  1. As a firefighter / paramedic those posts come off as arrogant to me, and that's not what we see our job as really. The vast majority of firefighters I have worked with like helping people, but the like breaking stuff and playing with fire more, but its not politcally correct to say that to the public lol.

  2. Hi there!

We're hosting a contest over at Emergency Bricks sponsored by/ in partnership with the BURN Documentary, the one that follows the the members of the Detroit Fire Department. It's open to all, all you have to do is submit entries based on the Detroid FD or the documentary itself and you're up to win one of 6 prizes.

For those of you who build LEGO fire trucks as a hobby, consider getting in on the fun, it's all for a good cause!

  3. Just to add on about NE Ohio FDs & Volunteers

Ohio Volunteer Firefighters are trained and certified after a 36 hour course (Just enough to get you hurt they say)

They may go on to FF1 (120 hours) or FF2 (240+ hours) if they choose to.

There are 100% volunteer departments which leave the station unstaffed and most respond to scene or station when the call comes in.

There are departments making a transition to day-time staffing of peak hours in which they pay 2-3 vollies to man the station. More departments are doing this as volunteers (especially in NE Ohio are becoming more rare)

There are combination part-time/volunteer departments which is self-explanatory.

And there are Fulltime (Career) departments and combination Career/Part-time Departments. These departments put out "manpower" pages when a call comes in and the duty crew leaves the station, at which time the part-timers and full-timers that are off duty respond in to man the station and get paid by the hour to do so, if it is a decent call they may end up going as well and another manpower page goes out or a mutual aid company covers their district for other calls.

Career departments may also operate an "auxillary" which doesn't do emergency responses but more of a support role including anything from fundraisers to on scene rehab / red cross type duties.

All departments in Ohio (and the country really) utilize automatic & mutual aid. Automatic aid being when a certain type of call comes in such as a structure fire, the dispatch protocol is to dispatch the nearest Mutual Aid department the same time as the home department. Mutual Aid being when other departments are called in on MABAS boxes (Mutal Aid Box Alarm System which much of NE Ohio utilizes) or special called to help.

If I may propose a easy to implement concept here: Emergency Medical Responders. (First Responders) Many people across the country are certified EMRs and on vacation or just in their home town and have all their medical equipment with them in their unmarked POVs. I suggest making a EMR person and giving them the stabilize command along with a few others (get and set flares, cones and stop traffic) and having them in civilian vehicles (all you can do is turn on the hazard lights and patrol). These units would wander the map and if they were close to a emergency the could help. This seems like a fairly simple addition as all you would have to do is add functions to a existing civilian unit and person.

Problem I see AHA & NREMT- First Resonders aren't cleared to do very much as far as scope of practice and when not operating under Medical Control amount to about the same as a savvy bystander. The only gear they would carry if any at all would be simple first aid kits and a CPR mask. So they wouldn't be able to do much as far as medically stablizing people, AED & CPR for cardiac arrest and C-Spine or Bleeding control for trauma is about it. If you're going for realisitic game play the only calls they could make a marked difference in (generally) is cardiac arrest or MVCs. Just my opinion.

  4. I know for a fact my county has one, but I know some other area's like down in Jefferson county they probs have a bunch already cuz OSHP pretty much runs down there with the Sheriff

The trooper I was talking to on a crash scene one day made it sound like it depends on the year of the cruisers as to who gets what first, which makes sense. I imagine central Ohio will see a lot more than the rest for now obviously, but I know there is at least one in service at all the posts near myself.

  5. I have actually seen the new K9 Tahoe, and 2 new vics on a traffic stop a few weeks ago, then the new charger a few months ago all ight up and it was omg sexy. I wonder if they will retire their vics tho

My speculation is not until they go out of service or they can't maintain them anymore. Doesn't make sense to retire working vehicles, they'll just replace the ones that go OOS with the silver chargers. Too costly to replace everything all at once since they have a 1200 vehicle fleet. Eventually they'll be forced to retire the crown vics entirely as they aren't being produced anymore though, and it really is about time anyhow.

  6. OSHP Uses all blue lights besides 1 LED in the rear and the 2 Red Grill lights, in 2013 I heard from a Trooper that OSHP is only going to be using the new 2012 Dodge Chargers in their fleet((and they are sexi as hell I seen one before)) and the chargers only have 2 red grill lights and the rest are blue.

Silver Chargers and SUVs and of course the existing white crown vics they have. You should already see the new silver units in service throughout the area.

To touch on motor carrier enforcement, they are generally anywhere an OSHP post is, but fewer in numbers and tend to hang out in the truck stops on state highways and near weigh stations Vs. sitting in turnarounds or patrolling.

  7. Of course its modifiable the problem is its not easily modifiable

I'd agree with that, I feel there's no such thing as a PC program that isn't modifiable today, just a matter of having the drive/ know how and software to get it done. For example GTA IV was not compatible with mods out of the box and a file checker prevented files from being modded, but they found a way around that and GTA IV now has tons of PC mods. However Emergency is more of a niche game, so the chances go way down

  8. It isn't going to be release that's what Jeeves hinted at, and that's why I made my sarcastic comment to Dakota. Posting from this point on is spam, this mod isn't going to be released.

1.) This mod was "designed" in 2009, back than you were not allowed to create a submod using his mods and than release them. That rule has since been changed, but this post died long before than.

2.) The last post on pg 1 was dated Nov 3 the next post doesn't come until pg2 July 11th 2010, 8 months later. If my memory is correct anything past 3-4* months on this site is considered dead, and theirs no point in reviving it.

