Quick update.

 

Several hurdles have been cleared in the de-bugging process. All that's left, for this version, is to re-do a couple of units, re-skin a few units and make some other misc changes.

 

Assuming no major setbacks are encountered, the Montana Mod will be released on July 29.

Did I miss something? If thats the release date then I'm bummed because that gameplay looked fantastic.

On another note. I played the mod today after I hadn't touched it in a while and I notice the vehicle lighting bogs down my computer's performance. The lights look fantastic but my computer is pretty mid grade and only on this mod do I get some sloppy framerates. Any suggestions?

Well June - August is my Summer, don't know about you guys. I've already got a release date in mind, but for obvious reasons we're not gonna be releasing official dates until we're 100% ready and in the process of beta testing the final release candidate.

Yes, there will be 2 map variations available around november time. This will just adjust the map to winter, keeping with the changing seasons. The main v3 will be released in Summer and therefore will feature a summer map

Crappy is an understatement! haha but yeah got a hard copy, bought both CoH and OF expansion, I was very pissed off to find that you can just patch up to the expansion, waste of £10. But yeah the mod is up to date, but when I load up the mod it just loads the normal game, so I updated all the way to 2.062, and now my game wont load, I'm sick of this game already and only played one skirmish, even that wasn't great the enemy spawned a blockade of tanks. Driving me to despair!

You can't just patch up the expansion, you actually have to buy the expansions to get their additions. The patchs are just developed side by side so the versions for the most part remain the same. I haven't played COH in a while but back in the day when you launched a mod if you didn't include the -dev command the mods wouldn't load and the shortcut would just launch regular COH. Try the Battle of the Bulge mod, it's has an auto installer and is fairly simple. I would make sure you play the vanilla first before jumping into mods since mods tend to add onto vanilla gameplay in more complex ways.

I loved this game so much the first few years after it came out. I'd play the campaign first in the vanilla game to get used to it though.

Hardcopies kind of suck for COH these days unless you can intergrate with Steam. I have OF and COH boxed but during a sale I shelled out like 3 bucks for the complete pack on Steam and it's a lot less hassle. Relic adopted Steam and now you kind of have to adapt or die.

Fortunately, I'm one that would help in those situations. Since I'm a member of the USAF Auxiliary I have an obligation to help in a crisis anyway (though I may not "self-deploy"), plus I have my First Aid Certificate w/ CPR so I should be protected by Good Samaritan laws. I find it utterly ridiculous how little society today cares for one another - but I suppose that's just human nature to want to help yourself first.

I think we would all like to say that, personally, I think I would help in a situation like that too. But I guarantee you at least a few people did want to help but were scared shitless, a man with a gun that has just shot a uniformed officer in the face is likely a man that wouldn't think twice about shooting anyone else. yes the British army is taught to conserve ammo, remember up until 1985 we still used single shot weapons. The L1A1 SLR. Which had a longer range than your supposed 10 feet (rofl). But thanks for the nod, yes England does train their rifleman to fire at ranges of up to 300 metres, which means when they fire they actually hit the target. I believe the us marines like to keep their enemy at such a distance (longer than arms length) that they can't identify whether or not it's an enemy that's firing at them or friendly fire. Hence why Britain have a far more accurate infantry rifle than the US.

In what world do you live where you think it takes more than 3 rounds to incapacitate or kill a person, even 1 well placed round will kill a person, as when a bullet hits the body it doesn't always go straight through (like the movies you watch). I know a guy who got shot in the chest and the bullet exited through his wrist.

Have you even fired a weapon before? Most calibers WILL go straight through. Only certain types of bullets will devastate the body after it enters. The most common self-defense and military calibers go through and through. I also doubt you know a whole lot about the military, because modern warfare is all about suppression. It's been like that for sometime, in fact I guarantee this notion that you think that your troops actually can kill a Taliban insurgent, who I seriously doubt would even consider getting closer than 200 meters to a Coalition unit, with only 3 rounds in succession is completely ridiculous. It's clear to me you have little understanding about firearms or about the wars we are currently engaged in. In what world do you live in where the enemy is actually going to stand in the open and shoot at better armed troops, it's not going to happen. It seldom does. The Taliban are hardly seen, they shoot in dense vegetation and from concealed positions, as they should if they value their lives. I hate to break it to you but British forces are not all that much more conservative when it comes to shooting back with overwhelming firepower. Here's a video in which British soldiers not only use suppression and indirect fire, but also call in an airstrike. All things which you don't seem to accept actually happen in war because apparently in firefights everything is close and black and white.

Found out my vision might be an issue as I'm .50 points above the refractive error maximum but my recruiter seems to think it will be waiverable but with a shrinking Marine Corps I'm a little concerned. I really don't know why I got so much hate for saying America is so powerful. I'm not even trying to say it like it is a great thing, I agree with many foreigners that our agenda is wrong and that we need to seriously rethink our priorities but to say my country isn't extremely powerful is being naive. I'm not trying to say the United States is a righteous and moral country that uses its oversized military to fight evil-doers, now that is naive. Unfortunately I think our nation building is an illusion that many Americans fall for, granted, nation building is still nation building and we are trying to make working governments that function for the people. America, like every country has it's ups and downs, but considering how a lot of america is focused towards activism now, it's sometimes hard to see the ups, especially when a lot of the media attention (including interwebz) is about how bad the country is.

