  1. I agree that a investigator would not be needed unless the town has a crime rate is high then it may make sense for the town to have one. As far as the unmarked units go, I think having at least one would be nice. I like having at least one unmarked unit when I play.

    My hometown where I worked as a police dispatcher, it has a population of around 11,500 - 12,000 and there is a Chief, Deputy Chief, 1 normal investigator, 1 drug task force investigator but would be called out for normal investigations as needed and 18 officers (including 3 sergeants & K9 Unit). Chief drove a marked unit, deputy chief & investigators drove unmarked units. Day Shift & Evening Shift each had 1 unmarked unit with the other 3 marked units. Overnight shift had the slicktop marked K9 unit with marked units. We didn't have a traffic unit because they would do traffic enforcement while on patrol not handling calls. When we start to get multiple complaints regarding traffic, they would assign a officer for traffic enforcement only unless a more urgent call came in. The smaller departments in our area would call county for a investigator.

     

    Shots fired - Outcome could be an actual shooting with person shot, false alarm (fireworks), someone just randomly shooting (no injuries), officer down (suspect at large), active shooter (kind of like in deluxe freeplay).

    Suspicious Person - Person takes off running when officer gets in area, peeping tom, lookout for burglary (more subjects appear if possible), subject lost and you provide directions (kind of like the script for traffic stops).

  2. The one obstacle that could present a real problem is the use of the Police Upgrade mod: one of it's stipulations is that it can't be redistributed until the RCMP mod is released. That mod is on hold until EM5, or until the team decides to finish a release for EM4. I can always seek permissions, but I'm not at a point where I'm going to release this just yet anyways.

     

    It's understandable.... It's just sad how obviously it is no released by being in the not released submods & also no where is there a download link yet people still ask.

     

    I'm actually interested to see where this leads whether it gets released or not. I think it would be just awesome seeing in game pictures & maybe some short videos of gameplay.

Hey guys I have been playing EM4 off and on since it was released forever and a day ago.  I recently got a bug and wanted to start playing again and see what kinda new mods are out there for it.  I must say I'm very impressed with some of the new stuff that this community has put out.  Kudos to all of you.

     

    Currently what I'm running.

    • LA Mod
    • Supervisor Enhanced
    • Additional units Sub mod v.1-2
    • E4LM LA v.1.01
    • Sirens 
    • Wods map second edition v1.1
    • Cleaned up with Emergency 4 configuerator.exe for my high end computer

     

     

    3 Quick Questions that I hope you guys can help me out with.

     

    1)With New free-play map second edition v-1.1 The traffic seems to get backed up really bad. And some of my units can't patrol and they can't seem to get back to the station with out me baby sitting them home.  How do I fix that if I can?

    1b) On that map some of the sick people are wayyyy near the edge of the map and I can't seem to see them with out some serious camera manipulation- is there a camera setting I can use to help see the edge of the map better?

     

    2)The New Free-play Map v 1.3 seems to crash after about 3 to 4 minutes of play Is that fixable.  I think it's from traffic but I'm not sure

     

    After all these years I thought this site was dead until I saw recent posts great to see there are still people out there that play this game.  Any help would be much appreciated.

     

    1) Wood's Map has always had traffic problems if I remember correctly. Just when you think you are getting traffic cleared up, they get backed up somewhere else. I think there are even some stoplights that are malfunctioned that causes traffic to jam also.

    1b) See below.

    2) I haven't played any of Woods maps in at least a couple years and don't plan on installing it now after the nightmare it was in the past. Does it CTD with any errors, or after you do a certain thing (like getting a hose)? Can you post the log file so we can take a look at it? That will give us a general idea of what is causing the crash if not the full answer.

     

    Is the camera hack on this site or is it something I need to get elsewhere 

    I have no idea how to even change the paths... - Basically what I have done was found where their start point is and I put a cop their permanently to turn them around right away 

     

    Found this on LA Mod FAQ website, is this what the camera hack is suppose to be or is it a actual program? Very rarely do I get someone on edge of map but I never had a issue not being able to get to or see the person.

    How can I get the camera hack?

    To zoom in or out further and get different angles you only have to edit some settings in the configuration file.

    To do that, open em4.cfg (or em4deluxe.cfg) with WordPad located in your Emergency 4 directory.

    You can change the following values: mincamz, maxcamz, mincampitch and/or maxcampitch.

    The screenshots on the LA mod website have been taken using the following values:

    "e4_maxcampitch" value="80."

    "e4_maxcamz" value="3500"

    "e4_mincampitch" value="15"

    "e4_mincamz" value="100."

  4. ^ I don't believe that's a very nice comment to make there. As said before, many many times before - we have lives, and we work on the mod aswell as life. I've been very busy with work and studies lately and I haven't really had time to work on the mod with the rest of the guys. 

     

    If you want to pay me and the rest of the mod team a salary, please be my guest - if not sit down and shut up. 

     

    Sorry if you feel it's harsh but I needed to get it off my chest.

     

    Salary -- Tempting sir. But really, we all know where your coming from.

     

    Oh and I forgot.... I love your signature.

     

    Lately I have not been working on the mod at all,I have very little free time right now to devote to the mod and have other priorities at the moment.

     

    In the coming weeks I'll get back into it and get some things done.

  5. Has anyone made a limited water supply version of the mod yet?

     

    I don't think anyone has made a actual released script yet but I read in someone's WIP mods they were integrating it into their mod.

     

    What is the "Evacuate Building" command for? I have never found a use for it.

     

    Good question, I been still trying to figure that out since I started playing. Must be mission only because I have not been able to get it to work on anything in freeplay.

