  1. Marshall; Members ideally will get a job and work with their managers/supervisors to establish how they can fit into the roleplays, and what days they can and can't do. There is no requirement of how many hours, or days a week someone must do to be considered a member, however to be considered as active you'll be required to attend your working role. Any days after that, you can either get a second job if you have time spare, or continue in the role as a civilian. With regards to checking it out, by all means, Yes! In my opinion, that's important and I feel it helps people to understand clearly how we operate. Multiple clans, I will relate to what I said earlier, We're fine with that, it's not something we police, however it depends on the commitment you wish to give to us. We are very flexible though :)

Newfoundking; This will be played in game, however there are a few aspects outside of the game. I.E the paying of fines, or purchasing of licences. Even the reporting of patients when received by an EMS crew. This way, there is a clear breadcrumb trail and everything is realistic, as well as traceable :)

Hopefully I've covered what you asked guys :)

  2. Hello! Hello!! :)

So, Grand Theft Auto 5 comes out in about 15/16 days, and now it's about the time to start recruiting for roleplay members! Ideally, if you play emergency 4 you have a bit of an understanding on what is expected of you and what you'll be faced with, especially if you played the LA Mod.

LA Life brings a whole new way of roleplaying to roleplayers, and Grand Theft Auto's Variety & Possibilities, is allowing us to do this! You'll first start by signing upto the forums, then from there you can nose about looking at what business are open, and what public services you'd like to join, if any! Maybe you wish to own a business? Or maybe run an illegal drugs cartel? The possibilities are endless! You get paid by employers, or other criminals which enables you to purchase new licences, or businesses!

Right now, Recruitment is at a peak and spaces are becoming over-subscribed. So ideally, you'll need to being expressing interests in your desired roles quickly!

    http://lalife-rpg.weebly.com/

http://lalife.icyboards.net/ <---- Make sure you sign up on the forum! :)

Can't wait to see some of you guys getting involved!

  4. I have a question for some of you folks across the pond.

I've been watching inside the ER here on BBC America. Why do HEMS ride in on ambulances with the regular medical crew?

i would have thought they would be reserved for helicopter flights, or do they also serve on the fly-cars too?

In the UK all rescue helicopters have a curfew that when it gets dark, the helicopter MUST be landed in an open area and can only be moved when it is light, regardless as to whether or not the helicopter has a patient.

HEMS use cars during this time, but due to the shear fact of the amount of HEMS doctors, its great to have so many out too.

  5. We don't use codes in the UK we use Categories.

Category A= Serious/Lifethreatening- Requiring blue lights and sirens

Category B= not as as serious but requires a mediated response

    Category C= Non-Emergency

I have heard rumors of them creating a new category, called TRAUMA so it'll be Adult Trauma, or Child Trauma.. just to even it out a bit

  6. I agree with Newfoundking.. I admittedly, used 9/11 for a bit of comedy material. But since I received quite a bit of criticism, with my recent material I have dropped. I have a rather sick humor but also a Clean humor as well... I vary myself to make it interesting, I can understand how people can get offended but at the end of the day, its a joke right? If people aren't directly affected I tell them to grow up, but if they had a relation involved.. then I understand.. I was going to make a joke there.. But I'll let it slide :) But I totally understand

  7. Hello Fellow St John Ambulance Members or Forum Browsers,

I thought It would be nice to put up a thread about other SJA members where we can get to know them, and also where we can show off kit :P I look forward to reading posts, and I'll kick this off with some stuff about me/Kit

    About

I am Sergeant Alex Penn of Southend on Sea Cadets in Essex. I am Community First Aid Trained, as well as a Cadet Trainer. In 2011 alone, I have done 145 hours service, and counting. I have been in st John Ambulance since july 2010, and I can honestly say it was the best decision in my life. I love it! I have 2 Kit bags which are used sometimes! If its a huge scale duty, they go out.. Very Expensive to keep going though :/

    Kit

This first is an Argus Trauma Bag Large Edition, kitted to the teeth with top notch SP Services Equipment.

