Leaving Gamestop last night, I here a siren. See a cop or sheriff. Next thing I know I see a 1987 Spartan/FMC Pumper followed by a 2007 Mack MRU612/Ferrara Rescue Pumper, and to top it off a 2006 Ford F-350/Omaha Utility cab in the bed. I then see a ton of smoke. Its coming from a CVS Pharmacy parking lot. I stop at the gas station across the street well out of the way and watch for a few. By the time I left there was 2 or 3 EPD there and about another 6 Sheriff cars, not to mention a county FD EMS Supervisor, and a AMR Ambulance.

Turns out a guy had a seizure, hit 3 parked cars, and then his engine started smoking, may have even caught fire. FD had to pull the guy out through the window of his car. No one was in the parked cars, so no one else was injured.

Last night, the east coast of the US got a whole lot of rain.

A neighboring fire department went out call after call after call, making a total of 86 runs at the end of the night. Including:

-1 Structure Fire ( I may have a picture for you guys, I'll post it if I can get it from my phone onto my computer)

-60+ flooded basement pumps

-about 10 vehicle rescues (Cars stuck on flooded streets with people trapped in them)

-2 car accidents

-the rest were all fire alarms, trees down, or power lines down.

crazy night on the east coast!

In the past month for me, I have attended:

Ruptured Gas Line last week and a two car MVC on the QEW Highway. one vehicle into the centre median, the other into the right ditch going towards niagara falls. There were other calls (medicals and alarm conditions), but nothing very important to go to. :)

Lots of events the past week.

1 Medic Assist - Baby Stopped Breathing - 1 Quint 9 - 2 AMR Ambulances

1 Medic Assist - No idea but AMR did NOT transport.

1 ??? - State Trooper running Code 3 makes a U-Turn well, starts to. It was more like an Q turn lol. He was headed northbound, busted a u turn and parked facing south in the right northbound lane. Gets out of his car dressed in a hoodie and sweat pants. Yells at girl walking across the field infront of the shopping complex. She stops, yells back, turns around and starts walking. Repeat 3 times. I drove off and came back home because we forgot our movie rentals. Come back to find 2 Evansville Police and 2 Sheriffs and 1 AMR. Cops escorted girl to Ambo and she gets in on her own free will.

1 Bomb Scare - Sheriffs get on scene. Find a cylinder shaped object wrapped in electrical tape. 6 Adam 60(BC) and 6 Engine 6 STAGE at the shopping center mentioned above.(WHY would fire stage????) BC tells Dispatch to have Evansville Police Bomb Squad(but yet it was a County Run, hints Sheriff Deputies and Volly Fire Company) call his cell. Bomb Squad calls, and eventually Fire gets the OK to move in all though bomb squad was 10-20 minuets away. Bomb Squad declares it a false alarm and defuses the device. News claims the device had no explosives in it, so how the hell can bomb squad defuse it?

1 - 2 Alarm Fire at an Automotive Factory - 3 Light Forces, 1 Hazmat 1, 1 Rescue 1, 1 BC(didnt catch the call sign) 1 AMR, 3 Evansville Police - A spark ignited some paint on the floor. Hazmat was called due partially to Paint I presume, and also due to a stock of Acetone on site. 2 People had to be Decontaminated, 1 person suffered some singed hair from trying to extinguish flames with an extinguisher. BC commanded all personnel to use SCBA Gear if going inside. Everyone was alright in the end and there didnt sound like there was any fire damage, just alot of smoke.

And I saved the best for last.

I hear a Q infront of our apt complex, odd since normally I hear the Q about a mile away...literally. Flip on the scanner. They report white smoke coming from the apt complex across the street. My girl and I grab the dog and head to the end of our parking lot. 1 Quint 9 on scene reported the smoke, and 1 Engine 4 comes in a minute latter and 1 Quint 16 and 1 Engine 2 roll in soon after. Oh and 1 Rescue 3. Standard Structure fire response here, 2 light forces(although the engine and ladder are from different stations usually), 1 BC, 3 Marked Evansville Police Cars, 1 Gold Crown Vic Unmarked(detective), 1 AMR, and 1 AMR Supervisor(in 25 years I have never seen an EMS supervisor on scene). Traffic was chaos as PD never bothered to block off the street. 1 injury - Burn Vic over 50% of his body covered in burns. 1 Vic - No injuries. Turns out the guy was cooking meth and his lab blew up. The force of the explosion was enough to buckle part of the wall:

Notice the windows in the top middle are slanted!

All this with in a half mile of where I live in the course of 1 week. I thought evansville wasnt that crazy, guess I was wrong...very wrong!

There was a structure fire today. Not too major from what I could see n the exterior. It was in a restaurant, and it it looked that the fire was contained to the kitchen, and did not spread to neighboring business. It was knocked down pretty quick, and most units were gone after a few hours (Just the first arriving engine, and the investigators were still there after about 3 hours)

Well I've got a few then

I'll start with MOST recent... 8 hours ago while shopping for gifts, I was going down the escalator in the mall, when a man trips, falls and doesn't get up. Turns out he had a mental illness and they took him off in an ambulance. The woman he was with called 911 and I took care of basically checking to see he was okay like physically. I think before they took him off he had gained consciousness again, but considering his condition, they wanted to check him out first.

Yesterday I had heart troubles in DQ.. That was interesting.. I kinda spasmed and hit the floor and such, and well considering my girlfriend worries too much, I got to meet the paramedics.. I sent them on their way because by the time they'd arrived it'd subsided to just minor pains.. I'll survive more than likely..

What else...

There was a 2 car crash down the street from me, I basically played paramedic until people with actual equipment showed up.. I couldn't really rescue anyone seeing as the car had a number done to it, but the Cadillac Escalade was fine, just the driver was a little banged up. The two passengers in the car were taken to the hospital, the escalade driver was treated on scene(Further by paramedics) then released.

The rest is all pretty boring..

Life of NFK journal for March 27 complete.

you guys will get a kick out of this and is shows how many people don't use their heads before calling 911

So at about 5:55pm i was just about to sit down and eat dinner and we got a call for an Automatic Gas Alarm....so i leave my dinner to get on scene and find out this woman thought her alarm clock was the gas alarm....not to mention her alarm clock was in the kitchen along with hundreds of ceramic dolls....crazy day.

There was a 7 yr. old kid who was at the park, fell from like 10 feet high, and craked his head open (3 doors down from my house)! There were 2 PD cars, an EMS response car and an ambulance. My friend was over and the ambulance wouldn't leave for like 15 mins!!! I hope he's OK...(for info later on)

:1046276372_bawling: Neighbor's cat was KIAed this morning. We were playing and he went across the street to get something that I accedentally tossed over there, no worries, he goes across the street and back like 100 times a day, he got the object, but on his way back some a-hole speeding through (like many people to avoid the stoplight nearby) mowed him, and kept on going. Cops and HAS came to collect the corpse. One last thing about that, just before the driver was out of eyesight I went into the street and gave him both fingers, and he kept right on going.

Poor Jeffery

No, me and him were tossing a soft stress ball(the was the globe) and it was actidentally tossed to the other side of the road, I was getting up to get it, but he was running to go get it, he got it, but on his way back he got plowed :( , and the driver kept on going, leaving the cat for dead, I got to him, but he was that close enough to death I didn't try any revivation stuff, he died about 10 seconds after the impact. :1046276372_bawling:

HPD still hasn't found the vehicle used yet.
