  1. A sad day in Emergency Modding History... Your works will be missed & at the same time put to good use! Glad to read that your going to at least stick around in the forums to share your wisdom! Lets all hope that 2012 will be motivation for your prompt return to Modding!!! To the things you've shared with us for the last 5 years!

  2. Saearch the forums for "water supply"

Well help us to help you. We arent exactly designing a game here, just working with in the perimeters of what sixteen tons has given us. If you cant even tell us what you changed theres not much way to help.,

I didn't repost what I did since I was following the directions that were posted as a quoted response to my first post about this issue. I can name 100 times that I was chastised by the "admin" for not reading back in the forum, or for reposting things that were previously posted, in the 3 or so years I have been a member of this forum. But if it helps I am willing to deal with the flack.

"you cold try to reduce the traffic within the " freeplayparameters.xml" ( make a backup first and don't forget to think about the UAC if you are using Vista or Win7 , because otherwise it will not let you save your changes )

look for a line like this <vehicletraffic factor="2.0"/> and change the number to a lower one ..... there are multiple lines like this in the above mentioned file , which correspond to a certain time of day or something like this ( something about timezone )

you will have to start a new game after this changes to take affect"

I followed these directions explicitly and changed the values to 0.5 all this did was seemingly make the problem worse or it may have had no effect at all I can't be sure. I also tried downloading Hoppah's Patch I found in another topic. (also noticed that some how I ended up posting in the general LA Mod Topic although my first post about this was in the bugs topic... sorry for that). But that is all I can say about it cause I don't know too much about coding or script writing sadly. Any help would be awesome! :s

  3. What did you exactly change? The spawnpoints of the vehicles on the map? Lowering the spawn frequency basically spawns a vehicle every 0.5 second (+/- the offset time).

To be honest I have no freaking clue man I am no programmer or game developer... All I know is that I get frustrated with the game after about 20 minuets. I used to be able to play for hours. I saw a post in here a bit back that stated something about the traffic issue being fixed so tonight I re-downloaded the patch and it's still just as bad. Please help me with this cause I don't even want to play anymore at this point.

  4. You know, we know the uses of a vehicle, that is not an issue, finding a legitimate purpose to make the thing in the first place is what we do. We do not wish to waste our time creating things just because they are cool or serve purposes that are exactly the same as existing things, or add nothing really interesting into the game. The heavy rescue, in honesty was added to test the capability of the function, since as you can tell people are having problems with it (which we figured was going to happen) we don't pursue things that are that complicated. Not everyone here has great connections and great computers so we can't sit here and make rediculously complicated things left and right without ruining the modification for everyone other than the few that have the computers to run it well. Our goal is to keep this mod as friendly as possible to ALL users, so we choose things very specificially after weighing in on many different factors, factors most of these suggestions will never take into account, and you know what? That's fine, but don't assume that we can't think of things you guys do, occasionally someone comes up with a new idea that might actually add to the mod something interesting but most the time all it would add is a ton of headaches to the game that would pobrably cause 80% of the people to spend alot of quality time in Tech Support or Bug Reporting things that we can't fix without removing the vehicles/persons in question. Love it or leave it there is only so much we can do to this game and that limit is getting to be set in stone, due to many different factors. We already planned several missions but at this time we don't have that kind of time to pursue them, so we're doing the best we can to focus on what we feel is a priority. I am not trying to be rude or mean here, I am just trying to explain why we can't do half of what ya'll want.

 I have a problem with the suggestion bashers, sometimes I think that the things you and Hoppah say are stupid but I don't flip out when you say them. If I want to suggest that you make a 18 wheeled USAR truck so be it. But don't sit there and tell someone there idea is bad just because you yourself did't like it. Just simply say it can't be done or you'll work on it noone is going to be mad if you can't do something but there is no need to publicly castrate the idea. WHY DO WE ALL PLAY THIS GAME? HUMMMM... BECAUSE WE THINK ITS COOL RIGHT? WOW! So then why is it such a crazy thing to add a vehicle because it "looks cool" isn't that the point. Its sad how many great ideas are shot down because 1 or 2 people think is stupid. The majority of people will keep there mouth shut just so they don't get bashed as well rather than agree with the "so called stupid idea". I sit and read these topics and posts and find some sweet ideas and think to my self wow that would be cool but that is only my opinion. Everyone on the forum has the right to their opinion. I have personally been belittled on more than one occasion and find it to be extremely disrespectful. But have to sit back and laugh at the same time because the same people dishing it out are the people sticking up for Hoppah and all the modders like they are better then everyone and can't ever be wrong cause they made the mod. Don't get me wrong I think the things the modders do are awesome I mean come on the LA Mod is better than the game that its based on! All of you guys/girls should be getting paid to do this as a matter of fact if you figure out a way to sell it I would buy it! Hoppah you are the man but sometimes people forget that this is a "Fan Forum". So to conclude my rant here you may not want to be rude or mean but you are in fact extremely disrespectful. :excl:

  5. Depending on demand, I could release version with original crown vic ems seperately, otherwise I can talk you through which files to remove before copying the changes to your LA mod folder. Either way, it can be done.

So far with the interest generated for the AMR Ambulance, it looks like it will be added as part of the complete package.

    Take care

    Shane

Love the AMR idea would be cool should look like this http://www.aev.com/scv2/. As far as the EMS car maybe you could do one vic and one suv but a color change would be sweet red and white or something but would be nice if it looked a little less like the fire BC vehicle.