Also, when I posted previous, I saw about 30 different lists of nuclear weapons, and russia outranked america on every one... you need to remember, russia has a harbour that houses a huge chunk of all the world's nuclear resources, so they've got a helluva lot of stuff. That's the common misconception I always hear, is that America can obliterate any enemy with their seemingly endless supply of nukes... Unless Russia has removed a lot of their weapons since the last count, they still outrank the US.

Well I think in terms of numbers Russia does have more, but in terms of operational nukes the United States is still on top, we have more long-range ICBMs than Russia and have nuclear subs that sail the globe.

And I wouldn't say america has the best army in the world, they're undisciplined and they're answer to 1 person shooting at them is to obliterate an entire square mile with a ton of ordanance.

How is that even plausible? 3 rounds per enemy? Are you trained to get 10 feet from the enemy? Even then that would be ridiculous as a 3 round burst probably wouldn't even kill the person. Hell, police officers are taught to shoot more rounds than that at close range.

I think you all completely breezed over what I am saying, we have the strongest military, strategically, technologically, everything else except maybe quantitatively. That was my point, however I also was trying to say that my country is not one that should be applauded. We wage wars for purely political reasons and we are powerful because of it. When I hear the word American I think of a very powerful entity, but one with very dark motives.

America seems to actively seek out trouble...Not one decade since the 50's has america not been involved in some war or conflict. These wars have nothing to do with invasion of your own country but simply to throw your weight around and in a few cases you went running with your tail between your legs.

I'm arguing about power not morality. Our country loves war, that's why we have a massive military. Every single conflict we involve ourselves in is a powerplay, we install puppet governments all across the world. We have been doing this for a 100 years now. Across the globe are dictators or rulers installed by American backed coups or revolutions. I'm not saying America is a great country in the aspect of morality, but in the aspect of power? Nobody comes close. We have bases and military installations across the globe, our navy is the largest and most advanced in the world, our nation effectively controls the world's oceans. No other country can match the scope of American power right now. It's an empire we have established, sustainable given our current economic situation? Probably not, but right now our country is arrogant for a reason. We are the most powerful, the most righteous? Hardly. We actively seek out trouble because our country is power hungry, we involve ourselves across the globe militarily to maintain control. The United States doesn't send off it's kids to get killed just for the hell of it, the politicians do it to maintain American global supremacy. It's fucked up and it is disturbing but that's the way it is.

I don't understand how people have such a problem with the desecration of bodies when two groups of people are actively trying to take each others life by deadly means. War is ugly and our media doesn't sugar coat it quite as much any more as it did in Korea and the wars past where everything was looked at with positivity and glory. The Taliban aren't even trying to destroy our country, they just want us out of their country and they want control. In all liklihood we can probably reach a compromise with the Taliban when they experience enough bloodshed and allow them to have some control in exchange for some US control. Al-Qaeda are the ones who want America to fall and they have to be killed to be stopped. They are two different entities. Not that I expect you to understand because apparently your arguments are based around sensational journalism rather than the facts.

I'm not trying to glorify my country, because I think we have some serious moral problems. But to argue that the United States isn't powerful is just being ignorant.

I think this country is filled with jingoistic, ignorant, jackasses that do nothing but make us look bad. In fact, I think this group of people makes up a lot of this country, which is unfortunate, and it's also why we elect officials that do nothing but warmonger and shit all over the constitution which was established by the founding fathers which would scoff at the United States that I live in today. Hmm, the most sucking mod i ever have seen maybe you guys should try to make your own stuff, instead of stealing the rights from Rockstar Games and their models and textures from Grand Theft Auto IV. And copy all the stuff New York Modification made. Is there even any kind of stuff you guys self made? Voodoo is so right, everyone is so soft these days. There are like 3 anti-bullying clubs at my high school, I've never been bullied in all 11 years of school. It used to be a great drama, I mean it was never supposed to be some sort of realistic depiction of day to day firefighting in NYC. But after season 5 the show turned to utter shit. The themes now are non existent and they seem to keep trying to add these twists which really do nothing to add to the plot. Enjoy watching the first few seasons while you still can and just pretend that season 5 was the finale.

ArmA has always been an unoptimized mess, but the community is certainly there, I really don't know of any other community that pumps out as much content with as much depth as the ArmA community. Yet, I shudder to think at what kind of super computer will be needed to run ArmA III well.

There is also Red Orchestra 2, big modding community, but I think it would be hard to take that community from Tripwire's official forums but I would still be game to visit a RO 2 community here.

As far as Cities XL goes, I 'own' it. I enjoy it, but it does get boring when you actually get a big enough city if that makes sense. It becomes kind of redundant when your basically following the same pattern.
