Emergency 2 Review
GameZone.com editors' review
Emergency 2 is a simulation that allows you to control the resources of the game city, by responding to all threats. Be it Fire, Fatal train wreck or saving the Presidents life. You are the controller, don't fail the people.
Gameplay
Emergency 2 allows you to control several Fire and Rescue vehicles, along with police, a police helocopter and a tow truck. You are presented a scenario in the beginning of the missions, that will outline the type of emergency you will be encountering. The first mission is one where a truck is struck by a train. You mission is disperse Fire and Rescue. But part of the mission requires you to move the vehicle from the tracks after you rescue the persons. Don't forget or you'll fail the mission. So you will need to find a tow truck to move the truck from the track.
In the first mission you will need to transport 2 victims to the hospital. You will need your firefighter to use the jaws of life to rescue the trapped person in the vehicle on the tracks.
The second mission is a bit more difficult, I wont spoil it for you, but I will suggest this, there is a Helocopter in this mission, you will need it.
Throughout the missions you will need to go to the control room to evaluate the situation, maybe use the computer to learn more about some tactics for the gameplay. You will see a large screen of the accident location. If you send your SatCom rescue vehicle to the scene, then you will have the monitor to the right of the main screen available, which will give you more detail of the area, like roads and buildings. To the left of the main screen is you Map overview of the entire city. This screen is very helpful when you are wondering where your team is on the map. Maybe they are enroute.
There are 3 smaller screens in the lower left, these are used to quickly navigate to the specific unit you want to send to the sceen. Fire, Police and Rescue.
Once on the scene you will have to get the rescue people out of their vehicles. That done, you can select the individual, and if there is a specific second or more tasks they can perform you will get a menu from right clicking on them. For example if you click a firefighter and right click on the fire engine, you will get a menu of items the fireman can take from the fire truck. Maybe it is a hose, a rope or the Jaws of Life.
Police can be used to apprehend persons on scenes. They can block scenes from passing by citezens, or they can direct traffic. There are many more options that can be used in the game by each member of the specific response team you sent to the scene.

Technical
One of the biggest problems I experienced with Emergency 2 was continuous crashing. I would just get into the game, when all of a sudden the game dumped and I found myself at the Windows screen.Again this may have been OS specific, as I am running Windows XP Professional. SO I will not fault the developers for this, until I see that it is happening to more people with different Operating Systems.
Technical Score: 80
Value
When the game would play for longer than 10 minutes, it was tremendous. In fact it was a big let down having to suffer through all those continual dumnping out to the OS.But I am basing the review on the times that I did get to play it, and I would have to say the game is excellent. With over 20 missions, you could play this for hours and come in and do it again with a change to how you execute the missions.
Emergency 2 is a very nice game.

Overall
Emergency 2 is a good game that should appeal to a large audience. Emergency 2 has tremendous graphics, that do not appear to bog down the system due to over complex scenes. When the sound worked it was very cool. Most importantly the missions were challenging and quite fun.Emergency 2 is a masterpiece, I just wish my machine did not have so many difficulties with it.