The Second is an SP Services BackPack large, kitted with bandages and Spillage kits from multiple companies. There is a Sharps bin in one of the pictures which I must highlight, had nothing to do with me! It wasn't on the order list, it arrived in the bag, but I gave it to a Private Company

  8. I totally agree, I mean its easy to see how good of a job the moderators do on this site.. IF you go onto most others, they enforce only on anti-racism values, or very offensive posts leaving room for swearing and a few other offensive posts. I love using this forum, and being able to network with so many different people. Also with other forums, moderators don't interact with users, they are merely there to make your life a misery, but here its different. You do add humor to the forum, and interact with us, which I think 99% of the members appreciate. But like everyone has said, there is the minority who like to make things difficult, I always use the London Riot example.. The only reason people rioted was to be able to get at police, and get in with the group. I think this is what happens with the minority of immature users, but of course not on a large scale like that. But you guys doo well, to combat these sort of groups. I think the incident with Michael is a good, clear message to people who do like to cause issues, and be tits in the forums, that It won't be tolerated.

I have to agree about the banners too, I can't begin to describe how frustrating it is when you see all these banners on one signature and its like "Arghhhhh!!"

but agreeing with pyrofreak, you guys do a good job.. I was being negatively critical, and to be quite honest, I didn't really have a point..

  9. I think you're great moderators and you're more proactive than I have seen in a long time on many other sites, and for such a small team you bring a good spirit to the members. I merely was attempting to look at both ends of the spectrum, but Like I stated focused on negativity and criticizing rather than actually praising you for what you do already. I also agree with banning them because of the signatures.. It gets on my tits when i can't get on the site to look for updates.. I should of really read over my post, and displayed praise and positivity rather than negativity and criticism. Personally, I'd rather not get involved with the group who hate moderators and status, that would probably demoralize me. I enjoy getting into discussions, and I'm 101% sure, you guys enjoy bringing in your own value of humor and view to the forums.

But once again, I do apologize for being so negative!

  10. The response by Voodoo was on a basis of more than just that one topic. This guy has had it in for the moderating team, and really, he was just itching closer and closer to a reason to be banned. As for the see ya when I say so, well that's on the terms of an indefinite ban, meaning depending on his response to the contact made by the moderation team. On numerous occasions, this happens. You're banned for something, and then depending on how you respond to the ban, that determines whether we unban you or leave you to sit in the other world.

A continuation of a ban would look something like this:

Go **** yourself you *****, who the **** are you to tell me what to ****ing do. You can't tell me what to do, that's against the law, it's free speech.

And no, I'm dead serious, that is a PM I received when I banned someone for tearing into a member because they posted in the wrong forum. Did I mention he used every curse word I knew (and I had to actually look up 2 new ones).

As for the debate, I'll make a topic, and it will be under strict control.. If you've got a problem voice it. But follow the rules of the site, because it doesn't matter what your problem, if you come in cursing and swearing, you're temp banned for however long deemed necessary.

This member can deal with his ban with us privately though, as he has lost his right to post, due to the inability to use it properly.

Yes, I agree I don't criticize the ban feature whatsoever, I get quite offended by cursing and On other forums I have received messages like this... I receive more personal, and in depth ones though...but luckily I'm thick skinned

After reading my previous post back, it looked really negative and a more of a biased post by looking at only one side, by which I apologize for, profusely.

I agree with revoking his right, if he is going to abuse it then by all means do so for the good of the forum community. I feel rather guilty at the moment for having a very lopsided post, and once again apologize for looking at only one side.

I do think the debate Idea is a good idea, just to have members discuss the rights and the wrongs of the forum, and have everybody agree.. if you where I'm coming from?

  11. Nah, they got a ton of cuts here too. Town nearby made the very stupid decision to completely shut down police-run EMS, leaving about 16 people (Including my brother) without a job to "Save Money". And guess what, saved no money. They broke their an ambulance within the first month. They hired completely incompetent, fresh out of the academy EMT's with no experience in EMS. As a result of their incompetency and complaints from police saying they're incompetent, they now have to have a full staffed engine run with the ambulance on every medical, costing only more money. And they're only paying more to have 4 or 5 more paid guys on duty, and have to pay full (ridiculously high) salary to a new officer, the EMS Captain. In addition to all the town and fire department expenses now, the residents also pay about $100-$150 more than they paid for police EMS.

Sorry if that turned into kind of a rant, but I just wanted to get my point across about how so many of these cuts to 'save money' only end up costing more money and don't help at all, like shutting down entire paid departments.

Anyway, just to give examples of other places, Cities like San Diego have a rotation for which few engine companies or entire stations get placed out of service monthly. Only increasing response times, and we all know that those extra few minutes can do more damage, or even be fatal.

