  1. Hoppah didn't make the engine to engine connection possible. I have been looking into this feature, but have come to a dead end due to my lack of scripting knowledge. Only Hoppah himself could rewrite the code to allow engine to engine connections.

It isn't just a matter of editing the attachfirehose script to allow player to connect to another engine (from one) but one needs to edit the WaterSupplyFreeplay script. And that is quite hard due to all the algorithms and calculations done by it. Even though its simply multiplication and a lot of integral division to get the value of the water in the tank, one would also need to work out all the necessary conditions required to allow engine to engine connections.

It isn't easy. It can be done though.

Yah I was reading the water supply script and all I could say is wow, I personally did my own edits made the engines and tankers larger and longer and then edited their tank amount( I know I didn't have to make them bigger but wanted realistic gameplay and couldn't see an engine that big holding 2000gals or the tanker holding 7500gals) and hydrant wise I think its the perfect amount for a raual area. And on the cutting the bushes that's called improvising something done a lot in the fire service, so nice job on that.
  2. Yeah I think it would be cool to have tones and a pager going off, but it would get annoying if that happened every time you clicked the 'call volunteer' button.

Well maybe they could edit the button one for 8ffs for both engines 10ffs for engines and brush and one fore just 4 for a engine
  3. One question for you. Do you live in a small town with a Paid Department or a Vol. Department? because there are some big cities that don't have that. Let alone a small town in america. Most small town departments have 1 MAYBE 2 engines,1-2 brush units a tanker and a light rescue. That I personally can tell you because coming from a family that has State fire officials i can tell you that that is what most small town USA towns can have. Also, i'm not trying to start a fight. Just trying to clarify what is reasonable.

I don't live there my brother does and and it covers a county you could call it small tow. Detroit without the wide spread poverty, there's ALOT of fires
  4. Remember mate this is a much smaller department. But I don't see a reason to not have the jaws on one of the pumpers as well, its not inconceivable to have 2 sets of rescue equipment in a small department. My main thing is that the jaws NEED to be on the rescue, it really amazed me when they weren't. When I have a wreck I roll a rescue, when the guys get out of the rescue I send them to get the jaws and they start hoofing it back to the station, like what? Then I went back and looked at the truck and it sure did say "Rescue" on it.

And I figured I'd just include the NPS ranger picture here.

    national-park-law-enforcement-ranger-nai

Well here in the us we roll engines on mvas so for us here it would make sense to have the jaws on the engine(s)
  5. Ok I FINALLY got this mod downloaded and I've got a few comments/suggestions

    • Overall NICE JOB!!!! Great mod great small town feel.
    • Might want to have a look at the call ambulance script (from dispatch and PD officers) I've been having trouble with it
    • I suggest putting the jaws of life on the rescue unit, seems like the best unit to have the jaws, really surprised me that they weren't on it.
    • Might want to make some more descriptive buttons for the dispatch for offmap aid, I still don't know which is which.
    • A reskin of the Park Ranger would be nice, as you got the truck perfect but the person not quite. But that's no bigee, shoot me a PM if you want a picture
    • If its possible incorporating the close hydrant script into the disconnect script.

Once again, nice job! I already enjoy it and with the bug fixes you promise in the patch I'm sure it will be even more wonderful/smoother.

I agree with everything but the jaws, here we have the jaws on all the rigs. I.e. 16 rigs paid dept we have on average 7 mvas, 2 fires and more a day
  6. Note that only the new Montana buildings will have these kinds of fires. The vanilla EM4 buildings won't.

Still fine by me because if I had to guess 85% of all the buildings( which I thank and commend you on) are custom.
  7. New download, I fixed small bugs so it's more playable

    • Light on several vehicles have been added
    • Traffic that gets stuck have been fixed
    • Missing wheels are added to the models

I know its not much, but it makes the gameplay a bit better and no "stuck" traffic paths and the missing lights

NOTE: Do not report any bugs about this version, this version is only to fix the main traffic problem :)

Never the less I agree with itchboy, I commend you on charging ahead to fix bugs even though a patch will be out, so thank you!
  8. A question to you guys. How would you like building fires to be?

Original EM4 with visible flames all throughout with heavy smoke and flames appearing later OR

Smoke coming out of every opening of the building, and the flames only appear later.

    Flames appearing later
  9. Damn thats a big area for such a small amount of people. We have 300+ with over 10 trucks for a area smaller than that and we have other surrounding fire districts in the same town.

Yah that's just front line not even talking about reserve
  10. How so. I know a small town Population off 1,525 with a volunteer fire department with a command vehicle, Two front line engine, a reserve engine, Tanker, Rescue, Squad, and Brush Truck.

