  1. I was messing around in the editor and decided to make a military base as well as a Harbour station. I think i'll make a Technical Base later on if I can get these 2 to work.

    UPDATE:

    I have made some minor alterations to the military base, and I have created a new harbour/ USCG outpost on the harbourfront. Here are the new updated screenshots.

    I have scraped the gate plan for the military base, however I was wondering if anybody would be able to explain how to use virtual objects and alter the scripts to allow the vehicles in my screenshots, to return to their places. Any help would be appreciated.

    I need help with scripting... Please refer to my post on Page 2.

  2. No, a clarification:

    v1.8 was released earlier this year. I made a patch for it later.

    v1.8.1 is a re-release of v1.8 which contains a couple of changes and the latest patch.

    The mission patch is something else. Good thing is it will be merged in v1.9, that means the main missionlist will have all 30 missions (20 original + 10 LA Mod).

    Oh, very sorry, my mistake. I was misinformed. Apologies for my screw up =P

    Good to know though. That would make it much easier for the missions in 1.9

  3. Well, if you let the fire burn out, and spread throughout the building, Sometimes it can jeopardize the structure's strength... Which would result in a total structure failure/ collapse, which could result in massive injuries & death... considering if it is in a high populated area.

    I don't know... different cities/ departments have their own standards. Can't really bunch it all together.

  4. I think it's also mainly a cosmetic thing. I personally haven't noticed a difference, but I could be wrong.

    Also, like mentioned above, the LAX Crash truck is mainly used for airport fires, and moves quite slowly, and sometimes have trouble navigating the streets considering it is so large.

  5. This is in regards to the bulldozer.

    I've finally gone back to the campaign missions, however i still have the same problem. On the Polar mission, the bulldozer does not unload from the truck. I know it was a bug, and I have downloaded the patch, however, it still doens't work.

    All that happens is that it gives the sound of the truck starting, but that is it. (sounds like a truck starting but it has no gas)

    Any ideas?

  6. this one dos not work if you up load a new map..... is there any way to fix that?

    I'm pretty sure, in order to have it work, you would have to alter the scripts extensively. You would have to move the virtual objects and everything i'm guessing.

    Don't quote me though... I only use the original map, and I'm just assuming that's what you'd need to do. Maybe someone has a definate answer?

  7. Newest? I have English version of Emergency 4

    I'm thinking he may be asking if you have the latest version of the LA mod? (not sure). Also. LA Mod version 1.8.1 is just a mission patch. It allows you to play the original Emergency 4/ 911: First Responders missions using the LA vehicles.

  8. This isn't as simple as just a swap... You would need to refer to the ALS engine script for that... Try basing it off that

    It would have to choose stations, right now, it is just choosing the Station 1 spot, When Hoppah was asked to build station 2, he said it would take a good while, and extra work, because for it to choose stations, that would be very complicated.

    Yeah. I was looking at the ALS engine script as well, but i haven't had any experience with them. So I'm not too sure what to change. I've tried a couple of different things, but they haven't worked...

    I wasn't going to assign specific spots for each battalion chief, I just wanted them to go to the two spots (whichever car it was)

    however, if that's not possible... Would you know how to add a parking space in front of the station? (preferably infront of the control box or just beside it). I may want to just park the battalion chief (and maybe a trailer) out front. (I can just move the trailer and unhook if it's not possible).

    I know you would have to add virtual objects, but would you know how to do that?

  9. I wanted to switch out my HAZMAT Squad for a battalion chief. I was able to get the staffing and car to start there perfectly, however, when I press return to station it says "No room at fire station, vehicle returns to HQ" (Battalion chief at station 1 is there)

    So basically, I was trying to alter the scripts to allow BOTH Battalion Chiefs to go to their respective stations. Just like how the ALS Engines are able to return to station 1 OR station 2

    Does anybody know how I can switch can this happen for the Battalion Chiefs? I've tried comparing the scripts with the ALS parts, however, i'm not seeing it... Can someone help me out?

