Or is he a rescue worker? he is a police antiterrorist unit member, like USA SWAT, but they are also trained for SAR on al kind of terrain,... he was sent to Haiti as a member of UN police or sometinhg like that to a peacekeeping mission,,.. and before tragedy that hit Haiti he could leave, because his mandate there was fullyfiled, but he remained to help those people,.. he stayed there for another 3 months, without family, women, children,..