  6. Hi Madman,

I have just this morning received Hoppahs kind permission to add scripting to do just that. I will be altering the Firstation script so that Fire Engine 1 and 201 are in front bay of Firestation 1, Fire Engine 2 will be located at Firestation 2 and Fire Engine 3 and 203 will be in the rear bays at Firestation 1. Engine 1,2 and 3 (ALS Engines) will respond if called by Battalion Chief, while Engine 201 and 203 (BLS Engines) will respond to a call for BLS Engine or as part of the light force with the Ladder. Hope to have ready for download in the next day or two (hopefully).

    Take care :D

    Shane

That is going to be awesome! Just wish you would have used the old slick top i just figured out how to get that in my game! Its cool though can't wait for it!!!!! ( :1046276128_motz: had to reformat my laptop so i don't even have the game right now need to buy it again :wall:)

  7. :news: I installed the map & floor to the 1.8 mod everything runs smooth but the USAR squad & the new HVY rescue are not in the fire unit menu. The USAR spawns in the firehouse like it is supposed to but if you loose it you cant get a new one... I know there isn't going to be an official fix due to wood working on a new map but if anyone has any ideas for a possible quick fix lemme know! (at least thats what happened when I did it)
  8. Had no idea powercall was illegal in LA :o

Some sirens are illegal in some cities/states, take for example New york, you won't see a fire truck with a Q on it, I believe it's illegal there, not sure why.

Actually there is allot of FDNY apparatus with Q sirens they can't buy them anymore because federal stopped making them but you just take them off the truck you are replacing. I love the powercall my local department uses the power call in the chiefs vehicle and the BC vehicle. I made my own version for my game it has the Q, Air horns, R6 Power Call, R6 Air Horn, 6 Adam, Hyperyelp and the 6 baker.

  9. I am a little confused on where this file is suposed to go when you download it. Can someone help me out.

As long as you have the LA Mod v1.7 properly installed its very simple go to the extension C:\Program Files\WizardWorks\911 - First Responders\Mods

extract the RAR files and copy the LA Mod 1.7 folder and paste it in the above folder and you should get prompted to overwrite and or replace files yes to all and thats it!

if your not using 911 - First Responders it should be something like C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Emergency 4\Mods

  10. Really? We're pulling NIMS into the game? If you REALLY want to be accurate, each light force and engine would have a captain, so that resolves the NIMS ratio of command to subordinate problem. The way you mention NIMS makes it sound like the BC is the only supervisor-role in LAFD, and all supervisory and management tasks HAVE TO be assigned to a BC. Realistically speaking, not every fire station has a bat chief. One is plenty. The captains play an integral role in daily function and MCI functions. The other thing, the bat chief SUV does not double as a paramedic rescue.

WOW! someone who knows what there talking about... LoL come one man we could go on all day with unified command and things like that... you took my point and killed it! Simply speaking you missed the point i was trying to make but thanks for your input on a solved subject! short of someone scripting a captain for each engine we need to assume that the BC and the ems captain are the only fire/ems officers in this scenario. The point of bringing NIMS into it was to make a slight reason so to speak for a BC2. Assuming you are not an LA city nor county firefighter i can't see any direct operational knowledge to base your statement on. But assuming that somewhere in LA there is a station with 4 engines running 4 man crews, a Truck company, 3 ALS Units, and a HVY rescue like in this game. That would equate to ruffly 24 fire and EMS personnel on duty that would absolutely meet the criteria for two BC's and an EMS captain alone. Then add a 2nd station in the local response area with a haz/mat, engine, and BLS unit an additional 10 fire and ems personnel on duty, 34 men and women to 1 BC!(don't think so) Then factor in call volume, coverage area, and the Nuclear power plant... Most metro cities have stations with 2 to 3 pieces of fire apparatus not 9! Not to mention allot of them are farming out there EMS to private company's ie: Rural Metro & AMR that have there own command structure... at any rate my bringing NIMS into it was nothing more than to make a point that a 2nd BC would not be so far fetched as to call it pointless! BUT FYI I am well aware of the full operational aspects of both the ICS system and NIMS as a graduate of FEMA ISP's Professional Development Series as well as ICS 300 and NIMS 900. I am also a 911 communicator and work with NJTF1.

awesome LOve it Thank you very much! but seriously anyone know what files i would have to move to change from the 1.7 slicktop to the 1.3? PLEASE Help

  12. I wonder what it actually adds, it's just too useless.

Nevertheless, you got permission to release those changes.

Will add this topic to the 'Approved submods' later. :)

Interesting comment from the one that is always so concerned with realism? I think it was a great idea & improves majorly on realism! Next should be the LAPD Chargers! And if you get bored should make a BC2 SUV so one could have 2nd BC for Fire Station 2. Because as far as ICS & NIMS regs would be concerned that one BC has way too much man power to control! If we are looking at it from a realistic aspect. (Under the NIMS, an appropriate span of control is between 1:3 and 1:7) NIMS= National Incident Management System

  13. When the ambulance crew gets out of the ambulance, they sit there and don't go in the hospital after a call.

I have actually had an ambulance (just 1 als ambu) sit at the hospital for like 10 minutes and the crew never went inside, this is a common problem for me. The ambulance and ems car cant get down the street where PD is to go to the villas section they get to a point and keep turning around and going back and forth. The haz/mat unit problem previously noted, I think the problem there may just be that there isn't proper room for the vehicle to make the turn i have notice sometimes the engine from that station has to back into the bay. also when you have an MVC on the high way when you send units back to the fire station or the hospital that construction site makes the emergency vehicles take for ever to get past causing major traffic backups. And those damned pigeons they block the road all the time i have to send patrol over to shoot them so my units can pass. I love this Map please don't get me wrong it is fantastic but i reinstalled 1.7 cause those bugs drove me nutz!
