  1. The game still loads up to a black screen, then crashes after about 15 seconds. Attached is the new logfile after verifying the files through Steam. Thank you to all who have taken time to try to fix this problem

    Is this loading mods or something else? If this is a fresh install that you haven't had working yet have you set the resolution in the config file yet? Otherwise try searching around a little as that sounds like one of the regular crashes that is usually fixed.

  2. Did that, then did some looking around in my video files for the game and noticed a lot of the supervisor videos were blocked in the properties. I fixed all of them and had a flawless freeplay session. Now I just went to go back and play some more and got a crash again. This is incredibly annoying.

    I understand your frustrations as I myself had them. If you could upload your log file again or check and make sure the files were not blocked again for whatever reason by Windows more insight may be provided.

  3. I'm having a issue very similar to that which others have been mentioning except for one difference as far as I can tell. I will start the game (runs flawlessly), load a mod (works flawlessly), load up freeplay (works flawlessly), then once I'm in game I can play. There is no lag, all units and everything loads correctly but then after anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes in there is a sudden CTD. No error messages or anything appear.

    I've looked through my log files over and over and can't find anything. I have called AMD as this seems to have began after a recent driver update and their solution of wiping all graphics drivers and reinstalling hasn't worked. I have tried the codec tweak fixes which I thought solved the problem for one game and then on the next start up I was right back where I started. If anyone has any answers I would greatly appreciate it.

    EDIT: Just attempted the MPC method as described above, no change.

    If you did install MPC and then did the drivers wipe I would uninstall it and reinstall. As well install a codec pack such as the CCCP codec pack as that might have other required data. Make sure to restart your computer after doing this and then try again. You have the same dynlight error that I previously have had and fixed by following those steps.

    Unfortunatly it is still not working, however I am now getting a different error than the original one in the Logfile. It appears that the MPC has worked and fixed some complications, so thank you for fixing that

    Looking at the second log file you provided there a quick search of the document shows no errors appearing in the logfile. Some details of your current issue and possibly just attempting it again may help.

    Also if you have a Steam version of the game I would verify integrity just in case.

  4. I'm confused, what does MPC do and how will it help?

    MPC contains codecs that, for whatever reason, EM4 requires when playing mods. I was consistently plagued by CTDs when attempting to play mods for a consistent 2 month period after uninstalling MPC by accident and the problem was resolved recently when I reinstalled it.

    Quick look at your log file shows that you are also experiencing the one single exact same error I was.

  5. I could play before but it has randomly decided not to work mods anymore. Probably at least 2 months now.

    Crashes a few minutes after loading the mod. I can however play free play, did a half hour game yesterday, and the campaign without any mods active.

    Administrator should be on, will check next time I try.

    PC specs should be in the dxdiag in the first post but running:

    -Windows 8, possibly 8.1 if the computer updated

    -Radeon 6970 (or 90) with 2GB vram

    -FX - 4350 OC to 3.9GHz

    -8GB Ram

    If by none modded the answer above stands. I do get CTD in the campaign but usually after a story mission completes.

    Have tried with Harbour City 4.6.1 and Northview: South County mod since last reinstall. Previously have tried using Mayberry Mod, Montana Mod, and others.

  6. If it is the exact same issue then I am beginning to think that it may have something to do with an update or change with the AMD drivers. Not sure if anyone else has the problem though.

    Lots of troubleshooting with installations left right, and center as well as trying every driver and other solution I can think of doesn't seem to be working thus far.

  7. Hate to double post but just to ensure it is seen....

     

    I looked at the link provided and it seems to have fixed the issue. What I personally did to solve the issue was to uninstall the codec pack that I had installed. I then reinstalled my current video drivers and restarted. Then I installed the community codec pack and my issues seem to be resolved.

    I've been experiencing this CTD for a bit now. When I load the game it works fine on the start menu. Playing the Campaign it generally works until the end of a story mission before crashing. Free play of the base game seems to work fine for endless amounts of time.

     

    However when I load any mod, I have tested several, the game crashes within ~5 minutes of starting. It gives me just enough time to get some units into the game before it decides to crash.

     

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 3 times now to no effect.

     

    Thanks for the help ahead of time and hope that this issue can be resolved.

     

    DxDiag shows that the drivers are from 2014, I assure you that they are up to date.

    Do that one too... make sure you update the video card driver manually (don't rely on windows and/or the computer manufactuer's crap to do it).

    I did update manually. Or as manually as AMD makes it.

     

    Also, downloaded that and ran the dxsetup. Again still not working. I get the same thing I have been which is essentially a game that is looking to start and then stops right before doing so.

    2. If you want, try updating to Wind 8.1, Don't really think it will do anything but.

    1. That is where I downloaded it from. Says "You must be running windows 98, windows millenium, windows 2000, windows xp, or windows server 2003 family to install directx 9c."

    2. I would rather not unless it works as just an update. I have everything as I like currently.

    What sort of Graphics card are you running and have you played with the game files at all? Also I don't have to run as admin and I run Windows 8.1

    AMD card, only thing I did in game files was change game resolution.

  11. You could try updating your videocard drivers they could be why you're crashing the game, also make sure you have an older version of directx installed (directx 9 I think it is).

    That is my only issue, tried installing dx 9 and was told I couldn't because of my windows version. I'm running windows 8.

  12. So, I have updated drivers and tried man other fixes but EM4 doesn't work! I just bought it today for a first download. I am running windows 8. Here is the log. If you want a Dxdiag just let me know.