  6. Yep, I found them.  Just lots more WORK to do to make a COMPLETE Mod.  However, I'm sure those of you doing mods are running into the same thing I have been, and that is finding that you end up going back and REDOING some of your skins and making them better/more detailed.

     

    Wow, at this pace I'll NEVER finish!  LOL!

     

    Yeah, I know what you mean. I started a personal mod 2 years ago and then got too busy with work to continue on it. I plan on going back to doing it again but I'm working on GTA IV skins right now. Working on all my local units skins and now I know more about skinning, I'm going back and editing all my old crappy ones I made. So it's pretty much a never ending project for sure.

  7. DDS Converter doesn't work with Win7 if you run Win7.

     

    I'm pretty sure I had Win7 when I used DDS Converter last and it worked fine. Guess I need to try it and make sure.

     

    Sorry about double post, just needed this to be seen..

    Has anyone figured out how to re-skin the tower ladder? I unlocked, etc... but all i get is a tire, and a few white lines on the dds file.

     

    Well, since I'm a slacker, I assume you got this fixed already 5 months later.

     

    I went thru this entire post before I asked this, hoping I would find the answer, but either nobody asked or I am just blind and missed it.

    So I've successfully reskined my vehicle, and it shows up in game fine. How do I change the vehicle icon (when you click on it) that shows the health status of the vehicle? Will this also change the icon in the call out menu for getting more of that vehicle class? I.E. the LA Mod Ambulance 1 (Basic - white box) - mine is now a Blue unit, can I replace this "icon/thumbnail" of the vehicle with a pic of my reskinned unit?

    Thanks all for the help! This topic did really explain it if you take a min to follow the steps EXACTLY.

     

    Once again, I'm a slacker. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think the icons you need to edit for the in menu items and such are in the Units>Vehicles>*Model*. That's the only place I can think of where they would be at. Not sure if those need to be unlocked or not either.

    EDIT: Hereweard Fyning that worked! thanks a lot man! Now I just have to figure out how to put the reskins back into the mod. All I have for my truck is a box that says missing modfile. What do I need to save it as to make it appear in the game again? I dont know what else to do. I tried the dds converter which apparently doesnt work on windows 7, i tried saving the file from paint.net as a dds file. i tried just renaming the file, I tried to go in and change the v3o to and png file for dds. lol i dont know what else to do.

    So I think the skin is in the game. its just not lined up correctly on the model. I can see little bits and pieces so I'm pretty sure the right skin is in the game, but most of the vehicle is white and little bits and pieces are showing up. Is there a tutorial I can read to figure out how to line up the skins right?

    So I figured it out! I just had to make the skin match up to the paper size in paint.net program, So easy!

     

    It's been so long since I been in the editor but there is a option somewhere to "Center Camera" when your mouse drifts off the grid and it will center the camera back where you started.

    I will not do anymore fire units till after the RCMP mod is finished,I'm too busy with it at the moment. :juggle:

    I don't think I ever put my 2 cents in here since I downloaded it. Great job on putting this submod together. This is still installed in my mods folder and play it every now and then.

    Looking forward to the updates when time permits.

  9. That is something that involves the use of virtual objects (In the Editor) and scripts. I'd recommend learning a bit more about the editor and its functions before going onto something as complicated as the use of Virtual Objects and scripts.

  10. The game just crashes to black screen if I don't have the latest river installed, I tried it. I've also noticed that this is just not an error I'm having with the LA mod, it happens in the original game too, so I started a topic in the technical help section. Thanks

    Yeah, you always want the latest driver. That's why I recommended uninstalling them and reinstalling them thinking maybe something in it was corrupt. I knew it had to be graphic related because it was not texture issues. But I'm glad you got it figured out that it was due to your settings. It'll help others out.

  11. Did anyone every figure out a solution to this problem. My video card drivers are up to date, I've tried reinstalling the mod and the game and re-downloading the mod and the game, so I'm at a loss.

    Adding to squam,

    I would uninstall your current drivers, the game and the mod. Restart the computer and then reinstall the drivers, next the game and finally the mod. It looks like a graphic issue more than actual mod or game related.

  12. Bama, I think I have a fix for your first problem involving the fire trucks not backing in properly..... I think me and a buddy had that figured out but I can't remember clearly since it has been so long. So let me get in touch with him to find out for sure and get back to you.

  13. I'm pretty sure I was suppose to beta test for Cosreski and he informed me last year his hard drive crashed and the files were lost. Sadly, I had to go on leave and wasn't able to get the mod downloaded before Megaupload got shut down or the links broke. So unless he has restarted working on this submod (or someone has the files and willing to upload and post a download link) then I would say no this mod is not downloadable ever.

  14. Thanks. Playing with it now. First try didn't work, but I agree on the BACKUPS, prevent big oops! Will keep trying!

    You just have to alter the script to your choosing. There are 2 places you must add lines to in order for the siren to work on the red cross hummer. Like you said, create a backup and try this. Should work.

    The first spot is at the top where you point the siren towards the prototype. Copy and paste this line underneath the ambulance04 line:

    const char PROTO_RC[] = "mod:Prototypes/Vehicles/01 LA Ambulance/hummerh2_rc.e4p";

    Now scroll down a little ways until you see this line:

    StrCompare(v.GetPrototypeFileName(), PROTO_AMBULANCE04) == 0 ||

    Right Below that, copy and paste this line:

    StrCompare(v.GetPrototypeFileName(), PROTO_RC) == 0 ||

    Save the script, open the game and test it. If it doesn't work, I guess I forgot how to script this game.
