I was a volunteer fire-fighter in Switzerland, and actually Captain in the Civil Defence, who is an obligatory service like the military service but more like a Search & Rescue Service. The Civil Defence in Switzerland is dependent of the OFPP the "Federal Office of Civil protection" like the fire service. But the OFPP is also dependent of someone, this someone is the DDPS the "Federal Defence, Civil Protection and sport.
