  1. Hoppah, the above was my reply. I don't know why it was posted that way.
  2. Well, that hit the nail on the head. I had given up on this whole series. The LA Mod brought me back in. I have enjoyed it! But once again, I am looking for something new to play. (Fire/Rescue based) The NY based mods and submods were going to inject some new life into this game for me. I can't understand the infighting and lack of teamwork here. Dyson put it perfectly. Nobody is making any money off of this venture. It is done to make the game and series more fun, to extend the life of its playability. Does anybody really care who made the units? I don't! I appreciate that someone has taken their spare time to do it. If I had any skills at all, I would build my own Mod and put it out to be played. Why? Because it is fun! That's what a hobby is all about. Doing it for the fun of it. I have said this before, but the community should have rallied around Dyson. For our own good. NY Mod guys have tons of models done, and they have the knowledge. The project is gonna be delayed? How about giving Dyson some of your older models so that the submod can get off the ground? QRA? You guys gave the NY Mod some models. Why not Dyson? I don't see how any of that would have taken away from your mods at all. In fact it would have been a good pick me up for a guy who tried to do the right thing and give us some NY themed play. If everyone who had done a NY themed Mod or submod had actually worked together as a team, we would be talking about how much fun the submod is, and how great the full mods will be when they are released. Now we are all wondering if this is the end of this series.
  3. He's right though. There is no need to air dirty laundry in public. Take it up with him privately.

    Q.R.A.

This whole forum has gotten soooo touchy! Suddenly every modder is angry because the fans are asking questions. Everyone here appreciates what you guys are doing. We understand that you have lives. We do too. We get it. You don't have to update us daily with new pictures or youtube videos. However it would be nice for a shout out when things get quiet. "Hey guys, we're still working on things, we've been busy at home or work or whatever." That keeps us interested. This mod has been very quiet for weeks now. Guys were wondering if it was still ongoing. Can you blame them? It would almost be easier if only a very few people knew. Then you could drop a QRA mod on us, and we would be nothing but greatful. Look, between the disappointment of 2012, and the wait for some of the other projects, guys are looking for new things to play. Nobody is mad or unappreciative. We're just bored. We're also excited for these new projects. Take it as a compliment.
  5. Hey b2, I was wondering if things had changed again now that 2012 won't be moddable?

Been pretty quiet. How's the mod coming along?
  7. We appreciate all of your hard work brother!
  8. Hey bro, Who made your Avatar? It's cool.

