Las Vegas modification -sneak peak information -statement

Have you been able to actually import a custom vehicle made from scratch to em5? That's the main reason why there's no mods yet.

Yes I have succeeded in adding custom made vehicles into the game which were made by myself. It was a pain to figure everything out though. Adding vehicles is not that hard. It's harder to make them available as a commandable unit.

You might consider making a basic tutorial because I know a lot of modders for em4 would consider getting and modding this game if they knew how.

But good luck :)

I second Dyson. I'd be interested in getting involved if we had instructions on getting models into the game, since the developers don't seem to have provided any.

LA? NY? We already have those mods (for EM4), I mean come on guys.

I understand your concern, that's exactly why I stated in the first paragraph of the page that people shouldn't just choose those cities because they were amazing in EM4. LA and NY are awesome cities of course but I hope everybody will give the other options a chance aswell ;)

I could look into making a tutorial but this would be after the USA Mod is coming along nicely and is up and running. I stopped working on the Dutch Modification so I can focus all my available free time on creating this mod so for now I'm not taking on any side projects. That being said I promiss to help everyone out once I made progress with this modification :-)

Hey Bram,

For me it's a comforting thought to know you are joining the camp of American MOD makers, being familiar with the Dutch MOD you created; however, I think I am entitled to say, on behalf of the Dutch players among us, that it is still feeling like a huge loss for seeing you leaving the Dutch MOD behind...  :(

But now for the good news, as you can see, there are allready people who want to join in into your plans concerning the American MOD as they are asking you for a basic tutorial. Maybe it's something worth to consider...

Asking me for my favorite American city which I would like to see in EM5, looking at the pics of the emergency services of all the cities you suggested, is like asking a child (in the middle of a candy store) to pick its favourite treat. It's really hard, because every city has very neat looking emergency services. Therefor I "simply" choose for Los Angeles for its neat looking ambulances - I can't think of a better reason... :Oo  However, San Francisco, would also do very well in my opinion...

Anyway, whatever city it is going to be, I'm looking forward to see it all coming together.

Keep in touch!

Cheers,  :holdglass:

Robert.

I would love to see a Vegas mod for EM5 but it could be hard because from what I know is that in EM4 two people made forums and cancelled both because either they didnt have time or because they lost their files but a Las Vegas mod would be cool

Hey Robert,

Thank you for your kind message as always ;)

San Francisco is indeed a very cool city but I like the police cars a little bit less than the other cities. The star on the door with SFPD isn't nice and sharp in my opinion ;)

Las Vegas is a nice city to implement and right now the number one contender so it might just happen. The only downside with Las Vegas is the identifying mark it has. If you'd want to recreate the city poeple are expecting to see the strip with it's casino's and this is a hell of a lot work to do. The cars and characters are way less time consuming than the buildings are. In short it would take longer to recreate Las Vegas than any other city on the list but it would be pretty amazing to create it. :)

Do you have openings for some assistance?

(I could do so news/forums, my editors skills are a 0 as of right now.)

I do keep an open mind about this but I'm afraid this is not current for people helping out with the forums. I'd like to update the 'newswire' myself. Openings for assistance are also not current for skinning the 3D objects I'm going to make. This is something I will attend to myself as well. Good question though and thank you for taking the time to ask it ;)

Bring back los angeles it would be great fun seeing hoppah work along you with the Los Angeles

Los Angeles will always be a great city to recreate and the Los Angeles modification for Emergency 4 created by Hoppah is a real milestone in the history of the Emergency games. That being said it's getting more and more likely that I will recreate Las Vegas for this modification as it is still the number one contenter in the POLL. I wouldn't mind because Las Vegas is an amazing city to build. Furthermore I think it's good for everyone to come out of their comfort zone and keep an open mind for other cities than we've already seen in the past. The world is as great as it is today because we are inventive and willing to try something new instead of sticking with the old and safe choices ;)

Voted Las Vegas however I would of liked to see a San Francisco one. Maybe one day after this if you continue in America.

Thanks for your vote. As I replied a few posts above, San Francisco is a pretty cool city but I myself don't like the stars on the doors of the police cars. It could look very cool inside the game though... I could add the city to the list but I don't think it's going to make a lot of a difference. I'm closing the POLL tomorrow or monday, if a lot of people are commenting about wanting San Francisco as a mod I will give it a fair chance and put it in the final voting round. In the final round people can only vote for one city instead of multiple cities at once. :P

Can you provide proof that you are able to convert/make new models for Em5 ?

Yes actually I can. I'll make a screenshot of a testcar imported into the editor. Will be uploaded tonight or tomorrow. I'm by the way only creating the models myself, nothing is going to be converted. Converting stuff made by others would be very easy to do but other than that it would look pretty bad in Emergency 5. It's way better to create the models as you need to have a high poly and a low poly model to make the cars look nice in EM5. Check back later for the screenshot ;)

Too bad Milwaukee is so far down in the votes. I was a Milwaukee Fire Dispatcher for 8 years. Would have loved to see a mod come to life.

