Copyright and Intellectual Property Compliance Regulations

Recommended Posts

All content created by an author on this site is covered under these regulations. This includes any and all original work. Any content release before the time of this post will be grandfathered in, meaning exemption from these rules (still must abide by other rules) until such a time that they have been either updated, or re-uploaded. The date of upload for this exemption must be before the time of this post

Any content released will be bound by the terms that the author sets, which may be fair use policies, such as just credit, or which may be total restrictions on any edits or releases or it may be anything in between. All content users MUST respect these terms.

All content used, be it with permission, or through fair use, MUST be accompanied by appropriate and full credits.

No one may use another person's content and monetize it through means of donations or fundraising such as kickstarter or gofundme. Soliciting ANY kind of donations or fundraising will result in a termination of the user's account. This content is provided to you, free of charge to enjoy as such. The content took many hours, or days even to produce, and by editing it and releasing it, you are not fairly using the content. Any and all content that is used in fundraising schemes MUST be completely original and completely from the parties that the funds are going to.

If you believe your content is being used without your permission or there is any other type of copyright violation involving you, attempt to deal with it before involving staff. We will not be responding to any further reports of copyright violations unless the author has attempted to resolve the issue first hand. You may be required to prove this before we will investigate. ONLY come to the staff if a direct mediation failed to resolve the problem.

If your mod consists of reskins and is based off of another mod, it will be required to be classified as a submod of the original mod to pay credit to the original creators. Classifying it as a mod, when it is just new skins, or sometimes new features placed into someone else's mod with a different name is not fair to the original content creators. This includes mods developed from the base of the LA Mod. For simplicity's sake, if your mod maintains the LA structure, it's a submod of LA.

Any member in violation of these rules will be subject to discipline, up to and including immediate termination of their account.

It's come to the point now where the staff are acting as babysitters and it's just too much. We shouldn't have to spell fair use out for the community, but unless someone comes up with a way to lock all files from those who don't have permission like in GTA IV, this is how it is going to be. If things get worse, it may be the end of the community.

Existing mods that are already released are grandfathered in, so follow the same rules as before. If they update, or upload a new version they have to comply with the new rules.

The rule regarding dealing with violations (you handle it before you bothers me) comes into effect now however

I'm willing to handle it before any of you guys. I know it sucks having to do so much work on this site.
