3 saved in water rescue

Recommended Posts

I am proud to say I am a member of the rescue squad that successfully found, rescued, and transported 2 juveniles and one adult after they were seen floating in the reservoir in our coverage area. After their kayak capsized, 2 kids and one adult man were floating in the water, kids with PFD's and the adult with a floating object. The squads water rescue services were dispatched along with a BLS both with full crews. Crews on the water rescue team successfully found and saved the 3 after a prolonged exposure to the water. Upon assessment all 3 were found to be moderate to severely hypothermic with core body temperatures ranging from the low 80's to low 90's. The BLS crew did a phenomenal job in warming the patients including wrapping them in the EMT's own turnout gear, uniform shirts, and of course, many blankets. Just want to say KUDOS to the crews last night who selflessly jumped into the frigid waters and the BLS crew who sacrificed life and limb, and their clothes, to keep the patients warm. Great Job to all!

20 miles is pretty far for a kayak. Idk why people go out in the waters when the temp is that cold too.
