gendarmerie is a millitaire police they are just like the dutch royal marechaussee. The Gendaremerie task is to protect the border from human and drugs trafficking also to stop illigegal persons They have the duty to protect objects like royal houses, airports and others for example the eiffeltower. Secundaire task can be anything from traffic controle to riot control after a soccer match.
