Thanks bud. Did they make any changes to it (improvements, patches, fixes) since the Gamefly version?

My digital key was no longer working. So I went to the site where I purchased (Gamefly) and now they say that they're closed. They refer you to Direct2Drive but I can't seem to find the game EM4 FR911.

Any suggestions????

Upload your logfile for one, dx compatibility is just one of several issues that can cause the game to not work.  Under windows 8 run it as an admin is an important one, some run compatibility for XP, but on all the newer os computers I've had I did not have to do that, only admin was required... Could be a video card related issue, your drivers may be incompatible,, or the actual card it's self.. DX diag can help figure that one out, but the logfile is the one that we need to figure out what's going on in your game.

The Operating Systems Vista + don't have the old format of DX on them, as DX progressed they ceased providing essential files for "obsolete" games/apps that were never meant for the newer OS setups, so as time goes on more and more programs can't run on them without help.. Anywho, I tossed this into the download center to help people who have a fresh install of one of the new OS's that'll have DX10 or newer on it, realize your directx diag will still show the fact it's a newer version than DX9, this is normal, it just adds in the files that are missing to make it DX-9 compatible.

I think I spoke too soon. I tried launching it after the installation and the same thing happened. The installation looked like it went successfully. But unsure what else to do now....

Sure it does. But then if you run other games (which most of us do), they have later versions of DX installed.

EM4 runs perfectly fine on windows 8 64-bit, I have had it installed on two separate machines now, is your windows 8.1 an upgrade from a previous version of windows? (IE XP/Vista/7) or is it a fresh-install of 8.1 only?  If the OS is fresh and not an upgrade from an existing one, you're likely running into problems with not having a directx old enough to run EM4, the latest bundled versions of directx are missing some of the files that older games require, so you need an older version of DX to compensate for this fact (I believe that em4 needs DX9 to run).  Also make sure that you run the game as an administrator, under win8 this is a requirement to make it run right out of the box for the OS.

In Norway the doctors only respond to serious injuries and conditions like strokes and heart attacks. The two paramedics riding the ambulance are capeable of handling everything else.

So preferably I would like to see that the EM5 paramedics could drop the stretcher and treat the patient, then take him to a hospital as seen in some EM4 mods.

At least that's what passes for real world here in the US.

I hope they release a small tutorial soon for the editor! I want to quickly make some things to try it out, which out having to play for hours to figure one small known thing out!

Same model, just edited the scripts to enable it to carry a doctor.

Yeah, I thought that was odd that the doctor was not riding in the ambulance. Must be a UK thing? Seems like more resources needed to have him responding in a separate unit.

Hmm... I'm still feeling my away around EM5. All I can say is "meh"....  maybe I'm just used to the LA Mod and other Mods (plus all the variations made to it.)..

I have no idea why it's prompting anti-malware alerts but I assure you the files are not malicious and are safe.

Yeah, that surprises me too.

It's a little laggy for me....   my desktop can easily run any of today's PC games (including FarCry 4, COD AW, etc...) with no lag whatsoever.

Some of you mod, some of you don't. almost no one understands. EM5 was a huge step for the companies that worked on this game. A literal start from scratch to create something we've never seen before, and they achieved it. If you feel the need to say its disappointing or mad please, step up and create your own game from scratch with 0 bugs, 0 issues. Its why patching systems exist. When a large product is made, it's very rarely going to be flawless.

You may want to provide some examples of what the "huge steps" might be. That way, people may see what you're saying and understand.

Haha, FSX? Thats not that hungry a game. Its not like X-Plane 10 I guess you mean. XD

 

Ironically, people have been moaning about EM5 on steam forums being too basic, wow X-plane 10 they give you like two aircraft, really poor for its price.

Apparently in the options you can it so you can micro manage more, be aware of this people, im having to redownload the whole game due to a steam epic fail, sigh, so will check this later.

The connection I was referring to was the fact that FSX is cpu driven rather than graphics card driven. Given everyone's posted concerns, it seemed like an FSX forum of sim woes rather than your typical gamer complaints. I think the EM5 game was expected to run fine. But from what I see there are some experiencing lag.

I'm pretty disappointed with the game. There are not many new features but a lot of necessary commands are missing (e.g. cones, firefighter/ medical equipment, siren control...) In addition it is very unrealistic.

 

What do you think about it?

 

Overall I find Emergency 4 with mods (like Los Angeles, Copenhagen....) much better than Emergency 5.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. A few new nuances that I'm not really a fan of. But I'll give it a try.
