  2. wow, i have been here quite awhile now and i can say that i, up until now have for the most part enjoyed being here. But for some odd reason i read this post and the replies and i begin to wonder. Is there something happening between hoopah and the aurther of this post? I ask this because Hoopah's last 2 posts to me suggested there was a little hostility. I understand that maybe the auther of this post may not have put alot of work into this, but maybe he threw this together and posted something to find out who would be interested in this. Then if there was permission from hoopah and enough people interested then maybe the next release or update he would put out will be a better one.
  3. when i start off on the map. i buy 2 other trucks with no personelland also the als ambulance. the 2 trucks that are already in the station i assign them to hotkey #1 and the second set to #2. i do this because if i did both in bay one to a hot key and the other to another then when i click the return to station key usually hey try to get in at the same time and end up either patrolling or who knows where. i exit the bc and fireman and send the fireman into one of the trucks inside, and the bc to the sidewalk by the control box. i then send the bc vehicle away and have another enter the map and send it to the area on the east side of the map just north of the store. i have him exit there and then i assign view 1 to the main firestation, and view 2 to the second bc at the lot. also at the lot i send a chp charger and assign it to #4 and have a lapd expedition arrive with 4 extra lapd officers. i have the officers get out and return the vehicle to hq. i have the extra officers there so when the two chp guys get their life down quite a bit i rotate them out. When i get all 4 officers standing there that need to be replaced i send another expedition and change them out. i also added the fire light equipment truck so i park one of those there at the lot also. I send a diver to the south east corner of the map with a boat and launch the boat and put the diver in there. at the smaller staion in the upper east side i send the bls ambulance back to hq. at the station i get a lapd charger with 2 officers and assign them to #3, the transport vehicle and assign it to #6. i use the transport vehicle to transport all suspect calls from the east side. and also a few from the west side also. I also purchase 4 of the expeditions and staff them with 4 of the swat officers and have them patrol. I also buy the bomb guy and have hi exit the vehicle and send it back. i then get the lapd helicopter with 2 swat and 1 sharp shooter. i have it land and put the bomb guy in there and assign it to #5. Thats pretty much it. 4 swat guys patrolling and i use the 2 bc's to dispatch ems and i only use the 4 fire trucks assigned to 1 and 2 to take fires on the west side. ems handels the whole city thats why its only als. and as for fire on the east side i just use the menu and dispatch what i need since they spawn on the east side anyways. i hope everyone understnds what i said, lol. if not i can post a few screen shots.
  4. i know all the fire stations that i ahve been in, one a few have had poles. but they didnt/couldnt use them due to insurance reasons. so they put plywood around the poles and the holes and screwed the wood to the floor so they couldnt be removed.
  5. i know when playing la mod in multiplayer that some people do have issues with this. although for some reason when they have an issue i dont. so i dont know if its the game or operator error!
  6. there still seems to be a pathing issue with the road to the right of the smaller fire station.
  7. have been playing this map by myself now for a little bit over the last few days. after i play for awhile i stop getting calls for service. ive looked around and i think it has to do with the paths that the people are using. i looked around and there are large groups of people just piled up at certain places. so im not sure if they just arent getting to their final location and not able to disappear or if the actual path is messed up. any ideas? also is anyone else having this issue?
  8. wayne and i played the map in multiplayer and worked pretty good. there still seems to be a pathing issue over to the right of the smaller fire station by the pd there. other than that like i said it was pretty nice. also can we get the gunman but back in the redlight district? it was nice having him tie up the calls until everyone could get they vehicles etc setup. then once they were you could just have police go over there and pick his ass up. and then let the call begin!!
  9. you didnt get it. port 80 is for the internet, so you can surf the web. you need to find out what ports the game needs open in order to forward those ports in your router. thats why noone can see or play with you. the game doesnt use port 80! use the search funtion for this forum, there is already a post that tells you what ports to open.
  10. hoppah, i have a question. if you test out this other version of la mod, the one you mentioned in the other post about making a version that doesnt have so many polygons. will you release an alternate version in the same pack maybe?
  11. if you close port 80 then you wont be able to get on the internet. you will need to find out what ports em4 or 911 uses and open those ports in your router. i believe there is a post on here that lists the ports needed to open in your firewall. just do a search for it. DEFINITION - In computer networks, a DMZ (demilitarized zone) is a computer host or small network inserted as a "neutral zone" between a company's private network and the outside public network.   12. just so you guys know its ipconfig /all there is a space between config and the / also most all of your routers port 80 will be open because it is default port for your internet. if your gonna forward the ports only use the ports you need for the game. if it still doesnt work then you may have to dmz your pc that will be hosting the game so everyone can see you.
  13. try reinstalling the game. your video card maynot be able to handel it either. im running windows 7 and i havent had an issue running the game. also try installing th game straight to your c:\ directory. this will help you if you need to change files in the games etc. windows 7 will NOT let you alter program files if you install it to the default location which would be c:\program files\wizardworks\em4

  16. uh sorry, but it is as much american as it is german. they have 2 versions! EM4 and 911 first responders.

  18. nice map! too many traffic jams. it would be nice to cut them back to a managable size. also there is a parking garage and there are cars trying to come and leave from the same opening. just thought id let you guys know so it can be addressed. love the lay out, also there appears to be a routing issue. when there is a traffic jam on the lower left main rd when you have one of your vehicles trying to navigate around it they go into the forest and get stuck.

(30mb's! large) 2. Move the folder 3 files' to your Emergency 4Mod\Los Angeles Mod v1.x\maps folder. 3. This is a universal file, so it's for both versions and won't replace any file. 4. Make sure all older files will be overwritten (otherwise you did something wrong). You should have replaced this 2 files: dfreeplay.e4m dfreeplay.dds And also added the .eft file. Some info As already announced in my topic of the first new freeplay map am I working on a second edition. As I am closing in on the first beta release of this map I thought that it would be nice to keep you guys updated. The first release of the map will be compatible with the normal and 911:FR version of EM4. So there won't be any deluxe events in the first place. That doesn't mean that you can't play the map if you have the deluxe version. Later if all the bugs are out of the map and if I still have the time I will maybe add the deluxe events. Do's and don't in this topic - Don't ask howto make or modify things. The maps is released as it is. So just except it. News 14-01-09: Getting closer and closer to the first beta release.   20. ok found out you need the files from the first freeplay map to get the second ones to work.
  21. well i guess the real question here is, do you need the original freeplay file from the first new map to run the second map? if you do then you should probably state that some where. i just installed the 3 files you have posted for the second edition and they do not work by themselves. so im guess that you need at least one of the original files plus the new ones to get the second edition to work.

  23. ok just downloaded the files and installed. looks good, but id like to point out a few things. The campground area, there is still construction sound there. probably from the old map. also the path for the vehicle to get to the pd isnt working correctly. when the vehicles come down from the north they keep turning around and going back north in a circle. the pd vehicles make it to the parking lot on the north side and just park there. also since i am using 911 version all of the hydrants are spewing water all over the place. ive tried to get an engi over there to fix, but it wont let it. another thing to look at is you cant click on vehicles. you can drag over em to select them, then assign them a hot number but thats it. anyways keep up the good work!

I am running vista 64, and its a fresh install. drivers are up to date. istalled the game and la mod. went in to try and change the em4.cfg file for the camera angels and wouldnt let me do it. found out its a permissions problem and fixed it. so i change the camera angels and pitch etc. save the file and go intop the game and nothing. still at the default setting. went back into the em4.cfg file and its showing that its been changed but the game is not seeing it for some odd reason. any ideas?
