  1. This isnt compatible with the other submods. You need to use something like winmerge or windiff to merge the portrait.xml in specs and lang/en and the infotext.xml from the xml files from this submod. Simply find the folders call prototypes,lang,models,etc, and select them all. Now right click on one of them and choose copy. Now go to the la mod folder and right click in the open. Now hit paste. It should say these folders exist do you want to overwrite.
  2. In the LA Mod folder, open the specs folder and edit freeplaybase.xml for 911FR and EM4 or freeplaybase_d.xml if you have EM4 Deluxe. The xml files can be opened with notepad or notepad2(google it) and then look for lines that have <!-- at the start of the line and --> at the end. Remove those. If you do not see the ATF CV listed, then have you installed any submods besides AUS?
  3. You may want to check out the LED Submod. You could reskin the cars to match your local police. As for the random FBI SUV, it can be done, so I have been told, but I was told it would ve pretty harsh on people computers.

  5. Ok it looks to me like you altered the VO names in the editor and butchered them. It is the only reasonable explanation for whats going on here. So the only explanation for this spawning in FS1 is you altered the VO location. You seem to have your scripting right so there no other explanation. Start fresh but use these scripts with an unaltered map file freeplay.e4m or dfreeplay.e4m.
  6. Keep it to one topic. I didnt say you need an older version, i said you need the MOD, and the PATCH. Download the mod: Extract the Zip. Run the EXE. When its done install the patch file by running the patch exe file. Now you can play, and again please stop making multiple topics on the same issue.

To each there own but this method does help preserve some quality,which is important imo because your taking audio from a lossy file type and converting it to a lossles audio file type, which in theory is absolutely pointless the devs should have used mp3 because in this sake, your taking compressed audio and encoding it to an uncompressed(higher quality) file type. Sorry for the tech rant Anyways in theory, may result in a smaller file size which will in return cause faster loading time depending on file size difference.

  11. Can any one upload the LAPD LED CV? This is the only one I need and the old attachments are dead from the server crash.
  12. The ambulances are the same way. They use a different command, but the code for it is basically the same thing as the police patrol. Only real difference besides one less patrol path, I believe, is that it has a check in it to follow a certain patrol path when leaving the hospital or else it would get stuck.
  13. Warez groups like the ones that crack drm and cd protection to where theres no longer DRM. Some game makers put DRM in to games now where you are forced to have an internet connection to play a game even if you do not want to do multiplayer or something like that. They also do it to where you do not need a cd/dvd in your drive to play the game. Warez groups remove such protection by basically breaking the exe file down and removing the code. This used be done with a hex editor but i am sure things have evolved way beyond that these days. No I dont think I know any one personally that does this, and these groups are usually require you to find them. They dont just supply an email to reach them if there a real group. But anyways its probably best to stay clear of this further before a mod throws a lock on this. It sounds like we could put an if statement in the patrol script but it would require the name of every single traffic light and/or traffic vo which I would think would make the game lag as that alot for it to be checking on a continuous basis.

However, if its set up anything like the rep system vB uses, you can set up the system so you have to spread it around, like you can only + or - 1 post of mine, for example, and then you have to + or - say for example, 5 other people before you can + or - another one of my posts again, so that might be something for stan to consider/look in to. I think the thanks buttons a good idea though.
  15. First off, please keep this to one topic. Do not post 2 topics in different places for the same issue. Secondly, I dont quite understand your dilemma. The LA Mod does come as a zip. It sounds like you only downloaded the patch file which comes as an exe. You need to download the mod itself, then install it, then run the patch. To install the LA Mod you will run the exe file in the zip. To install the patch run the patch file which comes as an exe file. Also, I would suggest you see if Stan can change your user name. Using your email address as your user name is guaranteed to get your inbox spammed.
  16. Nah I found it. Its a Unitrol Touchmaster Delta siren. I wasnt talking about LA. One of our local BCs use something like it. Not sure if it was a touchmaster delta or not as I only heard it once.
  17. Well I suppose I should say primarily. I am sure not every single car has the same siren as what is standard for that department as some are likley reserve cars and they do not have budget to update the sirens so long as the siren works. Im just passing along what the experts himself, Mikesphotos has said. Of course that was awhile ago, but I asked billy recently, and got the same answer that it seemed like the sirens are up to date other then the RAs. Personally I am all for the submod, dont get me wrong. I just dont know that you can get the sirens more realistic but more submods are always a good thing. Kind of OT, but whats the name of those sirens that sound like an old dial up modem combined with something from star wars? lol.
  18. Surely there is one modeler out there willing to devote some time to help a fellow modder out? For what it worth any modeler with a mod in progress that needs some scripting work done, I can do some scripting. Probably nothing from scratch but alterations I could probably due depending on what it is.
  19. Sure it's still a forum, just one where you dont have people competing to get a higher post count. Sure it wouldnt get rid of things like that, but it would still cut back on spam imo.
  20. Well Im not sure you can get any more realistic sirens unless LAPD and other LEO departments have recently updated. I have been doing alot of research and talking to BillyFromHill in regards to things that are out of date in the mod. The only thing I found was the Ambulance sirens. They originally used Timberwolf, sirens, then switched to high-lo like in the mod, and now use EQ2B. Acording to Mikesphotos, the EQ2B very closely resembles a regular Federal Q like that used on most US Fire Trucks. So the only thing that really calls for is switching the ambulance over to the same sirens as the fire trucks in the siren script. Now thats not to say you couldnt switch up the sirens to different patterns, but technically the sirens are pretty real according to Mikesphotos. Mikesphotos once said to me that LA is simply not an exciting place in terms of different sirens. Mikes guide documents some siren info: Hope that helps.
