find anything in the game settings that I might have accidentally muted.  It's odd because I used to have them but the just stopped on day.  Any suggestions?  Anyone else had this issue before?

Hey Bama, awesome mod you have here man!  I was wondering a if you possibly have a copy of the vehicle textures that are unpacked.  For example, when I try to open the Engine 1 .dds formatted skins i get errors.  I'd love to be able to edit them as I'm reskinning your amazing models to my local area.  The mod has the same feel as where I live so I wanted to make it my own.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

    EDIT: Are you referring to the Taurus + Explorer? They were uploaded to the Downloads Section. Due to a little addition I made to the     description, the download had to be sent in for moderation which will take ~2 days I think.

  15. Really? so then what do I do with the file named mdjse1 I can assure you that there are no other files with that name for me to paste into 

    If its in model it goes in model.  If its in unit it goes in unit.  His units are their own folder so in the model folder they dont go in fire or something, that's why it says 10 mdjse.

  16. I am not sure where to put certain files as they do not have counterparts in the la mod (for example the file named squid) help would be much appreciated

    Everything is organized perfectly.  Put the stuff in the federal units+la county folder in the folder with the same name in your la mod folder.