Must agree brother lives and volunteers in a dept with 300members and 11 or 12 rigs covers a 50squad mile area and has about 20,000 residents
  11. but then it would loose the small town feel

I don't know about where you live but in a lot of small towns in america you will find a station x4 engines x2 tankers x1 rescue x1 ladder x1 rescue boat x1 x1 porta tank i.e.: a 5000 trailer tank used for brush fires where a tanker can't get x2 brush trucks with attachments for porta tank, this is what a fire company has for a county of 20,000 and of 50square miles, with a all very active volunteer dept of 300( all civilians of the county. All rigs are less than 10 years old.
  12. I don't know about everyone else, but (not in the patch) in future versions I think it'd be cool to have maybe a rescue and a tanker in addition to the units already at the station.

Yah maybe a tanker and itchboy/bama I'd say keep the fire spread the same just like above have a tanker and maybe a ladder or something,

p.s. amount of hydrants just perfect!

  13. Has anyone noticed yet the engine sounds in cars and the details on the map texture (that I added in) and the cost of calling units from off map and the cost of calling police units on the police station? I think those are some of the details that I haven't seen in other mods.

No it isnt. Its just my way of saying burning down your town is not the right way of protesting anything.

But if you want, it is entirely possible to create that script.

Yah I have noticed great job by the way! And the map is just beautiful!!

Edit: Oh me and about everyone else I think I can say feels the same way about your way of protesting and NOT burning down their own city and or town.

  14. I love this mod, this is probably the best mod I've played. Is it possible to add more fire hydrants? I think at least one should be placed out of every business and a couple for the residential areas, then some spaced out along the rural areas, just like in real life. This will also give the firemen more areas to fill-up their tanks on their trucks. Keep up the great work, this mod is great.

In real life in a raual area there aren't a fire hydrant outside of every business( even in a big city ), defently not just randomly on the road, and in some places there are no hydrants at all, so I think for a community like this there are just enough hydrants and if you having trouble with water there are two things u can do 1: if thirds a big fire buy 3 or 4 tankers and run them back and forth or 2: edit the water supply script and have the engines/ tankers carry more water! BUT IN ALL I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD AGREE THAT MORE HYDRANTS aren't NEEDED! P.s. sorry for caps not meant
  15. So I have begun rewriting the call vehicle scripts so that they don't run on a constant check anymore. This should end the lag that happens every second.

I have an idea that could be interesting. Make it so that units are finite. Meaning each vehicle costs money and takes time to arrive. Basically replacing the normal vehicle send menu with the commands of the battalion chief and the dispatchers on the map.

    What do the people think?

    Great idea!
    • The map is missing a spawnpoint. Fixed in patch
    • I will reduce the number of checks running in the background for the patch
    • You can turn it down yourself. Just edit the freeplay_endless.xml
    • Vehicle bugs are to be settled by bama1234
    • Will reduce fire spread in the patch
    • I haven't finished writing the call scripts for all units.
    • Spineboard glitch to be fixed soon
    • Rapid deployment is intended to work like that. I want it to be more manual instead of one click setup. You gotta close the hydrant yourself.
    Thanks!
  16. Great work on the mod! I have a couple issues with it. I'll list them below:

    • Rescue helicopter when called doesn't respond off the map at all
    • Gameplay like others have said is kind of jerky or laggy (I have a good gaming PC, don't get this much from other mods)
    • Too many calls at one time like others have also said
    • Lots of vehicles light's do not work
    • The BCFD tanker when called from off the map gets stuck sometimes in the hospital parking lot and just goes around in circle in the parking lot
    • Some police cars don't have wheels
    • Fires could be slower and more realistic
    • The FF in the fire station (not the battalion chief), who is used to call in off map units does not work for all the units.
    • Spineboard problem where on an accident scene, it says the person needs to be put on a spineboard. I go and get one and then place it on the patient and it doesn't show up on the patient but it is on them and says it. When you try to remove it, it won't remove from them and therefore you can't transport the patient.
    • It would help if there was more fire hydrants
    • When you click rapid deployment, it works but then when you click it again to have them remove the hoses and what not, it doesn't really work. Only two of them remove their hoses but then they just stand outside the engine and the other FF's are also just standing outside of the fire engine. Sometimes, one of the FF's didn't close the hydrant and is also just standing next to it.
    • There are a couple other issues, but they have already been posted so I won't repeat them.
I agree with all but one in a rural community there aren't a lot of fire hydrants ( if any ) and personally like that the way it is.