  9. Keep your head up bro! We appreciate what your doing! Thanks!

  10. I don't see why everyone is losing their shirts over this. Dyson is doing this for free on his own time. He is also trying to give us something that this community has been dying for, and that is a taste of NY. I could understand the complaints if anyone here actually paid money for this submod, but since nobody has actually lost anything, I can't see how anyone can complain. What needs to happen is that the community needs to come together and pitch in and make this project work. If I had any skills at all, I would be working on this project. I personally would be greatful for FDNY, NYPD and NYEMS units and clothing replacing what the LA Mod has, until the NY Mod comes out. If that is too tall of an order, then just replace the units that spawn in the firehouses. I would be very happy with that. Look, in the long run, we all want a good, realistic NY mod. But since that is being developed, and is going to be a while, why not share some units and technical advice? If you have a FDNY Hazmat unit, Tower ladder, or Marauder II engine, how about working with Dyson? If you know how to script the units in the station, how about working with him so that he can get his project out correctly? I count 5 different groups doing a NY theme. (NY Mod, QRA, NY 911 Mod, NY Submod, and Advanced gameplay mod.) Surely someone out there can share some vehicles, clothing, and other things with Dyson so that he can get us a working version of his submod. I'm sure that the favor would be repaid down the road, either with vehicles, expertise or otherwise. The fire/rescue community is a brotherhood. We take up for each other. This community could emulate that by helping Dyson out rather than waiting for him to fail.
  11. I agree with JSutton. Give it whatever time you need to do it the right way. I think that anything with NY in the title will immediately have people calling for a release. That is due to he fact that we have all been waiting for a while for anything NY related. I say take the time you need and do it right. However keep us posted. We don't mind waiting, but we like info. Pictures, videos, etc. You're doing good work, and we appreciate it.
  12. I agree. But it sounds like we'll be waiting for some time. When we get the media package, the game will be close behind.
  13. We appreciate your reply! We're looking forward to seeing the media package!
  14. I hear you brother. I'm just letting you know that us diehards are getting restless for some new screen shots or a major update. We're on your side. We understand the time and effort that you guys are putting in. Believe me, nobody appreciates it more than I do. I understand that you guys want to keep many things quiet until the release. I think that giving us more info and screenshots and such won't hurt your cause. It would get the community more excited for the release. The problem is that we have no idea when that is going to be. We can't ask about it either. So we could go round and round for another two years talking about sirens and getting another 50 pages of BS speculations. If you need help, please ask. We all love what you are doing, and any one of us would bend over backwards to make this the best mod ever. If not, then please understand that we are your biggest supporters. We ask for updates because we are excited about what you are doing. There are plenty of mod announcements on this forum where nobody really cares about what they are doing. Yours isn't one of them. Please take this as a compliment. You guys are rock stars. You've been asked to do an encore. Us fans want more because we like your music. It's a compliment that not everyone receives.
  15. Any chance of an updated street scene? Maybe a fire with some towers in operation? Just a taste to tide us hungry folks over?
  16. This may sound a bit crazy but.......if the publisher of this game was smart, he would hire the NY Mod team to do the US version of 2012. Sorry, but the European version of this game doesn't interest me at all. It hasn't in years. It's amazing to me why a game like the NY Mod hasn't come out already here in the States. I think that they are building the game that American firefighters want to play.
  17. How about a firestorm? Arson in a large, vacant mill factory which is rapidly spreading to an adjacent neighborhood?
  18. The tower ladder has a platform on the end of the aerial ladder so firefighters can stand there. It also has a waterway with a deck gun attached to it. A regular ladder has just the aerial ladder itself, although many have waterways and guns as well. . I'm also a big fan of the tower ladders, and am really looking forward to using them in this game. I gotta say that I am just really liking everything that I am seeing. Should be fun!
  19. I'm certainly not knocking Dyson or his team. I'm not jocking the NY Mod guys either. I am saying that based upon what I see on their page, and some of the features that they are talking about implementing, that their mod IMHO seems to be the leading NY Mod. Can this change? Yes. Is Dyson and his team doing great work? Yes. I think to get the full appreciation from this fanbase, a different city would be optimal. You can do bigger and better things with Boston, Chicago, DC, Philly. Can they do NYC? Sure. But IMHO it would take a whole lot to compete with the NY Mod, which means time. The very nature of this forum says not to ask for release dates. That's good and bad. Who knows when any of this stuff is going to be released? If we knew that both of these mods would be out in a month, which one would you play? Would you feel the same way about waiting for another year? The whole idea of the submod was to tide us over until the NY mod is done. Whenever that is. Now it seems like this mod is changing from a quick taste submod, to a full blown NY mod. I'm very cool with that, but I think that I speak for a lot of people when I say that I will take FDNY vehicles, and a few changes in two weeks or so, versus another year of waiting.
  20. Here's my $.02. Since this is a submod, I say change the models to Seagrave FDNY models for the core units (Engines, straight truck, tiller truck, tower ladder). Throw in the E-One Heavy Rescue, Hazmat unit, satellite, and the new fireboat amd maybe a squad company. Do the same for the appropriate NYPD and EMS units, tweak the maps and sounds a bit and release the mod. That's all I ever wanted out of an NY submod. The LA mod rules because of the realistic units. You are trying to do the same thing for your submod, and I dig that. Let the NY mod be what it's gonna be, and do your thing. I would be happy with an LA mod map, with well done FDNY units. Number them for Queens and remove the palm trees, and we would never know the difference. Let's face it. The NY Mod is shaping up to be the cream of the crop for new mods. It looks great, they are adding new things. We are all very excited to play this mod. Why compete with that? I'll take a nice taste with the submod, and then if you want to take what you've learned and do a Boston mod, or Detroit, or some other city that we would all love to play, that would be awesome. If a kick ass Boston Mod came out, you guys would be Gods! Especially if you teamed up with some of the other modders to really maximize the gameplay. We are not trying to rush you. And since I have no skills, I am just appreciative of your efforts. I'm Jonesing for some East Coast firefighting action, that's all.
  21. I would suggest some type of aerial unit. Maybe called on mutual aid from another county. Even in rural NY, PA, OH, etc., most departments have access to a tower ladder, or straight stick aerial. Tiller trucks are far less likely because that means another driver. Many volunteer houses have a hard enough time getting one driver. What would be really cool is to have the fire be dispatched, and then have the guys respond from their houses to the firehouse in their own vehicles. In PA, volunteers have blue lights on their cars. It would be cool to see that in game. I'm not sure which way you are going with this but what would be really cool is to make a town with one firehouse. That is your mod station. Put and engine, tanker, rescue company, chief, and an EMS unit. Everything else would have to be called from off the map from neighboring departments. So things like extra tankers, tower ladders, any extra help would have to come from off of the map. Maybe delay them for 5-10 minutes so you can get that small town feel. Are there going to be limits to resources as well? What I mean is that in the LA Mod, as long as I have $$, I can keep calling for more help. I could call 12 ladder trucks if I needed. That is realistic, given the size of the LAFD. However, in rural land, you can still call for all that help, but it is going to take forever to get there. Many times fires get larger than areas with paid departments, due to the time it takes to get the proper units there. How about water supply issues? Areas with no hydrants? That would certainly bring out some of the challenges that rural departments face. I'm liking where you're going with this.
  22. Hey brother, I'm not FDNY but I am a career firefighter here in the US. I work just outside of Washington DC. Your work is incredible. We really do appreciate a first rate NY mod. I have quite a few friends who are FDNY, and we can't wait! Good luck, and we hope it comes out soon! We all can't wait to play!
