  1. I would love to see different engines in the list to be called from off map. You gotta admit that it looks a bit odd when there are for example 2 engine 10's at the same incident. Just think it'd be nice to have the ability to call engines that aren't based at one of the fire stations on map.

    Just a thought....

  2. @the Mod Team: first of all, the mod is absolutely amazing and visually stunning. Big ole Texas sized kudos to you guys.

    And now, a minor question, which is if you guys are working on new voices for the mod? It's just really off hearing the old voicetrack from the original EM4. However, if you don't change the voices, listening to them is an extremely infinitesimal price to pay for the privilege of having such an awesome mod to play.

    Thank you so very much for all your hard work and creativity.

    Oh, and one more thing, I happen to like the fact that this mod is a bit more difficult than the LA Mod. I think it really lets everyone know that this is NOT just New York set in LA and is a totally different animal.

  3. Both are very good.

    its just the matter of time.

    when em3 came out it was the best one there was.(kicking 1 and 2's ass)

    but then EM4 came out, and owned the other 3 of the series.

    So i would say 4 is better then 3.

    But 3 is still very good.

    (hopefully i see EM5 comming, and that will kick 4's ass) :cheers:

    edit: this is just wishful thinking.

    I have all 4 of the Emergency games, they just keep getting better but they're all fun.

  4. To clarify just a bit on the TAC channels, they are usually line-of-sight short range channels used on the fire grounds.

    For example, say they is a structure fire and a woods fire that tone out at roughly the same time. The OIC of the first unit that arrives at their scene usually says something like "Engine 1 on scene, Capt. 1 establishing Brown Rd. command. Switching to TAC 1." At this point, everyone with a radio switches to TAC 1 and the engineer of the 1st in truck monitors the main dispatch frequency on the truck radio.

    The crew on the other scene then uses TAC 2 for their fireground ops.

    This keeps the dispatch channel clear for subsequent calls and calls for additional units.

    There again, this was the protocol for my department and varies by agency. As a general rule, TAC channels are not capable of using repeaters.

  5. ^thats doesnt mean it cant be over done. Like what FireLT described, does sound like it could be over kill. If you have a vbar on top I dont think you need all the deck and ash lights of a slicktop. If you have a lightbar on top, wig wags or strobes in the brake lights, and possibly a low key LED set up on the sides rear deck by the brake light is good.

    My point exactly. I know the purpose of the lights on a vehicle as I was a fire apparatus engineer for nearly 6 years, but I also know when it's being over done.

  6. While I understand that emergency lighting is very important, so departments just go way overboard with it.

    One of our local departments utilizes all the deck and dash lights you would see on a slick top unit, plus front and rear stealth strobes, wig wag's, outside rearview mirror strobes and they top in all off with a decked out V-Bar on the roof.

    The bad part is that department policy says they keep everything lit up on a traffic stop. All those lights just sitting there create a major traffic hazard in my eyes, but what do I know.

  7. All I gotta say is that if the US is such a horrible place then why do we get a flood of new immigrants from all over the world on an almost daily basis?

    Sorry, that got us a bit further off topic, but I had to say it.

  8. Because I hate them. After the World War 2 they got troops in every part of the world with no reason. They had one attack on 9/11 and they made two wars for it. They kill millions but when somebody else kills some of them they begin to talk about union and patriotism and other bullsh*t. I don't have any problems with American people but I think that they should use their million guns against their politicians and companies CEO's instead of joining the USMC to kill some damn terrorists. They talk about union and their great country but still millions can't have proper healthcare. When Obama said that he was going to change that they accused him of being a socialist. This what a President has to be. A fuc*ing socialist. He must care about the people not the companies and the whole stupid capitalistic system. During the Cold War Americans have seen/read/heard tons of anti-Russian and anti-Communism propaganda and they are afraid of them now.

    Get your facts straight, it wasn't just one attack on 9/11. The attack on the Twin Towers is just the most publicized, but there was also a 757 that crashed into the Pentagon and the terrorist-controlled United 93 that went down in Pennsylvania.

    Oh, and lets not forget the terrorist attack on the USS Cole a few years ago.

  9. Right wrong or indifferent, we are commited to a war we can probably never truly win. The Russians tried to pacify Afghanistan in the not too distant past and got their collective ass handed to them. War is a big part of the Middle Eastern psyche and wars in the Middle East tend to go on forever.

