  7. More civs coming to this project: I have not neglected the playable units. There's a major revision coming to alot of models. They will have better shaping and texturing in the upcoming update. Here's the new front end on the Caprice models: There's also new front end models for the Chevy squarebody trucks: And a few more revisions to playable models like the F series trucks, Plymouth classic sedans and more.

  9. Generally I'd like to be impartial and not pick sides but randomly calling people out as "self absored" (in an inactive thread) is a great way to get a negative response from other people. The post was uncalled for and it comes across as starting shit with people for sake of it. For now, no bans will be issued, rather I'll be locking the thread for about a week or so to let things cool off.

  10. Folks, I’ve got a project here I’m very excited to share with you all. Just about two years in the making, in quiet group chats and google drives, I am very happy to officially announce Project NYstalgia, a mod themed around New York City circa 1993. If you’ve followed me around on Discord since 2021, you might recognize this as “that private edit I was messing around with.” Well, since then it’s been torn down and rebuilt more times than I’ve bothered to keep count of. A few times, I even got damn close to shelving the whole project. But, I get by with a little help from my friends, who have pestered me and made sure that this mod stays in my head. There are many people to be mentioned, but I need to give a particular thanks to @mercurygrandmarquis1 and @Jules617 have provided invaluable research assistance, @Newfoundking has taken some of the load off my shoulders with lighting, and @itchboy has provided a majority of the models. This project is to blame for why Edgewater and Hill Street Blues have gone belly up recently. My focus will bounce back to those, eventually, but I’d like to see this through all the way. When will it be released? When it’s done. When will it be done? When I say so. Anyway, enough of me yapping. You all want screenshots. NYPD Caprices and Econoline van. 14. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the generosity. I couldn't do this without help from people like you. This is real, the pic was posted in the reply below yours. Sadly, police horses are still out of reach for Em4. I'll revisit it in case we can make it work. As for all other discussions, I'll try to iron out bugs for the next version. However I stand by my decision not to rework the current assets; it's just too much work and gets in the way of fixing the bugs that are already there.

  15. Halloween is upon us once again. The Yearly Tradition™ continues. It's not LA related but I love doing this every year. On an LA related update, I've decided I'll scale back the updates for the mod. It is taking way too long to update and remake 60 assets. It's just too much work to remodel, relight and retexture every LTD, CVPI, Caprice, all the ambulances and most of the pickup trucks in the mod. Instead I'll focus on adding new vehicles and new spec. The point of diminishing returns has come and gone. Whatever improvements I make to existing assets don't really improve the overall presentation anymore. I am interested in doing this but I don't have a purpose for these units. Maybe random spawn chance?

  16. I don't really have much on my end besides more civilian assets. For two months, I've been focusing primarily on European assets which are not relevant here. I also don't know what I'll do with the Corvette but I made one anyway. I hope to be able to make playables again.

  17. I've got something tonight I'm very excited and proud to show you all. My very own whelen FastTrax rear module for Itchboy's CVPI. One of the fugliest lightbars of the late 90s is perfect for this project. Lighting demo to come at a later date- I'm still playing with the timing and patterns.

  18. It's not helping my case that some of these vehicles aren't just for LA. There's other vehicles that have a role as emergency service in other places. Some of the European stuff I make could also be good for a retro UK or Europe mod. I'm carrying a lot of momentum with this project and I'd like to be able to provide materials for others to start their own retro themed mods with.

  19. Alright, so I've been returned from the dead to pick through this and take a look. Ten years ago it was a lot easier to actually sort through and make heads or tails for model, script and other threats because there wasn't much activity and there wasn't much that could really be ripped from elsewhere without SIGNIFICANT gameplay drops, and it made it pretty easy to put a stop to violations. Now, it's a little harder. More modern machines make unoptimized models extremely easy to process, mods can be bloated to lord knows how big, and at the end of the day, I don't have the time to chase every model against stolen assets without some proof. There's just too much freely available stuff on the web to rip and claim as your own. So this is where I'll weigh in. Under TOS 5, it's a giant no-no to share ripped content. To the point where you're looking at a ban. That said, it's also on others to help us. I'll recognize some stuff, but I'm just one gamer in a million, and I wouldn't stand a chance to recognize everything. So it's on you to report something if you see it. And if that's the case, whatever you can share will allow us to do a better investigation and actually find the stuff. Realistically, especially with the older games, chasing ripped content is a community affair, and it can't rely on one person. Now that said, TOS 4, there's no fighting, defamation, or general trouble making either. I get it, stuff slips through, but airing trash in public and starting fights is something that's been a prohibited thing since I joined the site ages ago. So, I'm going to open the topic, I'm going to leave the file up, for now, unless someone wants to contact me with anything showing that the file itself, or the contents within are violating some site rule. If someone contacts me directly, and provides something I can work on, the topic will close again, the file will come down, as per site rules. I've been a lurker for the past few years, haven't been involved in the community, and aside from looking at the occasional mod, I've been out of the community, so I'm about as impartial of an observer as you're going to get. That said, I'll be back for now, and if there's trouble starting brewing in this topic, I'll go back to the TOS, look at what rules are being violated, and go from there. Fights don't build communities, and neither does stolen content. So let's not make a public fight, and let's not steal content. And if any contributors to this mod have ripped content, as long as you come to me before someone reports you for stealing, I'll give a carte blanche to remove it from the mod, follow the site rules, and no warnings/bans get handed out. But if someone comes with proof that something was ripped and stuck in this, or any mod, I'll do what the TOS tell me to, which is remove the content, and potentially the author. Let's just settle things right. My inbox is open.

