  2. It's been slow going for progress from me. I've sadly, not been able to do very much. This is one of the 87-89 Mack Pumpers, early WIP. More to come in the future, but I make no promises.

  5. It's been a while. First thing I can say is that we've been gifted new spec found. MotoStringer got us a new McCormick ambulance variation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW1o6nyKWko This guy is legit as hell, if you're interested in these retro tapes, give him a sub. Another update is progress is coming really slowly. Recently, I began to texture the civilian vehicles and vehicle bases for additional units. This one's special - I've been meaning to get one made to replace the Jeep model we already have. Texture and miscellaneous parts by Yankee43. He did a great job and I hope you guys can give him some love too. With all this in mind, I'll cut back the traffic set even more. I'm not really getting as far as I want to with progress. I'll revert back to my original concept of replacing only the bare minimum, or else I'll never complete these assets, at the current rate of work.

  6. Just popping in to greet everyone Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas. Unfortunately I don't have any updates as of late. Regardless, thank you all for supporting this submod. I appreciate the research and crowdsourcing of information.

  7. More civs coming to this project: I have not neglected the playable units. There's a major revision coming to alot of models. They will have better shaping and texturing in the upcoming update. Here's the new front end on the Caprice models: There's also new front end models for the Chevy squarebody trucks: And a few more revisions to playable models like the F series trucks, Plymouth classic sedans and more.

  9. Generally I'd like to be impartial and not pick sides but randomly calling people out as "self absored" (in an inactive thread) is a great way to get a negative response from other people. The post was uncalled for and it comes across as starting shit with people for sake of it. For now, no bans will be issued, rather I'll be locking the thread for about a week or so to let things cool off.

  10. Folks, I’ve got a project here I’m very excited to share with you all. Just about two years in the making, in quiet group chats and google drives, I am very happy to officially announce Project NYstalgia, a mod themed around New York City circa 1993. If you’ve followed me around on Discord since 2021, you might recognize this as “that private edit I was messing around with.” Well, since then it’s been torn down and rebuilt more times than I’ve bothered to keep count of. A few times, I even got damn close to shelving the whole project. But, I get by with a little help from my friends, who have pestered me and made sure that this mod stays in my head. There are many people to be mentioned, but I need to give a particular thanks to @mercurygrandmarquis1 and @Jules617 have provided invaluable research assistance, @Newfoundking has taken some of the load off my shoulders with lighting, and @itchboy has provided a majority of the models. This project is to blame for why Edgewater and Hill Street Blues have gone belly up recently. My focus will bounce back to those, eventually, but I’d like to see this through all the way. When will it be released? When it’s done. When will it be done? When I say so. Anyway, enough of me yapping. You all want screenshots. NYPD Caprices and Econoline van. Vehicle models by Itchboy, textures by mercurygrandmarquis1. Fedsig lightbars by EmC-unit and rihis. 11. Hello gents! I hope everything is well for you. I just wanted to drop a quick post to apologize for both the very slow progress on the sub-mod and my absence. During the last three months or so, I've been fully committed to learning C# and SQL coding for a (hopefully) new job, which has been taking up a significant chunk of my free time. As a result, I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I would love to this project. Rest assured, tho, that I haven't forgotten about it. I'm still working on it albeit at a slower pace. I appreciate your patience and understanding. Until next time, gents! - LibertyWings

  17. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the generosity. I couldn't do this without help from people like you. This is real, the pic was posted in the reply below yours. Sadly, police horses are still out of reach for Em4. I'll revisit it in case we can make it work. As for all other discussions, I'll try to iron out bugs for the next version. However I stand by my decision not to rework the current assets; it's just too much work and gets in the way of fixing the bugs that are already there.

  18. Halloween is upon us once again. The Yearly Tradition™ continues. It's not LA related but I love doing this every year. On an LA related update, I've decided I'll scale back the updates for the mod. It is taking way too long to update and remake 60 assets. It's just too much work to remodel, relight and retexture every LTD, CVPI, Caprice, all the ambulances and most of the pickup trucks in the mod. Instead I'll focus on adding new vehicles and new spec. The point of diminishing returns has come and gone. Whatever improvements I make to existing assets don't really improve the overall presentation anymore. I am interested in doing this but I don't have a purpose for these units. Maybe random spawn chance?