    I don't want to step on any toes, but to me not supporting the war somehow minimizes the sacrifices made by our troops. Our guys are fighting this war not because it's what they've always dreamed of doing but because it's what their country requires of them. I don't think anyone truly comes home from the war truly unscathed. They have almost to a man seen and done things that have left them scarred forever.

    So, do I agree with the war? Absolutely not. But, do I support our troops and the insurmountable task before them? My answer to that is an unequivocable yes.

  10. Close. In the Editor, once you've loaded your version of the LA Mod, click on the ALS Engine (7?) in the Vehicles, 02 LA Fire... etc. On the Right side of the vehicles list, click 'Edit'. Click 'Edit Traits', Whereupon a new window will appear with several choices. There's a checklist of Equipment on the Rig. Make sure you highlight/check the Jaws of Life box. Now, once you click ok, ok, ok again and again until you're back to the vehicles list, your change has been completed. Now, I would also suggest, I'm not sure if it's required or not, but, go into

    "C:\Program Files\WizardWorks\911 - First Responders\Mods\Los Angeles Mod v1.9\Units\Vehicles\Fire Department" or where ever your version of the Mod is. What you NEED to focus on is, once you're in the correct Mod, go into the 'Units' Folder, then the Vehicles, and finally Fire Department. Look for '110fireengine1.' Enter that folder, right click ok unit.xml, left click edit.

    Find:

    			<equipment>
    <unit id="FIRE EXTINGUISHER" />
    <unit id="FIRE HOSE" />
    <unit id="CHAIN SAW" />
    <unit id="AXE" />
    </equipment>

    paste this in that slot:

    			<equipment>
    <unit id="FIRE EXTINGUISHER" />
    <unit id="JAWS OF LIFE" />
    <unit id="FIRE HOSE" />
    <unit id="CHAIN SAW" />
    <unit id="AXE" />
    </equipment>

    NOTE: There are TWO areas this needs to be done.

    Hope that helps :)

    Thank you, guys! Got it going.

  11. Yes, I already tried to search for this....

    I'm trying to find the topic about adding the Jaws to the ALS engine. I added the Jaws to the ALS units earlier, but I musta done something wrong because my FF's go running off towards the nearest other Jaws equipped unit even if there isn't one on scene. They never pull the Jaws off the ALS rig.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. :23_31_4:

  12. Basically, all you need is you. If your dept. policy is to take your turnouts with you, then do that.

    In volunteer depts., it happens way too many times that there are 50 POV's at the scene and nobody thought to bring an engine. That's why my old dept. banned responding in your own vehicle to fires.

  13. A Camry Police car? Y crown vics and Chargers are meant to grab attention. I know some people in the LAPD, so here's why they choose these kinds of cars, and not lame Camry's. 1. Lack of power. A Toyota does not have the power to keep up with most street vehicles today. Maybe back in the 40's, but don't worry. DOT has some Priuses, so you and your environmental friendliness can roll with DOT and their boring job. 2. Making a Police presence known. A Camry just does not have the presence a Charger or Crown Vic has. When a Charger or a Crown Vic pull up, it's very recognizable as a Police presence. If a Camry came rolling up, it would be like "What is this, a joke? my late 90's Ford Taurus can beat these guys in an outrun." When it comes down to it, will a Camry keep up with a Ford Mustang? With even throwing a turbo on a Camry, it's still "rice" in the tuning world, because a stock Civic can outrun it for the most part. So, thats an inside to why no1 likes the Camry. I have a huge hate for it, and I drive an Evo 9, lol. The more horsepower, and the larger and more noticable appearance, crime rates decrease. That just won't happen with a prius. And F150's have the same noticeability.

    CAMRY=FAIL

    16 Year old girls and people who can't afford the small difference between a Camry and a Civic. It is a weak car, that is not even considered for stealing by most thiefs it's so lame. You have more chance of getting a Honda or a Hyundai stolen. So on that note. lol. LAPD k9 car I think is the best, or the SUV.

    Never said i was fan of a Camry as a police unit, just stated why there are none in service.

    I have always liked the CV's, for better or worse, but the Charger is winning me over more and more.

    And now..... :1046276160_schildbacktotopic:
