  1. acutely i find this game is much more polished and play better then Emergency 5. and that even after patch 1.3.   Wish they would put more effort in emergency 5.  But I suspect they done with it they made there cash grab and working on there next game.  

     

    I'll admit that this game had potential but it seems like RondoMedia just puts games out quick and gives you eye candy while not really paying attention to what users want.  They are an odd software company.  And I agree.  I don't know what Emergency 5 was other than a big mess.

  2. You are right, it is hard for a single player.

     

    The limited water supply is very nice.  At first I was wondering why you put 4 ff's per engine but I love that running the deck gun uses one and you have a pump operator running the pump leaving essentually 2 hose pullers.

  3. I understand. It is just a idea but I thought a small mod like the Miami mod but from chicago would be very cool.

    Naw, I just tinker a bit.  I'm in IT so I've been trying to find the time to learn scripting a little better.

Hey, I'm not trying to be a Debby Downer but I'd ask you to take a look around the forums and keep a mental note of how many mods have been left unfinished, abandoned, or finished incomplete and compare those with the handful of actual mods that have been completed.  I'd ask you, or any other perspective modders who don't know "poop" to consider lending your skills to a team that is already in the midst of a mod and has the potential to complete a sucessful mod.  Again, not picking on you specifically, but if you have been a member of these forums long you will see dozens upon dozens of "announcements" followed by dozens of "looks great" and "can't wait" posts only to not see the mod come to reality.

Hey all, this is a question for more Sr. modders.  I'm a longtime player, and I've messed with some of the setting files and really easy map editor stuff over the years.  But I was wondering if someone could point me to a tutorial on how to create events?  Or better yet, walk me through a simple one.  For example, in the LA mod, how to I create a fire event in a building that normally does not catch fire.  And to bring it to the next level, same thing, cut how do I create the fire even only interior so that the firefighter has to force the door.  If you have anywhere to point me, please do

    I always have trouble with the .rar files. Can someone please explain to me what I should do saving wise or opening wise when prompted? I try to save it then open with 7-zip but it always gives me trouble and won't transfer the files to my mods folder. Any help would be appreciated.

    You can use 7-zip just fine. Right click the .rar and select 7-zip -> Open Archive. Then just drag the drag the folder into your mods folder in your EM4 install location.

  7. Hey everyone, I'm looking for some info on editing maps. I've seen some tutorials out there and I've read many of them, but I don't see much stuff for map editing. I do have some coding knowledge and a Computer degree so I should be able to pick up stuff pretty quick. I have some specific questions to start then I'll play on my own. If you have some time to help, I'd appreciate a little question and answer session on this thread.

    Some Basic Questions:

    1) How do I Import a building that is in a folder, but not already on the map?

    2) When moving or deleting buildings, how do I change/alter the texture of the land under it. For example, If I move a house, the driveway still remains. Or some maps have sand traps in a golf course.

    3) Is it easy to add/move waterways?

    4) If I copy a building that has an event tied to it, will the event be copied as well (I'm guessing not).

    Some more advanced questions:

    1) How do I create an event? Does anyone have a small tutorial on that or would someone be willing to walk me through an easy one?

  8. Man, what else could be done with such a great mod . . . I'm all about the fire emergencies. I wouldn't mind a few more fire calls. I really like the ones that have several components like put out the fire but break down the door or put up the stick to get the victim. I few (minimal) large scale responses would be cool similar to the train crash. Like a plane crash or something. I'd kind of like to see more structures on the island and some emergencies out there. But since that station is there, most fires and stuff are easily dealt with because of the quick response. I'm really open to anything, just more more more :)

  9. Ofcourse it's bug free when you remove like everything.

    The only thing that had to be removed was the huge buildings.

    The scripts were fine, and only needed some tweaking.

    V1 was great, but not playable by many because of the huge amount of big buildings.

    Remove those, tweak scripts and maybe add some more, and the vehicle adjustments and you have a V2.

    This is not a V2. This is a V0.5

    I appreciate your work, but you kind of destroyed it.

    It has always boggled my mind why anyone would even try to create a mod anymore with all of the negative comments and pestering. Dude, WTF?

  10. Alright for all of you that jumped the gun lets chill out yeah?

    Version 2 requires you park any units you wish to use for the game, by default ALL STATIONS WILL BE EMPTY.

    We also released with a few rigs not lit, because we were short on lighters, we advertised a lot, this is easy to patch though at a later date.

    And the traffic, for real? We got so much grief about traffic, so we reduced it to an easily managable level.

    Anyway, yeah, around 6 months work there guys, nice to see you're disappointed.

    I'm sick of having to defend my mod to you guys.

    Cool, can you park any rig in any station or are certain rigs assigned to certain stations like in V1 (Dragon Fighters station, I think)? I'm looking forward to playing.

  11. Dude I'm talking about v1 version.

    And I'm saying that the lags on V1 are old news, it has been talked about and talked about over and over again and it is a tired topic so let's move on. Each comment about lagging is like a little dig. The MM team is currently working on V2 and have updated the forums to reflect as such. Move on with the times.

    How is "too bad V1 lags on my computer" constructive to the mod at hand in any way?