  19. I don't really have much on my end besides more civilian assets. For two months, I've been focusing primarily on European assets which are not relevant here. I also don't know what I'll do with the Corvette but I made one anyway. I hope to be able to make playables again.

  20. I've got something tonight I'm very excited and proud to show you all. My very own whelen FastTrax rear module for Itchboy's CVPI. One of the fugliest lightbars of the late 90s is perfect for this project. Lighting demo to come at a later date- I'm still playing with the timing and patterns.

  21. It's not helping my case that some of these vehicles aren't just for LA. There's other vehicles that have a role as emergency service in other places. Some of the European stuff I make could also be good for a retro UK or Europe mod. I'm carrying a lot of momentum with this project and I'd like to be able to provide materials for others to start their own retro themed mods with.

  22. Alright, so I've been returned from the dead to pick through this and take a look. Ten years ago it was a lot easier to actually sort through and make heads or tails for model, script and other threats because there wasn't much activity and there wasn't much that could really be ripped from elsewhere without SIGNIFICANT gameplay drops, and it made it pretty easy to put a stop to violations. Now, it's a little harder. More modern machines make unoptimized models extremely easy to process, mods can be bloated to lord knows how big, and at the end of the day, I don't have the time to chase every model against stolen assets without some proof. There's just too much freely available stuff on the web to rip and claim as your own. So this is where I'll weigh in. Under TOS 5, it's a giant no-no to share ripped content. To the point where you're looking at a ban. That said, it's also on others to help us. I'll recognize some stuff, but I'm just one gamer in a million, and I wouldn't stand a chance to recognize everything. So it's on you to report something if you see it. And if that's the case, whatever you can share will allow us to do a better investigation and actually find the stuff. Realistically, especially with the older games, chasing ripped content is a community affair, and it can't rely on one person. Now that said, TOS 4, there's no fighting, defamation, or general trouble making either. I get it, stuff slips through, but airing trash in public and starting fights is something that's been a prohibited thing since I joined the site ages ago. So, I'm going to open the topic, I'm going to leave the file up, for now, unless someone wants to contact me with anything showing that the file itself, or the contents within are violating some site rule. If someone contacts me directly, and provides something I can work on, the topic will close again, the file will come down, as per site rules. I've been a lurker for the past few years, haven't been involved in the community, and aside from looking at the occasional mod, I've been out of the community, so I'm about as impartial of an observer as you're going to get. That said, I'll be back for now, and if there's trouble starting brewing in this topic, I'll go back to the TOS, look at what rules are being violated, and go from there. Fights don't build communities, and neither does stolen content. So let's not make a public fight, and let's not steal content. And if any contributors to this mod have ripped content, as long as you come to me before someone reports you for stealing, I'll give a carte blanche to remove it from the mod, follow the site rules, and no warnings/bans get handed out. But if someone comes with proof that something was ripped and stuck in this, or any mod, I'll do what the TOS tell me to, which is remove the content, and potentially the author. Let's just settle things right. My inbox is open.

  24. I have a lot of very negative things to say about the new game. I won't say them here. In fact I feel like im grieving the loss of a series that I love. I won't be so damn negative though; there is some silver lining. One that, it might funnel more casual users, who could potentially have modding talent, into Em4/5 Another one is that 16T is starting to re-establish communications with the community. We as a community could push for the "opening" of Em2012/13 to modding, so that we can have 90% of Em4 as a game but with updated graphics. We will see what the future holds. At least we still have the current titles.

  29. They should have at least announced it, so people can make backups of the mods and assets. This is just unacceptable; everything is lost! I'm absolutely heartbroken right now. I was part of the community for over ten years, and seeing it disappear from one day to the next makes me extremely sad.

  33. For those who are still following or for those brand new: bonus eye-candy today! Are you tired of that old, boring mid 2000s era tablet loading screen? Of course you are, so that's why I provided you guys a brand new loading screen drawing ispiration from RL police computer screen. And besides, wouldn't it be dull to play a Gotham-themed submod without any extra flavour? Hope you like it!

  34. I'm sorry guys, it had to be done. It's hideous, pitiful but it's history. I look forward to all the laughs this thing will give you when it's ingame, equipped and ready to drive. Now here's something more macho. It turns out there's no less than 6 variations of this Ford ambulance that NYC*EMS used. I'll try to make as many of them as I can. The other team members will be doing livery work on this, unless there's any takers looking to help. All work in this post is by me.

