Evans NY Mod (Slow WIP, unknown release depending on progress)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I decided to create a mod based around my own town. I doubt anyone knows where this is but Evans is about 30 minutes south of Buffalo and is a relatively rural community. There are 7 fire companies which serve this town operating 9 stations. My company (Evans Center) will probably be the main station due to our diversity of units(plus obvious bias but lets ignore that). I may add in Angola due to their Ladder truck or simply make that a mutual aid company. I currently have completely skinned our chiefs car(9) and am in the process of skinning our utility car(7-1). I am also in the process of modeling our engine 2, a 2005 Sutphen, using itchboy's cab as a base. Any modelers would be appreciated as I am not extremely skilled at it but if need be I can certainly manage myself. For the 9 and 7-1 I am using the Expedition from Mayberry mod.

Progress of this mod is continuing to those who have interest. The first Ambulance has been created with the use of Itchboy's E350 Ambulance with the old rotary lightbar removed. Skin done by myself based on the Ambulance of the Evans Center Fire Company. The Next ambulance which will be created will most likely be an AMR ambulance using the same model with a different skin. Also Engine 2 is getting closer to being completed as well as the beginning of modeling for Rescue 3 a Spartan Rescue.

Progress has been slow do to my school schedule as well as work schedule however I have been working on this in my spare time and hope to make more progress this week while I am off from school. To share a piece of progress the main body of Engine 2 is being created and is in a very early state at this time, using Itchboy's Heavy Duty Sutphen cab with the body made by myself. Additionally Rescue 7 has been created and is almost done with skinning and lighting.

Okay I have a question for anyone following this mod on what unit of these they would like to see. I would make a poll however I do not know how to do this. Would everyone prefer to see the old Angola 6 which was just taken out of service or the new Angola 6 which was just put in service? Reply to this whichever your choice is. Top is the new ladder and bottom is the old ladder obviously.

You can't go wrong with the LaFrance. Especially since there are already some models out there for EM4. Just my personal opinion. They both look nice though!

Just posting an update for anybody following this mod, I'm still working on this when possible and have been messing with trying to model my company's new Engine 4. However my computer's fan is basically shot so I'm using it as little as possible until my new one comes in so I don't burn up the hard drive. Hopefully, fingers crossed, I will have a lot of progress to show soon.

I like that more people are starting to use Blender for 3D creations

as for your "Mod"
I can help you with modeling and skins
I say I can advise or give tips

That you could do 100% Body
I personally made 6 Body and textures
Contact me "for more information

My first Tip for you is” Start with things like Lightbars ” then move to Big one”

Make Lightbars is not so Big thing ” but you leran more ” before you move to FD Truck Bodys

Okay update. Finally figured out my computer and am getting back into this mod. Decided I'll start with something simple due to school going again and am starting to create a new map of the hometown. Very limited progress on the so far but this post is mostly to give an idea of what this mod will be like. Evans is a very Rural area so much of the map will  be woods and residential homes. Green lines show roughly where roads will be and the yellow area are where homes will be placed. The two red circles show where the 2 fire stations will be on this map, only a total of about 9 fire units on map, 2 engines, one ladder, two EMT-B ambulances, one utility unit, one heavy rescue, and 2 chiefs cars with potentially some fire police units and volunteer POVs. The blue circle is where the police station and AMR station will be placed. Here there will be 2 paramedic level AMR ambulances and 4 police cars stationed. Most likely in the bottom left of the map I will place  a hospital, even though there is actually no hospital in this town. A couple different buildings on map will be a high school with football field around the orange circle and there will be a car dealership where the purple circle is. If anyone has suggestions regarding this map or mod in general let me know and I will give it some thought and get back it you.

Just an early look at one of the stations that will be on map. This is only the exterior of the building where EC Engine 4 and EC 7-1 will be stationed. If there is anybody who is willing to lend a hand with UV mapping it would be appreciated heavily as this took me a good 3 hours to figure out all the way.

I'm not keeping the walls thin. That was the easiest way for me to do the UV (Like I said, not very good at doing them). What I'm going to be doing is now adding basically another 4 walls inside and connecting them together on the top. So that it appears like there are thicker walls when its really two different ones.

Oh i see whats you are doing.

I can't say anything about blender (not using it) but in Zanoza UV mapping is th easiest part, try it (Zm 2 not Zm3).

For a first station model, this is pretty good. The brick texture is layered correctly underneath the text too. Very nice.

You got me beat, even I dont know how to UV map in Blender. I dont even wanna know how you did the shadows and rendering on the lower right window.

If you ever take the plunge into doing cars, Ill be needing help with some of my projects.

The shadows in the corner are not due to the UVs or texturing. In Blender when you do a cycles render it requires a "light" and "camera" to be placed in the file. This causes there to be actual light and shadows dependent on where those are placed. I completed the UV and placed the model in game with the texture in .dds form but it still shows as an untextured model so I may go through with Zm2 to see if I can solve that problem. And if you do need some help send a PM and I'll give you a hand with that.

Also, here is the finished model of the station with a different interior wall texture than the exterior.

Just a post to give people the idea behind this how the stations of this mod will be laid out. Station 1 will house a BLS ambulance, Utility/Traffic Vehicle, a Heavy Rescue and an Engine. Station 2 will house  a BLS flycar/traffic vehicle, and an as yet unstarted Engine.

Credits: Stations model and textured by myself. Nnico's Excursion model. Itchboy's Sutphen and KME Predator Raised cabs. Itchboy's E-350 ambulance. All textures were edited by myself.

Rear bed is 99% finished. Next is pump panel and the hoses that will be in the hose bed, under the hard suction pipes, and crosslays. Also there will be a 24ft extension ladder on the officer side. It will be a very simplistic model but would people like to see it released as an asset?