  20. I have a lot of very negative things to say about the new game. I won't say them here. In fact I feel like im grieving the loss of a series that I love. I won't be so damn negative though; there is some silver lining. One that, it might funnel more casual users, who could potentially have modding talent, into Em4/5 Another one is that 16T is starting to re-establish communications with the community. We as a community could push for the "opening" of Em2012/13 to modding, so that we can have 90% of Em4 as a game but with updated graphics. We will see what the future holds. At least we still have the current titles.

  23. I'll just lay it out here before things get too heated - any mod has the right to be called unspec. That's freedom of speech and no different than say, me calling any other project as unspec. I look at things and call them unspec all the time. However, calling something unspec and gatekeeping are two separate issues being conflated into one discussion. I'll be watching the thread for now; it gets locked if people can't play nice. The usage terms of the mod are to be respected, that's just it. Not up for debate. That's not gatekeeping. That's respecting individual rights. What is allowed though, is the creation of any other Miami themed project as long as it doesn't infringe on others' asset usage terms. Nobody has a monopoly on a Miami project. If you can do it better, go for it. If I were to suggest a healthier point of discussion - make a new thread about a new mod idea, featuring something else like mainland Miami City, the 'glades or any of the suburbial areas in the county area. Option C would be a team effort among the factions to create proper spec for Miami Beach FD and PD. I leave it to you people to work this out moving forward.

  24. How is stating a fact insulting? For years, nobody dared to say it publicly. Do you think it feels amazing being the only person daring to take it to a public forum? It's disappointing, yes. To everybody who has been to Miami, has a general interest in the area, or lives here. Especially those who waited a long time back then. But it wouldn't have been so disappointing if a specific person wouldn't gatekeep edits. There are so many talented people in this community, yet they aren't allowed to edit? If this is not the definition of a fragile ego, I don't know what is. By the way - I do have the skills. I've probably done more things for and in this community than you think - which is fine. Point being is that there's not just me, but many people willing to turn this mod around and make it a true, accurate mod. Yet - we can't. Well, we can.. technically. Technically everybody can do whatever they want. And that's how communities thrive. To be open to change and knowledge, instead of buildings walls.

I was part of the community for over ten years, and seeing it disappear from one day to the next makes me extremely sad.

  34. Recap on recent projects, much more active in Emergency 4 Cental discord. A lot of these units are unfinished, i.e missing ELS, or unfinished textures. Wheels are place holders so they're not floating. Pleased to say 5 of the rears are made from scratch by me, many of which inspired by the youtube channels 'Demon Racer, and Rainman14' Also a peek at a new and improved trailer. I made a trailer pack eons ago, but apparently never posted it here, along with my (terrible) Peterbilt 379 cab that is too embarrasing to show. 35. Surely I could have packed my words in cotton and worded my comments nicer @Xplorer4x4, you ain't wrong. However, I feel like this community has cared long enough to be as nice as possible trying to get points across and it never worked. A harsher tone was needed to get my point across, and I'm glad it worked. It has sparked major discussions on Discord and I'm glad about the open discourse. My point still stands though. Gatekeeping sucks.

I woke up this morning and suddenly remembered I forgot to share anything I've done. oops. I'll start posting the backlog. Stating with these edits of Itchboy's Ecto-One from a few years ago. 37. Hello everyone, it's been a while, isn't it? Four years is a long, long time indeed! Four years ago, I wanted to give my contribution to this community, thus I began my work on a Gotham City Police Department sub-mod for Hoppah's LA Mod. Back then, I didn't knew the scope of my work, even less the scale I wanted to give it. What the heck, I wasn't even sure I would go over those three CVPIs I made! But things were coming up nicely, and the response was fairly good. Then RL struck hard - very hard - the pandemic did the rest so I abandoned the project. Plus, all my assets went the way of the dodo along with my old hard drive so... yeah. Not an easy situation, I'll tell you that! Fours years later, I am here. Back on the track... sort of Learning again how to mod EM4 was a pain in the ass, but the results exceeded my own expectations. The cars you are seeing, are all completed, redone from scratch with lights and such and only need ingame implementation... if only I manage not to screw up the LASiren script. Might need a help from you guys in the future as I'm terrible, awful, at scripting. IMPORTANT: due to real life work, time constraint etc. I don't know if I'll be able to cover each of the four branches, much less making a custom freeplay map. For the time being, this will remain a GCPD-only sub mod, with a little bit of Gotham-themed flavour here and there. So stay tuned for more updates! Also, it is good to be back. Disclaimer: if you're looking for a 1:1 Nolan's Gotham City, you won't find it here... not fully at least. The reason why? The stylistic direction I'm taking will be a "middle ground" between Nolan's Dark Knight, Rocksteady's Arkham games, keeping a balance between realism and the "rule of cool". 38. Good evening everyone! Another small update from yours truly! As you can see below, I did some adjustments on the police's HQ. Nobody would want to see that big "LAPD" while running around with your GCPD patrol cars, am I right? So, away with LA and welcome to Gotham! The HQ now has a grittier, darker skin, much more akin with the classic Chicago/New York look that Gotham City has. I've even re-done both doors and floor textures based on those from Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight's GCPD Building as you can see in the references down below. So, that's about it for now! We'll keep in touch and stay tuned for more!

  41. That's actually a fairly quick fix, just take a look at the first post. You're loading the freeplay map, you need to open singleplayer. This mod does not use Multiplayer. It only uses the missionscript freeplay simulator.

Recently, after some discussion with Itchboy regarding this mod, I have decided to conduct extensive research for the past hour, I have dug into finding some references for the Los Angeles County Fire Department in regards to this mod. If you would like please look at them to see if any of them are fit for this mod, if they are or if they are not please message on this topic board as soon as you can.