    * I may be wrong on the exact time frame, once a topic is dead and people continue to revive it needlessly doesn't mean you should too.

Meh, still a good discussion and ideas flowing regardless.

  9. It was resovled but due to the fact that people don't have a good enough computer we can't come to a direct solution but to blame it on peoples computer.. There was to much in the mod that it caused people to ctd because of either to many units or models on the map that caused the computer to give up and crash the application. And right now we're working on a new " patch" that should not ctd and have lesser units.

Don't make that the end all cause though, I have a high end computer and still had CTD issues.

  10. There's no such thing as a SWAT medic ambulance. SWAT Medics do normal police duties too, they're just trained in a higher up than basic first aid type of thing.

this link here should be good, and my friend use to be a SWAT medic for a large county near me.

    http://www.emsrespon...ga...Ops/1$4359

To shed some light on the tactical medic comments:

There are a few different kinds of tactical medic.

There are doctors who respond out with SWAT Teams such as in Dallas.

There are fire department, ems service or private ambulance EMTs or Paramedics that are trained to work with SWAT Teams in a tactical sense, the majority being the sit outside and wait, although in some sort of tactical gear.

There are the same but trained to operate as a tactical operator and a member of the stack with a firearm and actually go in.

And finally there a police officers trained as a paramedic who take on the swat medic role for their team going in with the stack, armed of course.

So a SWAT medic may or may not preform "police duties" and may or not not be armed or even allowed inside until an area is deemed clear.

Yes the SWAT Medic Ambulance isn't very realistic but it's fictional, I get that. In real life most of the time a FD/EMS or Private ambulance will be called to the scene to stage and transport the injured seperate from the tactical medics who will be responding in whatever vehicle is assigned for that role, SUV, chase car, whatever. The gear for the tactical medics may be stored in an SUV, on one of the swat vehicles (which can very well include repainted/ refurbed ambulances or bearcats or both)

This coming from a real-life paramedic who has recieved tactical EMS (aka SWAT Medic) training and exposure. :)

I have noticed that some reskin models have recently been allowed to be released, case in point being the boston reskins. With this new change in policy, would you maybe be interested in releasing this model so we can use it in game?

Also I've seen tactical ambulances in Canada. In Toronto, Toronto EMS has a fleet of Ambulances dedicated to special operations, such as Tactical Support, CBRN support and Critical Care transfers. The Tactical and CBRN trucks do normal call responses, but they also handle special calls. These ambulances look similar to the normal road ambulances, except they are wider, slightly longer and say "Tacticalmedics" or "CBRNmedics" as opposed to "Paramedics" on the side of the trucks.

FDNY also has "HAZTAC" ambulances. They're still normal paramedic ambulances with a some specialty paramedics with hazmat and rescue training and a little more equipment. To my knowledge they don't do much with SWAT besides sit outside and wait around though. NYPD ESU has officers trained as paramedics, I believe Toronto PD does too since they have a pretty big police force.

  11. I prefer Dell over HP, but I also prefer to build your own rather than buy a pre-spec model. Intel graphics won't do much for you, spec your own an get a good card such as nvidia or one of the other big names and a large amount of ram.

  12. The Dedicated root server is managed by me ;) It came empty without even an OS thats why we are on Debian with Usermin/Webmin/Virtualmin which works great most of time

I'll take a look at your links

Yeah so it's an unmanaged server then, meaning no support, just you. That's cool, webhostingtalk.com is a great reference for any issues you may have, from security to server config.

  13. If you can't take negative criticism than why are you involved with public modding? The negative will always be louder and in more volume than the positive. That's my opinion. I don't think any modder should expect the community to kiss ass and appease them for what they promise or show off in screens myself. Nor should they stoop to an unprofessional level by getting into arguments or posting rants about the people who will be playing their products, take the criticism choose to embrace it or ignore it and move on, no need for any of this.

And to imagine the public wants releases as soon as possible, well that's just shocking! Who knew? In the end you shot your own foot by teasing too much way too soon, perhaps modders should reconsider when they announce their projects rather than making people wait years for a buggy release. Let the final product speak for itself.

We can wish things aren't the way they are, say they shouldn't be, claim people should have more respect and so on and so forth, but that won't change reality. This isn't something isolated to modding or emergency-planet in the least. And it won't be changing anytime soon.

    [/end opinion]

  14. Plesk is 1/5 of the costs of Cpanel :) At this time I use Virtualmin in combination with Usermin and Webmin, which is at no costs ;)

So you must run on an unmanaged VPS then if you have to purchase an admin program? Or using a windows server rather than a linux server, in which case cPanel wouldn't be an option.

I'd suggest doing some research, you're only two options should really be Plesk or cPanel as they are the industry standard, with cPanel having better support and an active developer community as compared to rough history with Plesk. Both can do about the same though in terms of function with Plesk doing more if you're reselling hosting, although if you pair cPanel with WHMCS that problem is solved.

cPanel doesn't cost me anything with my host or any of the hosts I've been with though.

  15. ive had this happen to me before i had to close my account it was so bad but i believe that stan will get this issue addressed and please dont be afraid to take this to the american government they will track down the guy

They aren't as proactive as you might think when it comes to spam, it gets put on a very long to do list by FBI's cyber security division to be handled when they get to it. Only the really big stuff gets any attention these days.

  16. Is it going through the IPB or an external source? You may want to do a quick sweep of the FTP for unknown files that have been added to the server and obviously password changes to your cPanel.
