  1. Put it simply, full of potential, but the main killer for me was the bugs and performance issues. The lack of english tutorials and modding support was the last nail in the coffin.

I'm not paying a full retail price to fix their game for them. I'd prefer to spend my time making my own indie game thanks.

Won't be buying any of their future emergency products. Not for ten years or so, when maybe virtual reality/oculus rift will be incorporated, but i expect that will be developed by another developer.

  2. Yeah this patch has made some great performance improvements. Another patch like this would make the game much more popular! Why they didnt delay release by a week.

I am also enjoying the automation of the firemen quite a lot, changing their hydrants by themselves, gives me a lot more time to manage other things.

  3. Hi all, maybe this qualifies as a finished "mod".

This enables the doctor to ride with the ambulance like in EM4.

I tweaked the offset in this one so it's slightly different from the one i posted in the other category.

    Instructions included!

    Enjoy!

If people could video and upload to youtube how they are editing things, that would be awesome. Thanks!

  4. Here is a mod by a German fan, from the German website, I am only translating for you and linking you, use at your own risk!

     EM5 - Configurator - Tool Download

    Hello,

I once created a small tool, which allows you to something easier to edit the graphics settings.

    Version:

    1.0

    Download:

Update 15:08 clock: (The start of the tools should work now)

    Info:

When you start 2 backup files are created automatically by your configuration files in the folder AddData (extension .bak).

So if something goes wrong, just restore the backup (a backup is generated only at the first start or if the .bak file should not be present).

In the program, many graphics settings can be made.

There are appropriate assistance to the individual values (taken from the map editor).

The configuration files will be read-only after a change.

Thus, it is no longer possible for the game itself resets any values.

However, you can no longer change the graphics in the game.

If you want to do this but again, simply remove the write protection from the config file.

After a change just click "Save" button and start the game normally.

If you find the program useful, I would develop it further as appropriate.

    Requirements:

Java Runtime is required in order to start the program:

    Have fun!

PS: Please report bugs / problems

  6. Sorry not sure on the lighting. I found a bit in the properties of a vehicle about the lighting, but didnt really help me understand how to modify it.

    Heres some file locations...

Looks like the Mod folder tucked in strange location

    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Promotion Software GmbH\EMERGENCY 5\mods\

Also tucked in near by folder
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Promotion Software GmbH\EMERGENCY 5 Offline Editor\
    is file called

    qsf_editor_qt_settings.ini

    In is this bit

[ConnectDialog]Hostname=offlinePort=4242History=offline, offline, localhost:4042So it appear the online editor part not set up currently. Which I think some already suspected.

  7. Some wish to assume the capabilities of the game without understanding it's limitations, where we are right now with understanding the editor in of it's self, not the engine or the script limitations should give quite a bit of pause into assuming "this is such a powerful tool".  Simple truth is nobody really knows what the editor or engine is really capable of yet, playing IN the editor is but a glimpse, realize the LA mod made use of much custom scripting to make the things people use so often in mods today.

If you seen what people have done with LUA scripting in FPSCreator, you'd know LUA is a great scripting language for them to introduce.

Also some of the features I have already 'played' with, would of saved me about three weeks work, in to about 3 hours in EM4 for mapping! Why do you think so few maps got made for EM4, it was one of the rare occasions mapping in a game was more work then modeling and skinning and introducing assets to the game!

  8. Just a final thought but I think the major salt in the wounds was purposely changing the model extensions and everything to stop backwards compatibilty, simply allowing a quick convert would have allowed modders to quickly move up to Em5, but it's always felt like the devs would much prefer everyone playing just the vanilla game and have seemed a little envious of mods such as LA, which brought way more interest to this game than the original game has.

Backwards compatibility would suck in my mind, as mods should be creating much higher poly models in this game then EM4. And they should have diffuse and occulasion mapping one hopes.

I still find this game is a big BIG leap on from EM4. Hopefully once optomisation is sorted out, you can be wowed with the future mods.

  9. P.S. - GTA IVs graphics still hold up today, especially on high settings. It's a good looking game, especially with mods. It also has a much, much larger map and a lot more going on.

Yes GTA IV graphics are acceptable, but nothing compared to GTA V, and GTA V isn't even the best game graphically now, its a year old and didn't go for all out graphics when it was released.

The map is a lot bigger, but the way it runs is completely different. That is why you don't get a mini map on GTA showing you the positions of every vehicle on the map. It only loads up said vehicles in eye sight (Or often even less then eye sight, they can appear close to you if your moving at high speed or running on poor computer or a console). Whilst Emergency loads and calculates every vehicle and event on the map constantly, to allow you to jump around on the minimap, hence it being RAM and process hungry. E.g. FPS is a lot different to RTS.

I am really enjoying how the vehicles do progressive braking, and take bends and long straights differently, really interesting to watch in Em5. Not seen it in other games like this, not even driving games like Euro trucker.

  10. Lol!  I did get a little carried away.  I think the anticipation of it finally being here got to me.

From my first experience with Emergency 5 playing and getting a peek at the editor there is no doubt it will be a lot of work.

The editor has promise, but so far it isn't as easy as I thought, especially with no documentation.

I asked long ago would there be documentation for modding with the game and they told me yes.  I don't see it.

But we will see with time.

I think the editor has somethings that are harder as we need to learn new work flow, but other things like the streets is so so so much easier now.
