Yes I realize I didn't spell performance correctly in the title, no clue if I can/how to edit it.

I'd suggest you wait. Performance is screwed across the board, no matter your hardware. I don't think it's worth the current price. Perhaps it'll go down by a few % on the steam holiday sale.

FPS improved a bit. I went from 10 - 20 on High to 35 - 40. The game still has insane RAM issues though.

Steam download of the game was only about 7 GB, although it's about 16 GB on my hard drive
Compressed files perhaps?

I feel that with this game they just simply put did not properly test the product at all on any variety of systems out there, even using a few purchased off the market out-the-box computers would've enabled them to see the types of issues people are running into.
I'm pretty sure they knew about the issues. It's impossible they didn't test it. It feels like they rushed the game, even though it's been delayed several times.

The thing is the "but its playable" in my opinion isn't really an acceptable standard for a published and paid for game like Emergency 5
Imagine if people said the same thing about cars. "It's stuck in first gear but you can totally drive."
-
I don't understand how people are getting low FPS if they have the required minimum spec, as my computer is below minimum spec on GFX card as almost 6 years old, but matches all other minimum spec requirements just and it runs fine, on low settings.
But if you have minimum spec of course it will run only on minimum settings.
If your having problems, perhaps look at what else is running on your computer
It's not properly optimized. It doesn't matter how good your computer is, it only runs fine on certain cards. I really hope they fix this soon... Everywhere people discuss this game there are tons of people with recommended specs reporting horrible framerates. One of those would be me, I meet or surpass all recommended specs and still get shitty fps.

So your claiming fraps uses zero resources?
Currently I have Fraps running. It is using 5400kb(Not even six thousand out of eight million available) of memory and less than 1% of my CPU. Having Fraps running while not recording does not impact your system performance in any notable way. My CPU does not come close to 100% load while playing any game. I have not claimed running programs doesn't use resources. I said it will not degrade your computer. Very different.
You don't seem to be too keen on the idea of looking at your FPS, and I get that, but please don't claim the performance issues is because of people running other things at the same time. I would have to run several thousand of instances of Fraps for it to make any difference.
I also judge a game by how it looks and responds. When I started Emergency 5 I noticed stuttering and texture pop in. I clicked the Fraps FPS hotkey to see my FPS and noticed it was around 15. I then thought I must be doing something wrong. I restarted my computer, updated drivers and tinkered with settings. Nothing helped. I then noticed people on different forums also had low FPS on even better systems than mine. Emergency 5 is not playable(at 1920x1080 with a stable 60fps) for a majority of the players and that is a bad thing that the publisher is responsible for. I bought a game, not a slideshow.
You know what? For the sake of argument I will close every single running process that I don't need to play Emergency 5 and see if I notice any stuttering. I will also unplug all but one monitor as that could have an effect. I'll update this in a minute or two with the result. Edit: Yep, still horrible stuttering with every non essential process gone.

Yes why would I install something that could degrade my a systems performance thus most likely hurting game performance.
Installing Fraps for example will not 'degrade' your system, or any system. But you seem decided, so I'll stop asking

I never bother to check fps in over 20 years of playing with computer i am hardly going to start now.
Would it do any harm? It's obviously your decision but I'd be quite interested in the number and it's not like it's a huge task.

Emergency 5 is a game running 2014 graphics
To be honest I don't think it looks that good. At least not to justify the performance issues. They should have fixed this before launch. There's no way they didn't know about this if they properly tested the game. I'm very disappointed in how the launch turned out. Hope they fix this soon. Personally I won't play it until it's in a playable state, and 10 - 20 FPS is absolutely not playable.
-
NO clue what my FPS is because I never monitor that in any game. I go by any lag or stuttering I have.
Could you check your FPS? I'd be interested to see it. I've seen people will all level of hardware report horrible FPS. I get 10 - 20 and I've got a 290.
-
You can't even play it at 1920x1080 at 60 fps with the best graphics card on the market. I really hope they patch the performance issues soon. They should have delayed the game until this was fixed imo.
-
To everyone having issues with performance: lower your screen resolution down... That is the area that is most strongly affecting your lagging unfortunately. This game appears to try to use the highest your res supports but that isnt a good idea.
I might be missing something here, are you saying that playing on the highest res your screen supports is bad?
-
cant even get my game to work... pre ordered on steam. re downloaded twice and every time i go to open it all i get is a black screen any ideas?
Have you done the standard restart and update of everything?
-
Ah glad to hear, hopefully its fixed things.
They added a brightness slider but otherwise I don't notice anything different. It was 172MB so they must have changed something more than a slider, no clue what though.
-
Oh really? Well if it does fix that and the other problems then fair enough, but they have had plenty of time to fix it before releasing the game.
Just got the patch now, will report back when I've tried it a bit.
-
After watching this gameplay footage, it looks better it doesn't seem as buggy so maybe the patch which they were talking about fixed things.
That's actually my video, heh. You can see some path finding issues in it, but nothing too major. My biggest concern was the horrible FPS.
-
but at gamescom they told everyone that the gameplay footage was still in Alpha phase or "testing"... Yet from the gameplay video it looks exactly the same from gamescom, they said that the vehicle collisions/pathfinding was because it was in that phase.
I've seen people mention a day 1 patch that's supposed to fix a lot of that. Can't confirm it though.
-
Please post your systems while reporting bad performance, this will be forwarded to Sixteen Tons Entertainment
Like I said before, getting 10 - 20 FPS on all graphics settings.
My system specs:
i5 3570
Gigabyte 290 Windforce
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Samsung 840 Pro SSD
-
Below 60fps, High settings, ultra just tanks the fps.
I'm getting 10 - 20 FPS on all settings, they make no difference. Currently downloading the AMD beta drivers, hopefully they'll help. Although I doubt it since they came out before the game.
-
What framerates are you getting?
-
Just played a bit and I have to be honest, the game runs like absolute crap. Unless this is a graphics driver problem or what have you, I'm very disappointed.
Do you think EM5 will work with low spec computers?

Even high end systems aren't getting acceptable (50 - 60) fps so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