  10. However, if you wanted, it COULD be done. I currently have a Squad parked in a space behind LAFD Station 1, and one in LAFD Station 2's third bay (replacing the HAZMAT Squad).

    To do this, you would have to alter the scripts of the game, and add virtual objects.

  11. I think most of the people don't use the trailer. And that bug you mentioned is known. I don't know if it can be fixed. It's one of the many reasons why I won't make a tiller for the mod. Sorry. :)

    lol yeah, I think i'm probably the only one who likes to use the trailer =P

    Oh well, it's not really much of a problem. I will still use it anyways. Lol

  12. I am quite surprised nobody has come across this yet... I used the search function but there was nothing coming up when I typed trailer (& trailer, just incase there were spelling errors) into the search bar.

    Anyways, I like to use my trailor on the East side of the map, so I leave one outside of LAFD Station 2.

    I've noticed that the trailors are not actual objects you can say. I can hook them up to cars, and get equipment from them perfectly, however when they are driving, they do not really exist.

    My trucks and cars that are pulling the trailor goes THROUGH the trailor. An example would be when i'm backing up a truck, the truck reverses INTO the trailor, so basically the truck and trailor are embedded in each other. Even my firefighters run THROUGH the trailor sometimes.

    Anybody else notice this?

  13. I think the files will overwrite your changed files. If so, you must just go back in the scripts and re edit them, not too hard.

    I want to use all these submods on the forums, but there are too many files that will overwrite each other.

    Yeah, It overwrites the files, but I was able to re-edit them. However, I've stumbled upon another problem...

    Currently, the changes I have made are:

    - Adding a HES and Brush Truck to the parking lot of LAFD station 1

    - Switched out USAR Squad for a Foam Tender in LAFD Station 1

    - Switched ou the HAZMAT Squad for a HES in LAFD Station 2

    The problem is that my HES will not return to station 2. The HES will return to the parking space at Station 1, however, the other HES says "No room at fire station, Vehicle returns to base!", Even though station 2's bay is free.

    I'm guessing there is something wrong with the LAtoFireStation script, but i'm not quite sure what to change.

    Does anybody have an idea on what I can change so that I can have my Heavy Equipment squads return to both the parking space at station 1 AND the bay at station 2?

    Oh ok... Never knew that.

    I just got the game a month or so ago, and I didn't want to do the LA MOD missions before the original missions, so I just downloaded the patch directly after downloading the MOD.

    Would you by any chance know how to delete the mission patch only? After i'm done the original missions, i want to do the LA MOD missions and mess around with the LASD van and FBI SUV =)

    Also, would deleting the mission patch mess up the scripts? I currently have altered scripts to have additional personnel on trucks, HES instead of HAZMAT, and Foam tender instead of USAR

  15. You would have to delete the corresponding save file from your hard drive/ As for the lag, that is probably because of rain. You can turn that off in the freeplay params

    Where would I find the save files? I'm looking under the "SAVE" file, but all I see is a file called "campaignprogress" nothing about my game saves.

  16. We'll see. I am worried that people change more than is necessary and f*ck up their scripts.

    Thanks Hoppah for this little tutorial. It has really helped. However, i'm having a minor problem with the Battalion Chief dispatching units. I was wondering if you, or another forum member may be able to help me.

    The current changes that I have made are:

    - Switching the HAZMAT unit in LAFD Station 2 out for a HES

    - Switching the USAR unit out for a Water Tender in LAFD Station 1

    In addition, I have also switched the manning of the units so that the:

    - HES has 2 USAR FFs and 2 Paramedics/FFs

    - Water Tender has 2 paramedic/FFs and 2 FFs/EMTs

    - Battalion Chief has a chief and a paramedic/FF

    - Aerial has 2 paramedic/FFs and 2 FFs/EMTs

    Everything has been working smoothly except for one thing with the battalion chief. When I use the battalion chief to dispatch a Water tender (using the call USAR button), it doesn't work. It always says USAR bought for $3500. Even though my water tender is available. The unit that comes from HQ (which i bought for $3500) is also a water tender, but it is staffed with 2 USAR FFs

    When I use my BC to dispatch my HES (using the call HAZMAT button), everything works fine. It's just the call water tender (usar) is the only thing i'm having problems with.