It wasn't a rant at all, its useful information to know. Before now, i thought America wasn't really affected by the cuts. Its a horrible time at the moment for all generations, and I sincerely apologize for your brothers job loss. I had an interview with the NHS in england for an Ambulance Call taker.. and when I was told its not garunteed that I'll have the job long enough to get paid, I basically told them to stuff it. Its a very difficult time for business and family, and especially with the holiday that is literally within arms reach!

We had a story about a response time out here, It was a Category A shout where by the ambulance needed to be there within 8 mins. I believe the response car was there within 48 mins, and the actual ambulance arrived 1 hour after the RRV. Quite bad at the moment :/

  12. A request from myself being that moderators of the site start a new thread why by active members can discuss some sort of revamp and say on some of the moderators. It has been bought to my attention on a few occasions that some feel the need to abuse their authority of the forum channels. I may not have high status in this forum, but feel this will be beneficial to secure the future of further visitors coming and joining.

I had been itching to do something radical, and you just gave me an excellent reason to free the beast within. Thanks.

See ya when I say so.

Such comment like this one, is purely unprofessional and in some circumstances, intimidating. Not to mention the other incidents including this moderator that I've experienced myself, and also a few others.

By all means, I will include my own evidence ad scour for more across these forums. I do believe that bullying or intimidation of any kind is strictly prohibited in these forums..

By all means you may ban my account, or even my IP if you feel its necessary, But I am purely a member of the forum who has seen to much abuse of status and authority recently, and find it sickening that the regulator(s) of the channels allow it to happen.

Personally, Newfoundking I have no problem with you whatsoever, but forum members deserve to have an input.. and i believe a controlled debate thread where members can talk about issues is much needed in circumstances such as this..

As a moderator on several forums myself, I understand the common ins and outs of procedures and rules, the procedure for banning is being abused. I have seen the debate session take place many times on forums, and have seen how successful it is.

  13. Yeah I see what you mean.. Nothing like us British then. If they wanna make cuts, they'll make sure its done in a couple of days, let alone a few years! But will definitely keep an ear out, I have a few friends in varied roles all over the FBI, its quite interesting to read that 5/8 knew about it :)

  14. I had a look, and even E-mailed several of my Contacts in the FBI. It arose, that they aren't taking them off the streets entirely.. YET! They're taking them out of secure areas and shifting them to more "vulnerable" areas. But in a couple of years, estimated 7, they'll begin to phase out experienced officers into agent positions, but will bring in newbies. I'm not even sure that I should be posting this, could be a secret operation or something ;) AHA! But yeah, if I get anymore info.. I'll add it on

  15. Voodoo is so right, everyone is so soft these days. There are like 3 anti-bullying clubs at my high school, I've never been bullied in all 11 years of school. Granted, that can't be said for everyone but damn, my parents complained about bullies and how they had to show them what was up. That's what we need these days, too many kids that cry about it instead of doing something...I'm going to make a grow the fuck up club at our school if we some kid makes another 'Everyone is Equal! Club'

This message brought to you by the fine folks at Brawndo

    brawndo01.gif

Your clearly not as advanced in Psychology. Its not about growing up, its about the bullies having something in their own background and mind. There shouldn't be bullying, why should people be made to feel worthless?

ANYWAY, back on topic before a major discussion starts. If you'd like to discuss bullying, and people being too "soft" then start a new topic on the forum. I don't want anymore posts on here, if its not to do with this clan.

  16. That thing on top looks like from Star Wars or something. ;D

And about the police Scania truck:

They bought the truck to see into other trucks and crackdown on crime, which was featured on an episode of TV once: "Motorway cops: deadly distractions". Then they put livery and lights onto the truck and it now features as a promotional vehicle in police shows etc, but obviously isn't in service (no way safe to patrol or respond in).

Yeah I saw that episode, its simple yet soo effective. I was certain I saw a Police Cab pulling a heavy load once, it may have been a private company.

  17. Is that the British Police interceptor? :holdglass:

Ahahahaha, Could be ;) Would be great in a PIT situation :)

Apparently that truck is entirely promotional, not a service vehicle ;)

Ahh I stand corrected, Thank you for clearing that up :D

I totally agree with Sgt alex4028, that are some pretty nice emergency vehicles

They're quite nice, the Evo is to a high spec too, you can imagine the engine on it :)