A lot of people will be disappointed by the outcome of the votes and a lot of people will be satisfied. It's always very hard to create something everybody will like. I understand your feelings about a Milwaukee modification as it is a part of your life. Who knows, maybe someday it gets created. :D

What software you using to model? Some pics would be cool. I'd honestly go into Em5 if it would work on my PC and if someone could figure out the model and scripting aspect of modding it.

To save you the effort, I'll give you and only you permission to convert/rework my stuff. You must credit me though. PM for additional details.

Hum! Well it is nice to know that you can import other models into the EM5 game and maps excreta and you are willing to shear this with other molders only after the USA mod is under way?

Listing if you claim to know how to do this, then put it out there, so it is believable.  You will get a much better response from the members in helping with your mod.

Though I understand why you guys would think it's nice to see some proof I'm not really comfortable with the way it's being asked because it feels a little bit like I'm forced to do so.
Let me be very clear about the fact that I'm here to build a mod, not to teach others how to do so! I'm not going to write a tutorial untill the modification is running smooth because writing a tutorial is definitly not my priority. Just be glad about the fact that I'm willing to bring out a mod. I attached some pictures of the VW Touran which was supposed to be in the Dutch Modification but it's not done yet as you can probably see. I didn't make textures for it and the polycount is a little bit high. I didn't finish it because of this new modification which more people are interested in than a Dutch one.

I'm kinda curious why people want to force me to write page after page after page as a tutorial? Again, I'm here to build a mod for everyone to enjoy, so I'm not going to spend days writing stuff down for everybody. It is more complex than it was for Emergency 4 so it would take much more time to write a tutorial. You could use the Emergency 4 way of making new cars but in my opinion they won't look really nice in EM5 because of the new engine and such.

One more thing.. People keep telling me to show proof because otherwise no one would get aboard this mod... BUT, that's not even my intention. I'm not actively looking for people to help me out. I just want to know what everybody wants to see before I create something. So I'm not looking for that a better response for people wanting to help me, quite the contrary...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad about this but a little bit of trust would be more than welcome.

Go ahead and count how many threads that was started by people like you with promises that never came true. Why do we need proof ? So this community knows that you're not full of crap. This community also holds talented modding teams and unfortunately we do not have much guidance on how to evolve our modding abilities into Emergency 5. Now look what the wind blew in : you.

So of course, we'll feel naturally curious and indulged to ask you if you could provide us some assistance to help us grow the emergency 5 modding. So we're not forcing you at all, we're not holding a gun to your head. We're simply asking you if you would be willing to help us through the fog since you obviously have a greater understanding at this engine than we do. I feel that you would be far more successful at providing a tutorial rather than making a american modification based on a polling vote. Keep in mind half of the community members are needy and greedy so they'll vote for anything that they want to have RIGHT now.

I'll tell you what, people won't be interested in this mod as much they will be interested in making their own mods now since they just saw proof that its possible, so they're gonna be using you. So you can either continue this mod and possibility fold, or help us out and we'll help you out. just my opinion.

Good luck with your endeavors in this community and i look forward to your future results.

Come on guys! I am a bit confused here!!   :WTF:

I thought we were all on the same page here on this forum. Didn't we ALL cry for the making of a new LA-MOD at the coming out of EM5?? Didn't we all wait for the one person who would make a working MOD for EM5 in a way Hoppah did at the time in EM4?? At least, I was one of them...

I've told this before on the forum, and I am not ashamed to repeat myself, but I don't know anything about MODDING myself; I'm just "a simple player". I've played the Dutch MOD during its developing period. I was happy and impressed the way it was going. I was sad to learn that that there was put a stop on the development of this MOD but, as I wrote before, (...) "to me it 's a comforting thought to know that FrozenOne-94 is joining the camp of American MOD makers, being familiar with the Dutch MOD he created". Have you, by the way, played this MOD any time at all?

I can't help the feeling that you both are attacking the guy who is really trying to make an effort to make a working American MOD for EM5. I haven't seen YOU guys doing anything for that matter. It's always easy to critizise while staying on the side line. Maybe you're feeling frustrated that you're not succeeding so far yourselves, if you ARE trying at all, or you're just being impatient for still missing a working American MOD like Hoppah created in EM4...

As far as I got to know FrozenOne-94, he is enthousiastic enough to pull the job. Remarks like you just made, are not helping him at all. Please note: he is doing this for a hobby and he is very much willing to share his plans, suggestions, efforts and results on the forum with us on a voluntary basis. He is NOT getting payed for this! I, for one, wouldn't want to be in his shoes... :(

So, please show some patience, give the guy some credit, cut him some slack - he really should deserve it.  :12:

That being said, no hard feelings! Let's get our noses straight and keep it civilized here!

Cheers!!   :holdglass:
