  1. 5. If someone in a motercycle collision is unconcious but breathing what should you do? Not a recover position right because the person might have fractured bones.

    5. Leave the casulty where they are so they do not hurt their back anymore.

Sorry I can't answer any other questions I only know about ambulance stuff.

Recovery position straight away, you're not going to know if their airway is going to be compromised in the next few minutes and without that they die. If you aggravate fractures or even a C-Spine contravention in saving their life then that's a small price.

This answer also ignores the difficulty that is removing a motorcycle helmet from a casualty...

  2. PCSOs (who dont have the power of arrest unless theyre transport police) going round asking about a handbag thief in a riot van...

    Welcome to the UK!

Oh no, the lowest level police are dealing with low level crime with a spare resource, what an outrage! :P:D

  3. Yeah, if you don't know what you're doing it can be a bit intimidating but the game's are good and the people more-often-than-not very friendly :)

Bear in mind this is the British NRA - not the American one. We sit in a shed and discuss the bore-size of various Enfields :D All it is is an Administrative body that allows me to shoot on their property, as I don't happen to have a 500m range lying around! :D

  5. I crapped myself on Friday night at about 23:00. I looked out of my kitchen window and there's a half illuminated floating face in my garden. When I turned round I could read the 'POLICE' on the back of his vest but the fact he was all in black holding a torch in his mouth meant that all I first saw was his face. He had a sniffer dog with him, seems like they'd raided next door and one of them had chucked something.

  6. I have a 22. caliber Air Rifle. Sure they're only pellet-like in size but shooting a water balloon in slow motion is awesome :)

Not airsoft though. Aw hell no would i do that.

I have a .177 Air Rifle for the garden. Then I am a member of the NRA and LERA so I shoot small and full bore between 10m and 500m :D Might try the water balloons then, cans filled with water are good :) Why no to Airsoft?

  7. Yeah, you know you're in a good division when they're keeping you instructed on everything. I remember the first night I attended, I was collaring and boarding someone in a training evening. All I done was the Emergency Life Support but they thought I'd need it eventually and I might as well get involved! Within a couple of months, before I was even an FA (no TFA back then!:D ) we'd be shown round the vehicles etc.

Our division is trying to implement a board with a local area map and pins with the most common duty locations. These pins would be numbered to a chart that lists most common injuries and most common treatment items needed so you can revise and stock up before you go :)

  8. My first duty was a village fireworks night, bugger all happened but it was good to be out. I doubt Entonox was flying the Air Ambulance despite what that sentence will make you think :P It's up to you to choose your duties, I chose one I knew would be quiet because I was bricking it. If you feel like a man ask for something more casualty intensive, there is discretion on your part. As for Tom, as I Cadet I can see why you'd be ask to stand and watch, there are limits to what we can throw you into. That said, I think anyone below AFA would be asked to step back unless there were low numbers with an incident such as Entonox's.

  9. Uniform: As soon as they have stock of your sizes, you should get it. This means you might not get it for a while or you'll get bits and pieces for it slowly. ID: The ID Card is linked to your DBS Check and will most likely be sent to the home address registered on that form. Occasionally batches will be sent to units. Once again, there may be regional variation so Entonox could have some different experiences! - The OC-D
