How do i skin cars?

Hi!

I'm kinda new to this and my question is how do i change the skin on a car? i've searched the forum but i can't find any answer. What do i need to be able to change skin and how to after that put it in the game?

Hey hax, in order to change a skin you need to follow these steps:

1. Hi.

2. Search the .dds file of the model.

3. convert it with the DDS converter to BMP and open it in paint.. If you have Photoshop, use the Nvidia plugin to open it(so no need to convert then!).

4. edit it.

5. save it as .bmp and convert it with the dds converter, if you have photoshop with the nvidia plugin you can just save it as .dds

6. the file has to have the original name

7. drag and drop it into it's original map and when it asks if you want to replace it, press yes.

8. play the game and see if it worked

take always a copy of the original skin you edit,if there something happens with it you have still the original one

i made a police bus that we use here in sweden.

now i got three questions;

1) where is the "skoda"-police car? the little one? i can't find it. and also, it seems like not all models are in the police-map. where are they?

2) can i add more cars, if i want multiple versions?

3) how do i wrap it all up if i want to make an own mod?

hmm... now then siren only sounds when they drive fron HQ, not otherwise. why?

i will not upload the mod or anything like that, beacuse it not my mod. it's for personal use.

It's the STW, stw.dds , stw.v3Ã if I ain't wrong

yes you can clone the prototype from editor by using "copy" and the v3o and dds fiels need to be copyed manually

You load the editor and click on modifications then on "new"

You ened to use the SoSi script then (check hoppahs la mod website for the downlaod link)

edit: the stw.dds is the car from the original game. I was talking about the car in the Czech-mod.

If you go to lamod.emergency-planet.com

there is a link at the top if the page saying "Downloads" if you click on that then under the em4 section click on "Misc" and then you can see the download on that list, if you download it and copy all files to the mod folder then you can add the commands to the vehicles using the editor.

Well, you also need to edit a script for the siren command when you've made new prototype files for your vehicles. I've planned to make some tutorials after I have released v1.5 of the LA mod.