  35. Hello boys and girls! No time no see, am I right? First of all, I apologize for all this months of absolute radio silence, but still I hope all of you had a wonderful start for this 2024 even if the actual state of the world is all but a shit show. Buuuut, I'm not going to talk about that, not a all. What am I going to talk to is about a playable - and hope stable - Alpha Version of the submod. Oh yes! You heard that right! Since most of the basic PIs are done, I might give you something to play on while I keep working on the beta version. Be mindful tho: my life's been quite... difficult to put it simple and all these months have been quite a challenge for me, so don't expect any regular updates. Also, periodically I might put this on hiatus because, well, RL hitting like a semi-truck full of big ahh lead pipes is still a thing rn, and the next few months I'll have even more shit to deal with. Nevertheless, as I said earlier in the thread, I WILL deliver, I'm only asking for more patience from you, really. Again, sorry if it seemed that I left for good, but new year new me, I guess? I'll deliver. You can count on that. Until next time, mates!

  36. I don't really have anything new at the moment but here's some unfinished civ vehicles that were textured late last year. I'll try to focus on making playable vehicles again. I think we've got enough NPC cars already. On another positive note, this image of the LAFD SWR van has surfaced.

The rest of your post is similar to what I feel about the game, now that we've had a few months to process what's here. I don't like it, I'm not touching it and I'm sticking to my current projects. Long live...low poly modding.

  42. Hello guys, I know it's been almost two months since you last heard from me and I'm sorry for about taking so long. I'm not much of a speaker, so I'm going straight to the point. Due to RL circumstances, the development of this sub-mod is temporarly on hiatus. Before you ask: no, I'm not abandoning the project. That would mean waste weeks of work and fatigue so nah, not going to happen. But for the moment... well... I'm not in the right mood to continue. Don't worry, as I promised earlier on the thread, I WILL deliver. But for now, I'm taking some rest from modding. Stay safe and I wish you well

  43. I've been searching for a while but I've found a decent full-sized pickup for the USFS patrol/utility for the 1980s. Not an actual pickup bed like the 90s unit but as far as I've seen most of the older pickups had rear bodys like this. If you have any plans on adding some more USFS rigs into the mod I may be able to help with reference. I found a group while back that has a ton of photos of the old Chevy and GMC engines along with some others and even the Unimogs that the USFS had. (Update:) I found this photo which was interesting enough that I figured I'd tack it onto the post. Doesn't show anything new that isn't in my other post on this private EMS company.

  45. Back from another long hiatus from the forums to give my interpretation of Montana statutes, cause I'm weird. Montana vehicle code 61-9-227 seems to imply that not having a siren is what differentiates a volunteer firefighter's POV from an authorized emergency vehicle. (61-9-227. Blinker-type or revolving red light on certain private vehicles -- use -- identification card, MCA (mt.gov)) Montana vehicle code 61-9-401 "Horns, Security Alarms, and Warning Devices" describes the conditions for use of a siren as this. (61-9-401. Horns, security alarms, and warning devices, MCA (mt.gov)) So, I dug a little more. I found Montana code 61-8-102, which provides a definition.. of a definition of what Montana considers an authorized emergency vehicle. (61-8-102. Uniformity of interpretation -- definitions, MCA (mt.gov)) However, the statute that specifies a volunteer firefighter being permitted a light on the front or top of his vehicle does seem to provide a description that wouldn't allow the vehicle to meet the conditions for having a siren and being classified as an emergency vehicle. Montana code 61-9-402 describes the signaling equipment for an authorized emergency vehicle as such. (61-9-402. Audible and visual signals on police, emergency vehicles, and on-scene command vehicles -- immunity, MCA (mt.gov)) The raw legal definition of an authorized emergency vehicle as described in Title 7, Chapter 33 appears to not have been published online or is hiding in a section of the statute that is marked as reserved, because I went through every single article in the chapter and couldn't find it. So, in short, I don't think that POVs in Montana would meet the other signaling requirements of the law to be able to be classed as an authorized emergency vehicle and then use a siren. Though I am tempted now to contact the Montana Highway Patrol and find out. Hope this is helpful. Otherwise I typed a lot to look like a moron.

  46. Hello everyone! I'm posting to assure you that the work on the submod is going well albeit at an even slower pace: y'know the usual RL stuff plus other interests and games that may - or may not - take my time.