    Hopefully I explained this properly... If you have any questions or if you don't get something, please reply back and I will try and explain it again.

  17. That would be vista's security working against you. Two ways will take you around it:

    1).temporarilly copy the file in question to somewhere outside of program files (like to your desktop)

    2).If you modify files in these folders frequently the better option would be to change their priveledges.

    To do this right click on the LA Mod folder Pick: Properties

    Under the Security Tab:

    You will see a list of users who are authorized in various ways, select "EDIT"

    In the list you want to find users, this would be what your login account is counted as.

    Enable Full control by checking the box next to it, press OK and you should now be permitted to alter these files without being blocked anymore.

    You can always try messing with it, just make sure you make a back-up file before you do anything. So just incase something goes wrong, you can just overwrite your backup files over the files you were working with.

    Practice makes perfect =P

  19. 1. 2 bls engines, LAcoFD squad for victems, 1 battalion chief anlong with 2 ambulances, 2 pd units.

    2. 1 pd unit, tow truck, LAcoFD squad, 1 ambulance

    3. 1 pd unit then call more units both fire an ems if needed.

    4. 1 pd unit if handgun; 2 pd units, swat van 1&2, 1 FBI suv for rifle or multiple gunmen

    You have a FBI SUV in freeplay?? I thought it wasn't included in the 1.8 mod version.

  20. I'm sure there is a way, if you modified some files, however i don't know how to... I used to use a couple of Unmarked Patrol Cars as SWAT units, and to have your officers have MP5s, I just had a LAPD SUV meet up with them, I armed the men with MP5s, and then I just put them back in the car.

    The SWAT officers will always have MP5s until you remove them, or send them back to HQ.

  21. ok so i tried adding new vehicles, i didnt add any to the parking lot cuz i thought it look bad so i just added some vehickes inside the fire station 1, only the ones i thought could fit there no more

    so then i saved the map and alll

    now when i loaded the free play it would load then exit out it would crash

    no i delted the la mod and then i re installed it again but it still crashing any idea why??

    I'm not an expert myself, but I'm pretty sure you have to do alot more then just saving it in the editor. You have to alter the scripts for the game the station scripts and firestationstart script... I'm sure there are alot more. Maybe another member would know more.

    But yeah, but think about it. To SWITCH the HAZMAT with an HES, you have to change like 4 scripts. to ADD vehicles i'm guessing you need to change a whole bunch including adding virtual objects. Also, I'm not sure if you can put different trucks in the same bay. (how would they get out if you needed them)

    That's all I know... Did you back up your files? Try removing the changes you did in the editor and save it.

    just a quick question. Have you had much experience with the game editor ? I am preparing the scripts for you but you will need to add several virtual objects to the map. Have you had any experience with that ?

    EDIT:

    I took the liberty of making a complete download with all the necessary changes, including the maps and prototypes.

    All you need to do is download this file and extract using winrar. The extracted folder (Add Brush and Heavy Equip to v1.8) will contain a folder called "Los Angeles Mod v1.8". If you copy this folder and paste into the 911 - First Responders/Mods folder on your computer (you should already have a folder of the same name in the mods folder), when you paste it will over-write the necessary data to make the changes (when you paste the files you will be asked if you want to over-write existing files - which you do). When you next start the mod you will be right to go, the brush truck and Heavy Equipment Squad will appear at the beginning of Freeplay game - parked at rear of station 1 near the BC and the personnel will be running out to staff the vehicles, both vehicles will now have the tofirstation command (I have also added patrol command to Heavy Equipment Squad).

    It is important to remember that once the vehicles have returned to station, the personnel will get out of the vehicle and you must alarm firestation 1 to restaff the vehicle before responding to an incident.

    Hope this is what you need.

    I have a question. I currently have my game changed so that a Heavy Equipment Squad goes to LAFD Station 2 instead of the HAZMAT unit. If I replace my game with these files also, would it work? Or would these files conflict with the change I've made already?

    I want to have both. =)
